  • Over the past ten years we have wethnessed a revolution in metalcutting in the field of High Speed Machining. As machining speeds continue to increase, particularly spindle RPM, forces created by unbalance in the spindle, cutting tool, and toolholder require close attaention. It has been observed that these forces, if left uncompensated, can results in poor surface finish, loss of tool life, and spindle bearing failure. The sources of this unbalance needs to be identified and elimated in order to create a smooth, vibration free condition and allow the machine tool and its spindle to operate properly.

  • Modern architecture's optical mechanism focused on Ocuularcentrism neglects the tactility of vision and tends to eliminate the optical and tactile dualism of traditional spaces by representing spaces and surfaces that are abstract and cold-hearted. In other words, all sensory experiences, except for visual experiences, are eliminated to make it impossible to create the substantial core of architecture that combines time, image, and surface textures. The fast-changing social trends, the emergence of new materials and technologies, and the corresponding development of various types of media since the Industrial Revolution have changed the paradigm of human perception and representation. With the development of media, other sensory experiences besides visual experience have been stressed and human perception has converted from single perspective to complex perspective. In result, new sensory items, such as visual tactility, have replaced the traditional vision-centered hierarchy. The composition of architectural surfaces has represented the functional and commercial needs of technology, structure, as well as the socio-cultural needs of the community. In contemporary times, it is being changed and developed by the new tactility and the corresponding expression of modern architecture. Based on the visual representation of tactility of architectural surface, this study used a composition of surface that combines various events, meanings, and senses to examine how architecture can mediate and reproduce viewers' visual experiences and discover the existential relationship between architecture and men.

두꺼운 축대칭 회전쉘의 3차원적 진동해석 (Three-Dimensional Vibration Analysis of Thick Shells of Revolution)

  • 속이 빈 축대칭 회전체인 두꺼운 쉘의 정확한 고유진동수와 모우드형상을 결정하기 위해서 3차원적인 해석방법이 사용되었다. 이 축대칭 회전쉘의 모선을 직선으로 한정하지 않았으며, 쉘의 두께 또한 일정한 것으로 제한하지 않았다. 이 쉘의 중앙면은 임의의 곡율을 가지며, 쉘의 두께도 임의적으로 변한다. 자오선방향, 두께방향, 원주방향으로의 변위 성분인$U_\Phi, U_z, U_\theta$는 시간반응의 정현성(sinusoidal)과$\theta$방향으로의 주기성을 지니며,$\Phi$와 z 방향으로는 대수다항 식의 형태로 가정되었다. 이 쉘의 변형률에너지와 운동에너지를 공식화하였으며, 진동수의 최소화를 통해 상위경계치의 진동수를 구하고 다항식의 차수를 증가시켜 엄밀해에 수렴된 진동수를 구할 수 있다. 선형적으로 두께가 변하는 두꺼운 원추형쉘과 구형쉘에 대한 예를 통하여 하위 다섯 개의 진동수에 대해서 유효 숫자 4자리까지의 정확한 수렴성연구가 이루어졌다. 이 해석 방법은 두께가 매우 두꺼운 쉘 뿐만이 아니라 얇은 쉘에도 적용이 가능하다

선박 조종성능 평가를 위한 옥외 자유항주모형시험의 불확실성 해석 (Uncertainty Assessment of Outdoor Free-Running Model Tests for Evaluating Ship Maneuverability)

  • An outdoor free-running model test system was designed for assessing ship maneuverability with test uncertainty. The test model was a surface combatant of tumblehome hull geometry. The straight forward tests were conducted first to obtain the relationship between the propeller revolution rate and advance speed. During the outdoor tests, the propeller revolution rate to achieve a certain Froude number condition was higher than that in the indoor free-running model tests. Turning circle and zigzag tests for evaluating ship maneuverability criteria were carried out at the propeller revolution rate determined by the straight forward test results. The random and systematic standard uncertainties of maneuvering criteria were obtained by repeated tests and comparison with the indoor free-running model test results, respectively. The test uncertainty was largely dominated by the systematic standard uncertainty, while the random standard uncertainty was small with good repeatability.

