An Analysis of Future Ship Operation System under the e-navigation Environment

  • It is clearly understood that e-navigation is beneficial to prevent collision and grounding of ships. The purpose of this study is to define and present a future ship operation system under the e-navigation environment in order to provide clear direction for the design of Korean e-navigation system. The future ship operation system consists of shipboard navigational system, shore supporting system and maritime communication system. To achieve the objectives of this study, the ship operation system was discussed separately into SOLAS ships and non-SOLAS ships in this study. In SOLAS ships, mariners become a system manager, choosing system presets, interpreting system output, and monitoring vessel response. In small ships and fishing vessels, mariners may enjoy their navigation by using the automatic tracking of ship's position on the portable electronic chart display. The improved bridge design, integrated and harmonized navigational system and single window reporting will reduce significantly the administrative and physical workload of mariners. Mariners can concentrate their attention more on navigational duty under the e-navigation environment. To build an effective Korean e-navigation system, the essential navigational functions and e-navigation services for small ships and fishing vessels must be identified and developed taking into account user needs.

  • Recently, the cases that many works of the korean independent animation advance to the world by steps and some of them win the grand prix in famed global animation film festival are proving the growth potential and competitiveness. In this situation, to guarantee the continuous, and reliable as well, growth and international competitiveness of it, it is needed to ensure the government's systematic supports. Although it is a bit leaned toward the creative animation for a theater, however, or many kinds of supporting system are established and carried out, independent animation is still suffering from the financial pressure. As of now, it is must be considered of the international standing of korean independent animation and is needed to be discussed how the government's supporting systems are proceeding and what they are performing. From this point of view, this paper will study the present condition and international standing of the korean independent animation, and further, will examine and analyze the on-going supporting systems. This, consequently, intends to present the direction of government's system to promote the korean independent animation.

Finite Element Modal Analysis of a Spinning Flexible Disk-spindle System Supported by Hydro Dynamic Bearings and Flexible Supporting Structures in a HDD (유연한 지지 구조와 유체 동압 베어링으로 지지되는 HDD의 회전 유연 디스크-스핀들 시스템에 대한 유한 요소 고유 진동 해석)

  • The free vibration of a spinning flexible disk-spindle system supported by hydro dynamic bearings (HDB) in an HDD is analyzed by FEM. The spinning flexible disk is described using Kirchhoff plate theory and von Karman non-linear strain, and its rigid body motion is also considered. It is discretized by annular sector element. The rotating spindle which includes the clamp, hub, permanent magnet and yoke, is modeled by Timoshenko beam including the gyroscopic effect. The flexible supporting structure with a complex shape which includes stator core, housing, base plate, sleeve and thrust pad is modeled by using a 4-node tetrahedron element with rotational degrees of freedom to satisfy the geometric compatibility. The dynamic coefficients of HDB are calculated from the HDB analysis program, which solves the perturbed Reynolds equation using FEM. Introducing the virtual nodes and the rigid link constraints defined in the center of HDB, beam elements of the shaft are connected to the solid elements of the sleeve and thrust pad through the spring and damper element. The global matrix equation obtained by assembling the finite element equations of each substructure is transformed to the state-space matrix-vector equation, and the associated eigen value problem is solved by using the restarted Arnoldi iteration method. The validity of this research is verified by comparing the numerical results of the natural frequencies with the experimental ones. Also the effect of supporting structures to the natural modes of the total HDD system is rigorously analyzed.

  • This study aims to analyze the effect of franchisor's pre-open support services on franchisee's relationship quality and performance in foodservice franchise system. The analysis data was collected from 500 franchisees located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do of Republic of Korea. The finding are as followings: firstly, the factors of information providing, market researching, interior and equipment supporting, education and training supporting, sale and promotion supporting, and legal supporting influence positively franchisee's satisfaction. Second, regarding relationship among relationship quality, satisfaction positively influences trust and commitment, and trust positively influence commitment. Third, relationship quality influences positively both financial and non-financial performance.

  • When planning gripper TBM, which is highly applicable to urban areas, the excavation characteristics are not considered. In addition the excavation stability and constructability are degraded by installing reinforcements in the adjacent construction site considering the relaxation load theory of the pre-existing NATM. In this study, a rationalization plan for the support was proposed considering the excavation characteristics of gripper TBM when planning reinforcements for adjacent pre-existing construction. The effect of excavation on the surrounding ground was analyzed by conducting three-dimensional stability analyses considering the construction stage for each excavation phase. In NATM, relaxation phenomenon is concentrated in tunnel face due to non-supporting time occurring simultaneously with excavation, but gripper TBM supports the ground around the tunnel face through the cutter head and skin plate, simultaneously causing ground relaxation behind the skin plate. Considering these excavation characteristics, problems in reinforcement planning for adjacent construction at the study site were pointed out. A performance improvement plan for a reasonable supporting system was proposed.

  • According to government supporting a renewable generation, a number of industrial MW photovoltaic systems have already been installed and rapidly increased. Even though the supporting is increased, analysis on power valuation and roll of a photovoltaic system are insufficient. In this paper, comparative analysis on characteristic of photovoltaic power system are illustrated as basic of power valuation by collecting power and irradiation data from MW photovoltaic system on wide area.

  • This study is to design a Semantic Navigation Retrieval System for Oriental Medicine Articles based on a XTM so that people can search and use them more effectively than before. Keywords extracted from articles are categorized 4 topics : herbs, prescription, disease, and action. Keywords analysis Ontology is modeled based on 4 topics and their relations, and then represented Topic maps. Next, Article analysis Ontology is consist of title, author, keywords, abstracts and organization Topics from metadata. Keywords and Article analysis Ontology were integrated through Keywords Topic. Korean Medical Article Retrieval System is optimistic in terms on search results supporting semantic navigation in the information service aspects and easier accessibility because all related information are semantically connected with each different DBs.

Numerical study of a new constructive sequence for movable scaffolding system (MSS) application

  • This paper consists in a study of a new contructive sequence of road viaducts with Movable Scaffolding System (MSS) using numerical tools based on finite element method (FEM). Traditional and new sequences are being used in Spain to build viaducts with MSS. The new sequence permits an easier construction of one span per week but implies some other issues related to the need of two prestressing stages per span. In order to improve the efficiency of the new sequence by reducing the number of prestressing stages per span, two solutions are suggested in this study. Results show that the best solution is to introduce the 100% of the prestressing force at the self-supporting core in order to improve the road viaduct construction with movable scaffolding system by reducing execution time without increasing economic costs.

  • The low price around 1000 USD makes consumer 3D printers as a new additive manufacturing platform for the personal manufacturing where consumers can make and sell their own products. To allow the consumers to design and manufacture their products, not only economic 3D printers but also supporting information systems for their design and manufacturing are essential. This study suggests an extended product data management (PDM) system that can support both the design and manufacturing of personal products with consumer 3D printing services. This extended PDM system helps consumer designers use advanced PDM technologies for their design and connected 3D printing services with Internet of Things (IoT) technology for realization of their products. As a result, the proposed system supports the consumer designers a seamless integrated product development and manufacturing environment supported by PDM and consumer 3D printing services.
