Effect of Assist Gas on Laser Induced Plasma and Bead Formation in Welding of Structural Steel by CW Nd:YAG Laser (철강재료 용접에서 보조가스가 레이저플라즈마와 용입특성에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study high power Nd:YAG laser welding of structural steel was investigated. For the test steel blocks of $50{\times}50{\times}200mm$ were cut and machined, and bead-on-plate weld was made on the machined surface. Argon, nitrogen, helium, dry air or mixed gases were used to find the effect of shielding conditions on the bead formation. Results demonstrated that there were Fe I rich region and Fe II rich region in the laser induced plasma column based on the spectral analysis with S-2000 field spectrometer The Fe I region was located at the root of the column near keyhole opening. On the other hand, Fe II region was found at the middle of the plasma column. In the Nd:YAG laser welding, Fe I region emitted continuum which had peak value at wave length of around 710nm, and Fe II region had the peak at 580nm. In the welding of steel by $CO_2$ laser, however, no continuum was observed. There showed two groups of strong spikes in the $CO_2$ laser welding; the first group was displayed at the wave band of 450-560nm. This spike group emitted stronger intensity of light and sharper peaks than those group at 680-800nm.

  • The four-dimensional cycle simulator, which can recognize whether the road is ascent or descent, its gradient, and status of its surface on Virtual Reality, is introduced in this paper. On the base of these recognitions, various virtual motion path situations are displayed on LCD monitor attached ahead. These various situations may support not only the sense of realty but also an interest in a game in opposition to previous exercise cycles that might be monotonous. In this paper both analysis and estimation of basic bodily abilities for the four-dimensional cycling are addressed.

  • In this paper, the characteristics and load carrying capacity of square pocket surfaces on a slider bearing are discussed for the thin film effect by the square pocket slider bearing. To study the lubrication, a Reynolds equation is used in this paper for the analysis of the slider bearing characteristics with square pocket surfaces. For numerical analysis, the central differencing scheme finite difference method is used. In a slider bearing with square pocket surfaces, the simulation dependent parameters such as pressure and load carrying capacity of the bearing can be acquired from the independent parameters, the slope of the slider bearing and number of pockets on the upper slider. These results can be acquired by the programmed softwar,e and they can be analyzed and stored in a sequential data file for later analysis. Furthermore, their pressure and load capacity distribution can be displayed easily by using the developed program with the Matlab GUI.

  • In this study, we evaluate the correlation between in vitro and in vivo determination of SPF of sunscreen products containing various ingredients depending on emulsification system. For in vitro approach, we determined SPF by the method of Diffey and Robson using an TransporeTM tape(3M Health care, USA) and SPF 290-analyzer(Optometrics Co. USA). SPF values and standard deviations are calculated and displayed after completion of the run. In vivo SPF values are determined according to KFDA (the Korea Food and Drug Administration) method in panels of Fitzpatrick's skin type II or III. We investigated the difference in SPF data of sunscreen ingredient according to emulsification system. The in vivo SPF data is high in water-in oil(W/O) emulsion than in oil-in water(O/W) emulsion samples. The difference may be due to the particular behavior in each vehicles and its presence on skin surface may produce a different sunscreen film. We obtained the corrlation coefficient between in vitro and in vivo SPF data for O/W (R-squre=0.72 )and W/O emulsion(R-squre=0.77). From these results, we suggest the improvement of methodology using Transpore$^{TM}$ tape as substrate to increase the predictability of in vitro method.d.

Finding the best combination of numerical schemes for 2-D SPH simulation of wedge water entry for a wide range of deadrise angles

  • Main aim of this paper is to find the best combination of numerical schemes for 2-D SPH simulation of wedge water entry. Diffusion term is considered as laminar, turbulent, and artificial viscosity. Density filter that seriously affects the pressure distribution is investigated by adopting no filter, first order filter, and second order filter. Validation of the results indicates that turbulent model and first order density filter can lead to more reasonable solutions. This simulation was then conducted for wedge water entry with wide range of deadrise angles including 10 degrees, 20 degrees, 30 degrees, 45 degrees, 60 degrees and 81 degrees, with extreme deadrise angles of 10 degrees, 60 degrees and 81 degrees being considered. Comparison of SPH results with BEM solutions has displayed favorable agreement. In two particular cases where experimental data are available, the SPH results are shown to be closer to the experiments than BEM solution. While, accuracy of the obtained results for moderate deadrise angles is desirable, numerical findings for very small or very large deadrise angles are also very reasonable.

