The purpose of the present study was to identify the effect of ritual dress on korean catholic priest's impression. The subject consisted of 415 undergraduated students. The experimental materials developed for this study were 3 type color photographs stimuli of catholic priest model and 7-point sementic differential scale composed of 49 bipolar adjectives representing personal traits. The data were analyzed by factor analysis. the major findings drawn from this study were as follows : Four factors emerged to account for the dimentional structure of the impression of each dress style. Four factors were titled as open-hearted mind symbolic meaning nature of priest potency. The open-hearted mind factor was the largest throughout the 3types ritual dress. Casula had a positive effect on open-hearted mind nature of prist and negative on symbolic meaning potency. Sutan had a positive effect on open-hearted mind potency nature of priest and negative on symbolic meaning. Black suit with roman collar had a positive effect on open-hearted mind symbolic meaning nature of prist and negative on potency, Therefore the ritual dress had significant effect on korean catholic priest' impressin of open-hearted mind symbolic meaning nature of prist activity and potency

The subject is connected with a structure named "The Symbolic" to Lacan, but he denied that the subject is explained simply as a fruit of language and "Other". From his point of view, passing through Subject, De-formation and Crack over it is designated as foundation of generation and creation rather than our destined defect. It should not be understood that subject of "The Real" is a concept of the subject free itself from restraint of "The Symbolic". However, this does not mean he asserts "Subject" is something incapable of being controlled by the unknown power. The problem is that this autonomous existence meets inside of it with something "more than one's own self" by "circulating around itself" like a permanent star. This is the indication of a "stranger in the middle of my privacy", or "extimit$\'{e}$", a coined-word by Lacan. Perhaps "Subject" is nothing more than the name of distance of object which is "too hot" to come close, and of this circulating movement. It's because of this object that the real subject stands against generalization and the subject can't be restored to any place in symbolic order-even though it is empty. The part which is told from Lacan's structural theory, that is to say, an importance to Lacan is that his Subject theory is not suggested or denied as a manual structure. On the contrary, it is a study of the relationship between the settled symbol that included in "real subject which is a unconscious one" and the symbolic subject hold- that is a metaphysical subject in general meaning. In Lacan's enlarged concept of subject beyond symbolic reality, it is noticeable that it gives justifiability to the union of a medium of different nature in artistic expression. We can recognize that the unconscious world is a living space which enables it to be a "condition of human being", not something dark under the surface of water through Magritte's(Rene Magritte, 1898~1967) surrealistic works. In other words, Magritte's art secures a core dimension of human nature through a mysterious gap of conscious and settled space. Magritte's drawings often evokes strange and unsettling feelings in people who view his paintings. This is because routine objects are found in "unsuitable" places from which we usually find them in our everyday lives. "Reality" in Magritte's paintings makes it aware that it is a strained field of concealment and disclosure basically between truths, and we can learn that his behavior to overturn to paint in-visible things is finally an effort to restore the "real subject" to the viewer's reality. In other words, such reversion arouses a nostalgic desire for the objects existing in their original appearance as they are - natural condition that our gaze had not been distorted yet by anamorphic stains. - and the state when we are conscious of them normally. Such desire offers an opportunity for us to get out of mental depression rather than operates to us as an abnormal crack. It's a successive process of effort to search for lost subject and Paradise Lost facing up to reality of subject human that is to be a subject of world and life are ousted from their place by structure and authority of culture.

Recent developments in Smart Structures with very large scale embedded sensors and actuators have introduced new challenges in terms of data processing and sensor fusion. These smart structures are dynamically classified as a large-scale system with thousands of sensors and actuators that form the musculoskeletal of the structure, analogous to human body. In order to develop structural health monitoring and diagnostics with data provided by thousands of sensors, new sensor informatics has to be developed. The focus of our on-going research is to develop techniques and algorithms that would utilize this musculoskeletal system effectively; thus creating the intelligence for such a large-scale autonomous structure. To achieve this level of intelligence, three major research tasks are being conducted: development of a Bio-Inspired data analysis and information extraction from thousands of sensors; development of an analytical technique for Optimal Sensory System using Structural Observability; and creation of a bio-inspired decision-making and control system. This paper is focused on the results of our effort on the first task, namely development of a Neuro-Morphic Engineering approach, using a neuro-symbolic data manipulation, inspired by the understanding of human information processing architecture, for sensor fusion and structural diagnostics.

According to Mead's (1934) symbolic interaction theory, social roles are learned through interaction and experiences in everyday life. Over time, these rules of behavior become internalized and serve to structure one's actions accordingly. Ultimately, these rules provide us with a powerful means of controlling our actions, and in time, they define our identity. Transforming the socialization process is one's conscious interpretation of stimuli through the use of symbols. Furthermore, society's perceptual processes can be shaped by the symbols we learn. The meaning of symbols can be learned from a variety of social influences, one of which may be mediated messages and advertising. This paper attempts to establish a link between media exposure and one's perception of social reality regarding character judgments made of unknown others based on the target's product or brand usage. Using magazine advertisements for fictitious products, the experiment herein seeks to establish two fundamental goals: 1) to determine if perceptions can be manipulated via association with companion symbolic elements: and 2) to detect whether television exposure is a moderating factor. Respondents were asked their perceptions of both product quality and of product users.

