The use of beamforming is effective for users in limited power environments. However, when it is applied to the downlink of a cellular system with universal frequency reuse, users near the sector boundary may experience significant interference from more than one sector. The use of a minimum mean square error (MMSE)-type receiver may not sufficiently cancel out the interference unless a sufficient number of receive antennas are used. In this paper, we consider the use of inter-sector beamforming that cooperates with a neighboring sector in the same cell to mitigate this interference problem in time-division duplex (TDD) environments. The proposed scheme can avoid interference from an adjacent sector in the same cell, while enhancing the transmit array gain by using the TDD reciprocity. The performance of the proposed scheme is analyzed in terms of the output signal-to-interference-plus-noise power ratio (SINR) and the output capacity when applied to an MMSE-type receiver. The beamforming mode can be analytically switched between the inter-sector and the single-sector mode based on the long-term channel information. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed scheme is verified by computer simulation.

Recently, network model inspired by social insect behavior attracts the public attention. The AntNet is an adaptive and distributed routing algorithm using mobile agents, called ants, that mimic the activities of social insect. In this paper. we present a new hardware architecture to realize an AntNet-based routing in practical system on a chip application. The modified AntNet algorithm for hardware implementation is compared with the original algorithm on the various traffic patterns and topologies. Implementation results show that the proposed architecture is suitable and efficient to realize adaptive routing based on the AntNet.

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) has grown in popularity as a low-cost, flexible alternative to the classic public switched telephone network (PSTN) that offers advanced digital features. However, additional security vulnerabilities are introduced by the VoIP system's flexibility and the convergence of voice and data networks. These additional challenges add to the normal security challenges that a VoIP system's underlying IP data network infrastructure confront. As a result, the VoIP network adds to the complexity of the security assurance task faced by businesses that use this technology. It's time to start documenting the many security risks that a VoIP infrastructure can face, as well as analyzing the difficulties and solutions that could help guide future efforts in research & development. We discuss and investigate the challenges and requirements of VoIP security in this research. Following a thorough examination of security challenges, we concentrate on VoIP system threats, which are critical for present and future VoIP deployments. Then, towards the end of this paper, some future study directions are suggested. This article intends to guide future scholars and provide them with useful guidance.

For X-band phased array systems, a power amplifier, a 6-bit phase shifter, a 6-bit digital attenuator, and a SPDT transmit/receive (T/R) switch are fabricated and measured. All circuits are demonstrated by using CMOS 0.18 um technology. The power amplifier has 2-stage differential and cascade structures. It provides 1-dB gain-compressed output power ($P_{1dB}$) of 20 dBm and power-added-efficiency (PAE) of 19 % at 8-11 GHz frequencies. The 6-bit phase shifter utilizes embedded switched filter structure which consists of nMOS transistors as a switch and meandered microstrip lines for desired inductances. It has $360^{\circ}$ phase-control range and $5.6^{\circ}$ phase resolution. At 8-11 GHz frequencies, it has RMS phase and amplitude errors are below $5^{\circ}$ and 0.8 dB, and insertion loss of $-15.7\;{\pm}\;1,1\;dB$. The 6-bit digital attenuator is comprised of embedded switched Pi-and T-type attenuators resistive networks and nMOS switches and employes compensation circuits for low insertion phase variation. It has max. attenuation of 31.5 dB and 0.5 dB amplitude resolution. Its RMS amplitude and phase errors are below 0.4 dB and $2^{\circ}$ at 8-11 GHz frequencies, and insertion loss is $-10.5\;{\pm}\;0.8\;dB$. The SPDT T/R switch has series and shunt transistor pairs on transmit and receive path, and only one inductance to reduce chip area. It shows insertion loss of -1.5 dB, return loss below -15 dB, and isolation about -30 dB. The fabricated chip areas are $1.28\;mm^2$, $1.9mm^2$, $0.34\;mm^2$, $0.02mm^2$, respectively.

In this paper, we take advantage of the characteristics of optical burst switching (OBS) to support service-differentiation in optical networks. With the offset time between control packet and burst data, the proposed scheme uses different offset time of each service class. As contrasted with the Previous method, in which the high Priority service use only long offset time, it derives the burst loss rate as a QoS parameter in consideration of conservation law and given service-differential ratios and decides a reasonable offset time for this QoS finally Firstly proposed method classifies services into one of high or low class and is an algorithm deciding the offset time for supporting the required QoS of high class. In order to consider the multi-classes environment, we expand the analysis method of first algorithm and propose the second algorithm. It divides services into one of high or low group according to their burst loss rate and decides the offset time for high group, and lastly cumulates the offset time of each class. The proposed algorithms are evaluated through simulation. The result of simulation is compared with that of analysis to verify the proposed scheme.

