Applying the Robust Force Tracking Controller to assist the Sealing Robot System on a Concrete Surface (강인한 힘 추적 제어기를 적용한 콘크리트 표면 추종 로봇 시스템)

  • The sealing robot must be able to calculate the slope of a contact surface for complete adherence of the sealing on different concrete shapes. After the slope is obtained, the robot will track on the surface of the concrete, but this process contains an error in the actual purpose of the force command. The reason this a phenomenon occurs, the non-linearity of the contact surface and the end-effector, is due to parasitic coupling. Errors like make it difficult to measure accurately the respective factors. Therefore, it is regarded as a disturbance that occurs when it follows the work surface it. In this paper, we selected the friction coefficient of the surface as a control factor and designed a compensator to reduce effects of disturbance. Finally, in view of the non-linearity of the end-effector of a robot to contact surfaces directly, we propose a robust force tracking controller in the finite range for managing disturbances that occur during the sealing.

  • Cooling lubricants are used in machining operations in order to reduce friction at the tool-chip and tool-workpiece interfaces, cool both chip and tool, and remove chip. Furthermore, they influence a strong effect on the shearing mechanisms and, consequently, on the machined surface quality and tool wear. However, several researchers state that the costs related to cutting fluids is frequently higher than those related to cutting tools. Moreover, the cooling lubricants cause an increase in both worker's health and social problems related to their use and correct disposal. Therefore, many researchers have focused on the environmentally conscious machining technologies. One of the technologies is known as MQL(Minimum Quantity Lubrication) machining. In this paper, an experimental model to obtain the optimal cutting conditions in MQL turning was suggested, and the effects of cutting conditions on surface roughness and cutting force were analyzed. For these purposes, FFD (Fractional Factorial Design) and RSM (Response Surface Methods) were used for the experiment. Cutting force and surface roughness with different cutting conditions were measured through the external cylindrical turning of Al 6061 based on the experiment plan. The measured data were analyzed by regression analysis and verification experiments with random conditions were conducted to confirm the suggested experimental model.

  • We examined theory for force-induced unbinding on a two-dimensional free energy surface where the internal dynamics of biomolecules is coupled with the rupture process under constant tension f. We show that only if the transition state ensemble is narrow and activation barrier is high, the f-dependent rupture rate in the 2D potential surface can faithfully be described using an effective 1D energy profile.

  • In this study an experimental investigation was conducted to assesment of cutting ability for CBN ball end-milling, STD11 and NAK80 materials. The cutting force and surface roughness of the work-pieces were obtained in machining center. The assessment of CBN tools were inspected through the tool dynamotor and SEM. When $30^{\circ}$ negative rake angle, the wear and cutting force were good, surface roughness was better at cutting fluid during CBN cutting.

  • Solenoid type magnetic actuator is the device, which could translate the electromagnetic energy to mechanical force. The force generated by magnetic flux, could be calculated by Maxwell stress tensor method. Maxwell stress tensor method is influenced by the magnetic flux path. Thus, magnetic force could be improved by modification of the iron case, which is the route of the magnetic flux. Modified design is obtained by parameter optimization using by Response surface methodology.

  • To improve the surface waviness in the peripheral milling, since the tool deflection is largely affected by cutting force, the feedrate is controlled so that the cutting force measured in the normal direction to the workpiece is constant. A discrete time first order model between the feedrate and the tool deflection is derived for the control. The experimental results show that the surface waviness is greatly improved by the proposed method.

  • Over the past few years, intelligent tire is developed very actively for more accurate measurement of real-time tire forces generated during vehicle driving situation. Information on the force of intelligent tire could be used very usefully to chassis control systems of a vehicle. Intelligent tire is based on deformation of tire's inner surface from the waveform of a SAW, or Surface Acoustic Wave. The tire vertical force is estimated by using variance analysis of sensor signals. The estimated tire vertical force is compared with the tire vertical force generated during vehicle driving situation in real-time environment. The scope of this paper is a correlation study between the measured sensor signals and the tire vertical force generated during vehicle driving situation.

  • People are always pursuing the aesthetic feeling relentlessly. But some people have such problems with their hairs like alopecia, cancer chemotherapy, burns, and scalp injury. So the synthetic hair has played a very important role to make up for these deficiencies. But long term use can lead to adverse reactions or uncomfortable feeling. This is primarily caused by its properties differ with human hair. In particular, nanotribological characterizations (roughness, friction force and adhesive force) of synthetic hair surface are dissatisfy with the needs of normal hairs. This paper presents the experiments on nanotribological characterizations measurements of human hairs (coloring hair, permed hair and common hair) in shampooing condition or without shampooing condition. Using atomic force microscopy (AFM) to find out a range of synthetic hair nanotribological characterizations which can correspond with natural hair. The measurements of nanotribological characterizations focus on surface roughness, friction force and adhesive force, and a new design of AFM probe was used for measuring the nanotribological characterizations.

  • More force must be applied when dragging a wet compared with a dry cloth lying on the table. Increased force is needed because the fluid between the cloth and the surface of the table produces an adhesion force. In this paper, we study the adhesion force between a wet cloth and the surface of an object. To compute the adhesion force, we used the adhesion force model used in textile research based on real-world experiments and also considered the effect of wrinkles, which, to our knowledge, has not been investigated in previous work. Furthermore, we studied the phenomenon in which a wet cloth adheres to the surface of an object and that in which a wet cloth adheres to itself when undergoing self-collision.

A Captive Model Test on Hydrodynamic Force and Neutral Level Flight of BB2 Submarine in Straight Operation at Near Free Surface with Different Depths (자유수면 근처에서 직진하는 BB2 잠수함의 심도별 유체력과 중립운항에 대한 구속모형시험 연구)

  • In this study, the force and moment acting on a Joubert BB2 submarine model at depths near the free surface were measured through a captive model test with the scale ratio of 1/15. Based on the experiment, the pitch moment and heave force due to the "Tail suction effect", including the change in surge force with depth near the free surface, were quantitatively analyzed. The change of force and moment according to the relative position of the sail and the free surface was reviewed with the free surface waves generated for each depths. As a result, the angle of attack of the hull to counteract the pitch moment induced by the tail suction effect was derived. The effect of the hydrostatic moment component according to the angle of attack on the equilibrium of pitch moment was also taken into account. The control plane performance tests for the X-type rudder and sail plane were conducted in snorkel and surface depth conditions to figure out the control plane angles for the neutral level flight of the submarine at near free surface. The results of this study are expected to be used as a reference data for the neutral level flight of the submarine at near free surface operation in the free running model test as well as numerical studies.