The meridian theory(經絡學說) is one of the important Korean medical theories distinguishing it from western medicine. The meridian theory(經絡學說) can be divided broadly into meridians(經脈) and collaterals(絡脈). The studies on meridians(經脈) have been relatively advanced, but the studies on the collaterals(絡脈) has not been enough progressed so far. Fifteen main collaterals(十五絡脈) are the biggest and most important part of collaterals(絡脈). Unlike other collateral(絡脈), fifteen main collaterals(十五絡脈) have certain routes and their own collateral acupoints(絡穴). So we studied the structure of collateral(絡脈) mainly on fifteen main collaterals(十五絡脈). In addition, we searched the Asian symbolic-mathematical(象數學的) meaning of the fifteen main collaterals(十五絡脈) and newly described them. As a result, the concept of collaterals(絡脈) has been created by the accumulation of clinical experience later than that of meridians(經脈), and it has been formed while the meridian theory(經絡學說) were developed. The meaning of 'fifteen' in fifteen main collaterals(十五絡脈) could be analysed in three ways based on the result of symbolic-mathematical(象數 學的) study. According to those results, we could find that the structure of fifteen main collaterals(十五絡脈) in "Internal Classic(內經)" was accurate.

Go-Sul-Sik(高設式) On-Dol(溫突) houses have a combination of high Ma-Ru and high On-Dol structure. This type of house had been developed in the process of combining Ma-Ru with On-Dol. Go-Sul-Sik On-Dol houses give a clue to unveil exchanging process of Korean On-Dol and Ma-Ru. Go-Sul-Sik On-Dol can be understood as an architectural type of introducing On-Dol into the upper classes' Ma-Ru afterwards. Apparently, Go-Sul-Sik On-Dol houses were not a two-story building. But they had a two-story structure because of On-Dol rooms, which implied a symbolic rank and On-Dol's practicality as well as its being high. Go-Sul-Sik On-Dol houses were peculiar architectural type which realized lives of the very individual authority and symbolic representation within the strict Confucian society. It seemed to be derived from an alternative of the upper classes' architectural culture integrating an ideal into reality.

이 논문의 주된 목적은 경험주의적 언어관을 지탱해 왔던 '언어-경험 대응'이라는 가정이 근원적으로 그릇된 것이며, 그 가정에 근거한 문자적 의미 또한 공허한 이론적 가정의 산물이라는 점을 밝히려는 것이다. 필자는 체험주의적 시각에 의존해서 언어가 기호의 체계이며, 따라서 그 의미 또한 기호적으로 주어질 수밖에 없다는 점에 주목했다. 기호적 경험의 구조에 대한 체험주의적 해명에 따르면 기표의 의미는 그것에 기호적으로 사상되는 경험 내용이다. 나아가 기호적 사상이 본성적으로 부분적이라는 것은 기표와 사상되는 경험 내용 사이에 본성적 괴리가 존재한다는 것을 의미한다. 이러한 괴리는 일대일 대응의 원천적 불가능성을 의미하며, 그것은 문자적 의미의 불가능성을 의미한다. 이러한 새로운 구도 안에서 언어적 의미에 대한 해명은 기호적 경험에 대한 해명의 일부가 되어야 한다. 여기에서 객관주의가 가정했던 객관성은 발견되지 않을 것이다. 그러나 언어는 여전히 소통 가능한 정도의 안정성을 드러내며, 우리는 그 안정성의 근거를 신체적이고 물리적인 경험의 공공성에서 찾을 수 있을 것이다.

Myths and architectural spaces are cultural products symbolizing ideologies and objects respectively. Myth has the structure and the contents of a unique view of the world that reflects thoughts and representations of the nationalities. This study is about 'the spaces of the memory' adapted by the mythic tradition among many aspects of the Japanese tradition. The process of this study is illustrated as follows: At first, it mentions the concept of Gilbert Durand's mythic imaginaries and prototype with the method on how the myth is applied to the architectural spaces in the cultural context. Secondly, It clarifies basic meaning arrangement of the Japanese traditional spaces related to the myth. It shows sourceful 'prototipical system' that lies in the relation between thoughts and representations, regarding the shinto's spaces in terms of mythical imaginaries and Japanness. Thirdly, it ascertains mythical structure represented in the traditional space designs on terms with 'prototype' from symbolic system of the myth. It selects the cases among Japanese contemporary architects's works designed after 1960's, and analyses the meanings. In conclusion, it clarifies that this way can be a suggestion as the space design method combining the human's imaginary property with the time-stratigraphic region, and offering creative ideas for the strategy of the space design brand image that embraces a wide range of culture, ecology, and sensibility.

There were the rites and customs in building of the traditional houses. The purpose of this study is to search the meaning of the building rites, and to search the spatial structure and meaning of the traditional houses through the rites as establishing the true dwelling. The traditional houses show the oppositional structure of the sacred and profane through the rites and customs of the building as the communication with the gods and men. The traditional houses are the center of which the gods of four sides defined and have the cardinal points and vertical axis which has the mythical and symbolic meaning.

This is a study and work of furniture design adopted from a natural phenomenon, especially from the changing shapes of the moon. The drawer of furniture, a part frequently contacted with our hand (human body) is well related to the symbolism of the moon, which includes life conception and fertility. I created various forms of drawer handle shaped from the moon phases, which give a furniture design esthetical, symbolic and formative meanings. The characteristics of my drawer furniture designs are classified into 3 types. First, as the volumes of drawers increase, the handle shapes also change differently: old moon, crescent, half moon and full moon. Second, without keeping time order, drawers may have the same sizes with handles freely selected and arranged by formative accounts. Third, both increasingly changing type and freely selected and arranged type are combined to make a composite structure. In their simple geometric forms, these furnitures can provide nature intimacy, which fulfill the needs of our time.