  • 로우터리 경운(耕耘)날의 회전속도(回轉速度) 및 작업속도(作業速度)가 경운소요(耕耘所要)토오크에 미치는 영향을 분석(分析)하기 위(爲)하여, 형상각(形狀角) ${\theta}=30^{\circ}$, $40^{\circ}$인 2종(種)의 경운(耕耘)날로 로우터리축(軸)을 204, 243, 285, 360rpm 4단계로, 전진속도(前進速度)는 29.40cm/s, 46.93cm/s로 변화(變化)시키면서 인공토양조(人工土壤槽)에서 dynamic strain gage system을 이용(利用)하여 경운소요(耕耘所要)토오크를 측정분석(測定分析)한 결과(結果)를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. 1. 경운(耕耘)날의 회전속도(回轉速度) 및 전진속도(前進速度)는 경운소요(耕耘所要)토오크에 교호작용(交互作用)으로 영향(影響)을 미치는 것으로 분석(分析)되었으며, response surface analysis를 통(通)하여 분석(分析)한 수학적(數學的)인 모형(模型)은 다음과 같다. $$T=a_0+a_1V+a_2R+a_3VR+a_4VR^2$$ 여기서 T=경운소요(耕耘所要)토오크 (kg-m) $a_0$=당(當)수(數) $a_1,\;a_2,\;a_3,\;a_4$= 계(係)수(數) V=경운장치(耕耘裝置)의 전진속도(前進速度) (cm/s) R=경운(耕耘)날의 회전속도(回轉速度) (rpm) 2. 최대경운소요(最大耕耘所要)토오크는 로우터리날 회전속도(回轉速度)가 증가(增加)함에 따라 ${\frac{{\partial}T}{{\partial}V}}$는 증가(增加)하였으며, 200~220rpm에서 증가율(增加率)이 최저(最低)가 되었고, 같은 조건(條件)에서 ${\frac{{\partial}T}{{\partial}R}}$은 감소(減少)하는 경향(傾向)이었으며, 전진속도(前進速度)가 증가(增加)함에 따라 감소율(減少率)은 증가(增加)되었다. 3. 평균경운소요(平均耕耘所要)토오크는 회전속도(回轉速度)가 320~360rpm에서 ${\frac{{\partial}T}{{\partial}R}}$의 變化가 적었으며, ${\frac{{\partial}T}{{\partial}R}}$은 회전속도(回轉速度)가 증가(增加)함에 따라 감소율(減少率)이 증가(增加)되었다. 4. 전진속도(前進速度)에 대(對)한 토양(土壤)의 단위체적당(單位體積當) 평균경운소요(平均耕耘所要)토오크의 변화율(變化率)${\frac{{\partial}T}{{\partial}R}}$는 270~300rpm에서 최저(最低)가 되었으며, ${\frac{{\partial}T}{{\partial}R}}$은 V=29.40cm/s와 V=46.93cm/s일때 변화율(變化率)이 280~290rpm에서 교착(交錯)하였다. 5. 로우터리날의 형상각(形狀角)이 증가(增加)함에 따라 순경운소요동력(純耕耘所要動力)은 증가(增加)하였다. 그러나 실제(實際) 이용면(利用面)에서는 형상각(形狀角)이 작으면 로우터리날에 검불이 감기게 되므로 소요동력(所要動力)이 크게 증가(增加)함을 보여주는 연구결과도 있다. 그러므로 형상각(形狀角) 변화(變化)에 대(對)해서는 계속 연구(硏究)되어야 할 과제(課題)라 인정(認定)된다.

Shell forms for egg-shaped concrete sludge digesters: A comparative study on structural efficiency

  • The structural feasibility of a variety of non-conventional sludge digesters, in the form of thin shells of revolution constructed in concrete, has formed the subject of investigation of a recent programme of research at the University of Cape Town. Such forms are usually known in the literature as "egg-shaped", and the advantages of these over conventional digesters of the wide-cylindrical type are now well-recognised: superior mixing efficiency, less accumulation of deposits at the bottom, easier removal of bottom deposits and surface crust, reduced heat losses, and so forth. With the aim of exploring the structural feasibility of various non-conventional forms for concrete sludge digesters, and making available usable analytical data and practical guidelines for the design of such thin shell structures, a number of theoretical studies have recently been undertaken, and these have covered conical assemblies, spherical assemblies and parabolic ogival configurations. The purpose of the present paper is to bring together the different analytical approaches employed in each of these studies, summarise the main findings in each case, draw comparisons among the various studied configurations with regard to structural efficiency and functional suitability, and make appropriate conclusions and recommendations.

유성볼밀링으로 제조한 2성분 정제의 인장강도 변화 (Tensile Strength Variation of Binary Tablets Produced by Planetary Ball Milling)

  • Planetary ball mill was used to decrease and control the particle size of excipients. The effects of the weight of sample and the revolution number of mill, and grinding time on the particle size of the ground sample were analyzed by response surface methodology. The optimum conditions for the milling of microcrystalline cellulose were 38.82 g of the weight of sample and 259 rpm of the revolution number of mill, and 45 minutes of grinding time. The predicted value of the particle size at the these conditions was $19.02{\mu}m$, of which the experimental value at the similar conditions was $18.68{\mu}m$. The tensile strength of tablets of single-component powders, such as microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose and starch, binary mixtures and ground binary mixtures of these powder were measured at various relative densities. It was found that the logarithm of the tensile strength of the tablets was proportional to the relative density. A simple model, based upon Ryshkewitch-Duckworth equation that was originally proposed for porous materials, has been developed in order to predict the relationship between the tensile strength and relative density of ground binary tablets based on the properties of the constituent single-component powders. The validity of the model has been verified with experimental results for ground binary mixtures. It has demonstrated that this model can well predict the tensile strength of ground binary mixtures based upon the properties of single-component powders, such as true density, and the compositions. When the tensile strength of the mixture of microcrystalline cellulose hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose (90:10) and the ground mixture of them were compared, the tensile strength of the ground mixture decreased widely from 45.3 to 5.6% compared to the mixture in case the relative density of tablets was in the range of $0.7{\sim}0.9$. When the tensile strength of the mixture of microcrystalline cellulose starch (80:20) and the ground mixture of them were compared, the tensile strength of the ground mixture decreased widely from 31.0 to 11.6% compared to the mixture in case the relative density of tablets was in the range of $0.7{\sim}0.9$.

