  • The surface adsorbed protein conformations onto the vaccine adjuvants were observed with a Raman spectroscopy by using the maximum adsorption conditions described previously. The adsorbed state Raman vibrational spectra and subsequent spectral analysis display no conformational changes for BSA or IgG relative to their native species in solution.

  • We have developed a high-contrast ambient-light rejection projection screen with surface micro-structures for front and rear projection displays with an oblique-angle projector. We have fabricated prototype screens that show a better than $10{\times}$ improvement in contrast compared to a matte-white screen under various ambient lighting conditions and screen luminance.

  • $Orgacon^{TM}$ products, based on the conducting polymer PEDOT/PSS, are very promising materials in cost-effective R2R production of large area electronics. This presentation will show both the progress in the surface resistance/VLT and progress in the stability (T/R.H. and light stability). A new generation of films, coating formulations and inks will be presented.

  • Anchoring energy of liquid crystals on solid substrates is a key parameter in liquid crystal technology. A nonperturbative method of its measurement by dynamic light scattering on thermal orientational fluctuations is presented, The ratio of the zenithal and azimuthal anchoring coefficients is shown to be equal to the ratio of the orientational elastic constants.

  • CRTs can survive in the long run for TV applications, because of their realistic reproduction of live images. CRT technology development has to be directed towards form factor, but also attention has to be paid to the form design of sets. The CRT is the only technology allowing a doubly curved screen surface.

  • Optical compensation films are widely used to enlarge viewing angle characteristics for LCDs. A new surface film with an inner light scattering layer was newly developed to improve gray scale inversion. This paper describes technologies regarding these films that enhance the viewing angle characteristics for LCDs.