A Study on the Fine Structural Changes of Porcine Ovarian Follicles during Atresia (돼지 난소내 여포의 폐쇄에 따른 미세구조의 변화에 관한 연구)

  • This experiment has been done in order to study the correlation between the ultrastructure changes and the atresia phenomenon of the follicles in porcine ovary. The ovaries were assorted according to the presence or absence of corpus luteum. Thereafter, the follicles were classified into normal, pyknotic, necrotic and cystic groups by atretic characteristics on the histological observation, and then their ultrastructures were examined with an electron microscope. The results were as followings. 1. In normal group, granulosa cells represented the ultrastructural characteristics of protein-synthesizing cells. Since the initiation of atresia, the line structure of granulosa cells showed many of the characteristic features of steroid-secreting cells, followed by gradual pyknosis. 2. In necrotic group of the ovary without corpus luteum, the theca interns became hypertrophic and displayed the ultrastructural features of active steroidsecreting cells. But this phenomenon was not seen in the follicles of the ovary with corpus luteum. 3. Degenerative changes of cumulus cells were similar to those of granulosa cells, and the degenerating oocytes showed the degeneration of cellular organelles, cytoplasmic vacuolization and disappearance of microvilli on the surface. The degeneration of granulosa cells tended to procede that of oocytecumulus complex in the follicles of the ovary having no corpus luteum, but this tendency was reversed in the case of presence of corpus luteum. Identification of a Peptide Enhancing Mucosal and SystemicImmune Responses against EGFP after Oral Administration in Mice

  • Gangliosides are receptors for various peptides and proteins including neuropeptides, ${\beta}$-amyloid proteins, and prions. Recently, the role of gangliosides in mucosal immunization has attracted attention due to the emerging interest in oral vaccination. Ganglioside GM1 exists in abundance on the surface of the M cells of Peyer's patch, a well-known mucosal immunity induction site. In the present study we identified a peptide ligand for GM1 and tested whether it played a role in immune induction. GM1-binding peptides were selected from a phage-displayed dodecapeptide library and one peptide motif, GWKERLSSWNRF, was fused to the C-terminus of enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP). The fusion protein, but not EGFP fused with a control peptide, was concentrated around Peyer's patch after incubation in the lumen of the intestine ex vivo. Furthermore, oral feeding of the fusion protein but not control EGFP induced mucosal and systemic immune responses against EGFP resembling Th2-type immune responses.

  • Determination of operational dimensions and tolerances is complex if there exist inconsistencies between operational and design specifications. Dimension and tolerance charts (D&T charts) have been used to establish the relationships among operational dimensions in complex machining. This chart proves that individual operations can be harmonized when they are interconnected. However, it is hard to generate the chart manually. Because operational dimensions and tolerances must meet the design specifications, the dimensions and tolerances of interconnected operations have to be verified serially for economical operations. In this paper, the chart is automatically generated from the interconnected operations. More importantly, all operational dimensions and tolerances displayed in the chart have been verified by using LP to meet the design specifications. Finally, the chart is converted to an operational routing sheet that contains a detailed process plan along with cutting speed, feed rate, and operational references based on material hardness, surface finish, and tool nose radius.

  • As a display becomes large recently, Acquisition of high luminance and Luminance uniformity is becoming difficult in the existing CCFL or EEFL backlight system. So, study for a performance enhancement has enforced. but lamp development of flat type is asked for high luminance and a luminance uniformity security in of LCD and area anger trend ultimately. In this paper, we changed a tip shape of an electrode for production by the most suitable LCD backlight surface light source, and confirmed discharge characteristic along discharge gas pressure and voltage, and confirmed electric field distribution and discharge energy characteristic through a Maxwell 2D simulation. Therefore the discharge firing voltage characteristic showed a low characteristic than a rectangular type and round type in case of electrode which used tip of a triangle type, and displayed a discharge electric current as a same voltage was low.

  • De Stijl in order to began in the Netherlands in 1917 is an art movement that becomes the theoretical background of modernism design was the foundation geometric abstraction. Steel design for that they offered a new paradigm at that time art, in various fields such as industrial design is still applied, especially works of De Stijl in the design area of urniture it became the beginning of the modern furniture. The starting point of this study is to analyze the two-dimensional representation characteristics to understand the background of the formation with the basic concepts of De Stijl. Therefore the generation of the surface to be displayed in the work of De Stijl and to analyze the divided element, and not if learn their expression characteristics. Also the line and the plane of the two-dimensional modeling properties of De Stijl, after described colors, and studied the characteristics of De Stjil writers for typical analyzes the moldability shown in their work, which based on, we try to present a new representation technique.