석유 팬 히터의 연소실 주변 열전달 특성 (Heat transfer characteristics around a circular combustion chamber of kerosene fan heater)

  • This paper was studied to understand the characteristics of heat transfer coefficients and surface temperature distributions around a circular combustion chamber within the heat-intercept duct of kerosene fan heater. The experiment was carried out in the heat-intercept duct of kerosene fan heater attached to the blow-down-type subsonic wind tunnel with a test section of 240 mm * 240 mm * 1200 mm. The purpose of this paper was to obtain the basic data related with normal combustion for new design from conventional kerosene fan heater, and to investigate the effect of surface temperature, local and mean heat transfer coefficients versus flow-rate of convection axial fan according to the variations of heat release conditions from kerosene fan heater during normal combustion. Consequently it was found that (i) the revolution of convection axial fan during combustion had a smaller value than that of non-combustion because of the thermal resistance due to the high temperature in the heat-intercept duct, (ii) the pressure ratio P$_{2}$/P$_{1}$ had a comparatively constant value of 0.844 according to the revolution increase of turbo fan and the heating performance of kerosene fan heater had a range of 1,494 ~ 3,852 kcal/hr, (iii) the local heat transfer coefficient around a circular combustion chamber had a comparatively larger scale in the range of 315 deg. < .theta. < 45 deg. than that in the range of 90 deg. < .theta. < 270 deg. as a result of heat transfer difference between front and back of a circular combustion chamber, and (iv) the mean heat transfer coefficient around a circular combustion chamber increased linearly like a H$_{m}$=95.196Q+104.019 in condition of high heat release according to the increase of flow-rate of axial fan.n.

음대수 함수를 이용한 회전체를 위한 곡면 설계 도구의 구현 (Construction of Revolved-Surface Design Tools Using Implicit Algebraic Functions)

  • 주어진 제약조건을 만족시키는 부드러운 곡선과 곡면을 찾으려는 많은 시도와 노력이 계속되어 왔고, 보간과 근사 이론의 발달과 컴퓨터의 등장은 이러한 요구를 충족시키기 위한 중요한 역할을 하게 되었다. 곡선과 곡면을 모델링하는 지금까지의 많은 연구가 매개변수에 의한 방법에 집중되어 왔으나 모델링 시스템에서 물체를 표현할 때, 몇가지 문제에 직면하게 되었다. 따라서 최근에는 다항 방정식의 형태로 표현되는 음대수 곡선, 곡면에 대한 연구에 많은 관심을 갖게 되었고, 상대적으로 낮은 차수를 갖는 곡면을 만들 수 있게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 음대수 함수를 이용하여 표현된 곡선 및 곡면에 대한 기하학적 성질과 수학적인 계산 과정을 정리하고 이런 기본 배경을 바탕으로 여러 가지 방법을 이용하여 사용자가 원하는 곡선과 대칭성을 갖는 회전체 곡면을 쉽게 설계할 수 있는 도구의 구현에 대해 설명한다. 이렇게 구현된 회전체는 CAD나 CAM과 같은 실용적인 분야에서 대칭성을 갖는 복잡한 물체를 설계할 때, 중요한 역할을 할 수 있을 것이다.

Fine Blanking의 가장자리 Bridge 최소화 방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on Edge Bridge Minimization of Fine Blanking Process)

  • Industrialization and modernization of the beginning of the IT industry is growing very fast. Since telecommunications industry was developed rapidly, technologies about miniaturization and high-precision of parts have been actively developed to lead information revolution. generally, the entire shear surface of the product applying fine blanking technology must be very precise. Fine blanking is used to save cost by avoiding post-processing of the product. When using press blanking, it spends a lot of money on the production by using many post-processing. Fine blanking typically used in 0.5~18 mm thick steel plate. Because a lot of post-processing cost can be used to process, except for fine blanking. In order to develop components "CHANCE CONTENTS" in the fine blanking process, the purpose of this study is to minimize the edge of the bridge, secured 95% of the material thickness of the shear surface using the 1.6 mm thickness of the material SPCC. Blanking process by introducing after changing thickness through forging process, due to change in vee-rring force and counter force, the experimental amount of depressions and flatness and the shear surface were analyzed.
