  • In this paper we propose a fast booting technique based on Improved snapshot boot in embedded Linux, widely adopted in personal devices such as PDA and mobile phones. The existing Snapshot boot technique tries to create a snapshot image at the time of suspend, and later load the entire snapshot image into the system memory at the predefined location with the help of a bootloader at the time of resume. Since a bootloader has to copy the entire snapshot image into the predefined memory to resume the previous suspended computing state, a little bit long time is required to resume. Improved snapshot boot does not create a snapshot image consisting of whole memory pages at the time of suspend, thus resulting in smaller snapshot image than the existing snapshot boot. The remaining pages are in the swap area. The resulting smaller sized snapshot image enables much faster booting latency. Through the experiment, we can see the booting latency is reduced almost 30% with suspend image of 2982 pages. This result depends on the amount of swap-out pages.

  • This paper attempts to propose a method to improve the snapshot boot method, one of the methods to enhance the booting speed of the embedded Linux based system and to increase its efficiency. Snapshot boot is a method of using suspend/resume that is a method of saving and restoring the entire information of the current tasks, and it enhances the booting speed by processing a restoration of previous tasks from the bootloader instead of processing the Linux booting. The facing problem of snapshot boot is that it takes a long time to create images and save them to the storage device during the suspend process since it targets every pages. Additionally, if the switch is turned off while creating an image by some extraordinary circumstances, then the image is not created and thus, the resume process of snapshot boot cannot be executed. The suggest method in this paper creates the snapshot image for once only and utilize the image to enhance the speed and stability on booting.

  • In this research, we have selected the region of Jawoon river that is the area of high land vegetable growing in the upper Soyang Reservoir and we have observed actual floating materials that generate negative nutrition and turbidity of the Reservoir water and the changes of water quality by raining of each month for one year of 2005 in order to monitor the relationship of pollution sources by the outflow of rain water. In addition, we also have conducted statistical inspection methods such as correlation analysis and regression analysis on strength of raining force and rain continuance time among the elements affecting the outflow of floating materials.

  • This study aimed to elucidate the relationship between theoretical parameters affecting the coagulation process and the real coagulation phenomenon applied to the dye wastewater. Emphasis was placed on the effective removal of the suspend particulates. Parameters studied in this study are pH, coagulant concentration and surface potential. Optimal dosages of coagulants by the measurement of the zeta potential at lower then $25^{\circ}C$ are 5\times$10^P-3}$ M of $FeCl_3 and 1.4\times10^{-6}M of Fe_2(SO_4)_3$. The results were well agreeded with the separate Jar-test results. Emphasis was also placed on the relationship between water quality and the content of SS. It was found that the COD and DOC were reduced to 65% and 85%, respectively. The turbidity at the above condition was reduced from 300 NTU to 0~1 NTU. Efforts were made to clarify the behavior of the suspend solid as affecting the water quality. 12,000~13,000 particles/10mL in $1~50\mu$m size range particulates in the raw wastewater were reduced to 300 particle/10mL in the same range after treatment. This research has proposed the methodology to find out the optimal condition of coagulation for small scale wastewater treatment plant or chemical coagulation process.

  • Coastal areas, especially embayments are apt to be polluted easily and many embayments in Korea are already suffering from pollution problems. To manage such pollution, it is strongly needed to develop technique to trace movements of pollution. Such technique cove- ring the embayment affected by the tidal influence, should take account both of the convection and the diffusion motions which cause lots of problems in numerical calculation. In this study, a Eulerian-Lagrangian Analysis(ELA) model was applied to Young Il bay and tested for its applicablity, which was developed by using the Eulerian-Lagrangian Method that reduce the numerical disperison and oscillation by way of solving convection and diffusion terrns separately. Concentration of Chemical Oxygen Demand(COD) and Suspend Solid(SS) of the embay- ment area were estimated by the model and compared with the observed values and the sound results were obtained. At the same time the diffsion coefficient and decay coefficient for Chemical Oxygen Demand in the Young II Bay were found as Dx = Dy = 20m$^2$/sec, kd=2.5 ${\times}$ 10-5/sec respectively, and for Suspend Solid, Dx =Dy = 30m$^2$/sec, kd=5.0${\times}$ 10-5/sec

  • Purpose: According to the Occupational Safety and Health Act of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, in order to prevent industrial accidents, the right to stop work must be exercised in the event of an imminent danger. This study conducted a fact-finding survey on whether employers fulfilled the right to suspend work in the workplace when an imminent danger, such as a typhoon, was encountered. Method: For two days from August 9 to October, when the impact of Typhoon Khanun No. 6 was significant, it was confirmed by wire whether or not the work suspension was carried out at the workplace, and the subjects of the survey were 1,649 construction sites, 830 manufacturing sites, and 278 other industries, for a total of 2,757 sites. Result: As a result of the fact-finding survey, 56% (1,555 locations) on August 9th and 77% (2,142 locations) on August 10th carried out full or partial work suspension. In particular, on August 10, when the typhoon landed, 40% of all workplaces completely stopped work. Conclusion: Through this study, it was confirmed that the right to suspend work by employers is being used in actual workplaces. In the future, when there is an imminent danger, in addition to the right to suspend work, flexible and telecommuting, working hour adjustments, etc. must be actively used to ensure the safety of workers and protect their lives.

  • Growing threats from environments and natural disasters cause information systems to suspend the operation of business. To assure the continuity of business, information systems should not halt in the emergency. This paper suggests an evaluation method for importance of information systems and verifies the method in a real organization. The results to the study can be utilized for establishing business continuity of organizations.

  • CISG provides the Convention's default provisions on anticipatory breach. Article 71 permits the aggrieved party to suspend the performance of his obligations if it becomes apparent that the other party will not perform a substantial part of his obligations after the conclusion of the contract. The aggrieved party must give notice of the suspension to the other party and if he provides adequate assurance of his performance, the party must continue with performance. Article 72 authorizes the aggrieved party to avoid the contract to the date of performance when it is clear that the other party will commit a fundamental breach. The aggrieved party is also required to give the other party notice of his intent to avoid the contract if time allows. The requirements for avoidance under Article 72 are more stringent than those for suspension under Article 71. Article 72 requires reasonable prior notice only if time allows, while article 71 requires immediate notice with no exceptions.

  • As the performance of the mobile terminal becomes higher, the power consumption gradually increases. As a result, power management is one of the most important issues in mobile system with battery. In this paper, we describe an DPM(Dynamic Power Management) using DVS(Dynamic Power Management) as a power management mechanism in Qplus operating system. DVS generally considers a specific device such as CPU, whereas we consider the relations with other hardware components as well as each component. We specially focus on the relation between CPU, memory and LCD devices. We also designs a kernel monitor to collect information to decide the policy for power management. According to the experimental results, the proposed method enables to save much power.