In a MPLS(Multiprotocol Label Switching) network, it is important to reduce the number of labels and LSP(Lable Switched Path)s for network resource management. MTP(Multipoint-to-Point) LSP can be used to solve this problem. In consideration of traffic engineering, MTP LSP must be chosen to enhance the availability of network and link utilization. Also, a fast mechanism to setup MTP LSPs is required for rerouting capability against link failure. In this paper, we propose a fast MTP LSP traffic engineering of multipath MTP LSP by using a mapping of a MTP LSP upon Diffserv PHBs(Per Hop Behavior) in a Diffserv-capable MPLS network. In the proposed traffic engineering, we determine multiple MTP LSPs in a hierarchical manner according to the characteristics of different services. By using Monte-Carlo method for traffic load balancing process, it provides fast rerouting capability in case of frequent link failure across large network. Out method produces to be nearly optimal within reasonable run-times. It's time complexity is in O( Cn$^2$logn) as conventional multipath routing and it is much faster than Linear Programming approach. Simulation results show that the proposed traffic engineering can be controlled effectively in an administrative manner and enhance the availability of network in comparison with conventional multipath routing.

Wireless body area network (WBAN) is an emerging short-range wireless communication network with sensor nodes located on, in or around the human body for healthcare, entertainment and ubiquitous computing. In WBANs, energy is severely constrained which is the prime consideration in the medium access control (MAC) protocol design. In this paper, we propose a novel MAC protocol named Energy-efficient Relay MAC with dynamic Power Control (ERPC-MAC) to save energy consumption. Without relying on the additional devices, ERPC-MAC employs relaying nodes to provide relay service for nodes which consume energy fast. Accordingly the superframe adjustment is performed and then the network topology can be smoothly switched from single-hop to multi-hop. Moreover, for further energy saving and reliability improvement, the dynamic power control is introduced to adjust the power level whenever a node transmits its packets to the coordinator or the relaying node. To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first effort to integrate relay, topology adjustment and power control to improve the network performance in a WBAN. Comprehensive simulations are conducted to evaluate the performance. The results show that the ERPC-MAC is more superior to the existing standard and significantly prolongs the network lifetime.
As interest in mobile devices and networks has increased recently, voice over internet protocol (VoIP) service, which is a technology for transmitting voice data using an existing internet protocol (IP) network, has rapidly spread, Cheap voice call service has become possible. As the digital broadcasting service becomes popular, hybrid fiber coaxial (HFC) network technology, which uses broadband cable network through fusion of broadcasting and communication, utilizes existing communication system and network equipment to provide various new services such as interactive broadcasting service. Therefore, if UGS-AD is applied to VoCM and RTPS is applied to MTA in order to guarantee the quality of voice data in actual HFC Internet service network, it is possible to smoothly perform voice data transmission in narrow upstream band which is a problem in actual commercial HFC network We also proposed a method to improve VoIP service by improving QoS of voice data in HFC Internet service network.

In this paper, we evaluate the capacity of voice over internet protocol (VoIP) services over high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA), in which frame-bundling (FB) is incorporated to reduce the effect of relatively large headers in the IP/UDP/RTP layers. Also, a modified proportional pair (PF) packet scheduler design supporting for VoIP service is provided. The main focus of this work is the effect of FB on system outage based on delay budget in radio access networks. Simulation results show that VoIP system performance with FB scheme is highly sensitive to delay budget. We also conclude that HSDPA is attractive for transmission of VoIP if compared to the circuit switched (CS) voice that is used in WCDMA (Release'99).

In this paper, a new morphological image segmentation algorithm of hierarchical structure by binary split is proposed. It splits a region with the lowest quality into two regions using only two markers having the highest contrast. Therefore, it improves the quality of image with limited regions and reduces contour information which is not sensitive to human visual system, when compared with the conventional algorithm. It is appropriate to PSTN, LAN, and mobile networks, of which the available transmission bandwidth is very limited, because the number of regions can be controlled. And the proposed algorithm shows very simple structure because it doesn't need post processing to eliminate small regions and reduces much computation by using only structuring element of small size at simplification step of each hierarchical structure when compared with the conventional algorithm.
