  • The Landscape Act was enacted in 2007 introducing a new procedure of the Local Landscape Agreement and the Local Landscape Improvement Projects. The act has granted local governments a legal basis to support residents participation activities in order to create, improve, and maintain the townscape quality of their neighborhood environments. The degree of utilization of this particular process, however, is far below the expectation. Partly, it is due to the lack of field experience and concrete guidelines for preparation and implementation in actual landscape planning process. This study aims to seek for detailed solution to lead the residents participation for local landscape improvement in Korea through consideration for institutional strategies and cases about the local landscape planning and management in Japan. Local landscape improvement projects in Japan are progressing successfully in concurrence with a variety of local participants such as residents participation, administrative supporting and supporting of local company. And it will be possible to support systematically with systematization of participants, such as NPO and a council.

  • Early detection of anomalies is an important issue in the management of group-housed livestock. In particular, failure to detect oestrus in a timely and accurate way can become a limiting factor in achieving efficient reproductive performance. Although a rich variety of methods has been introduced for the detection of oestrus, a more accurate and practical method is still required. In this paper, we propose an efficient data mining solution for the detection of oestrus, using the sound data of Korean native cows (Bos taurus coreanea). In this method, we extracted the mel frequency cepstrum coefficients from sound data with a feature dimension reduction, and use the support vector data description as an early anomaly detector. Our experimental results show that this method can be used to detect oestrus both economically (even a cheap microphone) and accurately (over 94% accuracy), either as a standalone solution or to complement known methods.

  • In this paper, we offer a new technique to discover frequent spatiotemporal patterns from a moving object database. Though the search space for spatiotemporal knowledge is extremely challenging, imposing spatial and timing constraints on moving sequences makes the computation feasible. The proposed technique includes two algorithms, AllMOP and MaxMOP, to find all frequent patterns and maximal patterns, respectively. In addition, to support the service provider in sending information to a user in a push-driven manner, we propose a rule-based location prediction technique to predict the future location of the user. The idea is to employ the algorithm AllMOP to discover the frequent movement patterns in the user's historical movements, from which frequent movement rules are generated. These rules are then used to estimate the future location of the user. The performance is assessed with respect to precision and recall. The proposed techniques could be quite efficiently applied in a location-based service (LBS) system in which diverse types of data are integrated to support a variety of LBSs.

  • This paper is aimed at proposing a new inference mechanism for B-to-B electronic commerce decision-makings, named IMITAO(Integer Matrix-driven Inference based on Transformed And-Or graph) which is based on integer matrix operation to speed up the inference. During the B-to-B electronic commerce, many kinds of negotiations are needed for mutually satisfactory decision-makings. During such negotiations, several factors including subjective and objective constraints should be considered so as to reach satisfactory decisions. In this respect, we suggest first a Transformed AND-OR Graph(TAOG) which each firm's conditions or judgement are incorporated into, and then we propose a high-speedy inference mechanism named IMITAO which basically depends on TAOG. Firms engaged in B-to-B negotiations on the Internet can get an appropriate decision support from using IMITAO for their negotiation simulations. The proposed IMITAO inference mechanism is characterized by its fast inference because its main inference procedures are based on integer matrix operation. A real-world example for B-to-B negotiations was used to prove the validity of our proposed TAOG and IMITAO approach. Experimental results showed that our approach was very useful in performing the B-to-B electronic commerce decision-makings considering a wide variety of either subjective or objective constraints.

  • In this paper, e-Meters middleware and applications using standardized middleware in the EPCglobal is suggested. An standardized middleware of the EPCglobal is designed to manage as a form of SCM and other logistics. In order to support a variety of services using RFID-based, the system must be able to support each protocol. The main features of e-Meters middleware is consist of information status and delivery, distributed database processing, event data analysis, and handling. To operate real time e-Meters system information, The realized middleware is configured to process the results of data collection.

  • Science and technology parks have been popular among policy-makers at several spatial levels to promote innovation and economic growth of certain localities. However, this mainly property-led policy tool has been criticised for two reasons. First, it often failed to successfully support regional networking and technology transfer to regional firms. Only unplanned science and technology parks, such as Silicon Valley, seem to have been successfully fostering regional networking and technology transfer which has led, in turn, to the development of competitive innovative clusters. Secondly, it has too often bet on the same horses and become too specialised in the same fields, such as in micro-electronics or in biotechnology. This specialisation has been theoretically supported by the cluster concept. It has led to both a zero sum game of competition between locations as well as potentially negative path dependence and lock-ins. This paper suggests increasingly supporting diversification in science and technology parks by bringing together hitherto unconnected technologies. Several recently discussed concepts could be used to support diversification, such as related variety (Frenken et al. 2007), regional branching (Boschma and Frenken 2011), regional innovation platforms (Harmaakorpi et al. 2011) and transversality (Cooke 2011).

  • The participants of steel works should exchange a variety of information with others through documents. However construction steel works in the multistage contract system has a difficulty in exchanging information through the documents promptly. So if the trouble as change orders arise, conducting steel works will take much time, and the participants may not discuss the trouble sufficiently. Consequently this study improved the current business process of steel works. And this developed business support system(XCOS) based on XML so that participants of steel works achieve a successful management of steel works through conducting business rapidly and correctly.

  • The interest for IPv6, which is next generation IP, increases, while the difficulty for adopting it into IT industries also increases too. We also expect that Internet technologies develop on basis of All-IP networks, which include various heterogeneous networks. Therefore, it is necessary for network to support mobility and multicast capability to create applications with wide-variety. In this paper, we propose a new mobile multicasting protocol called Mobile IPv6 Multicast Protocol(MIMP). The proposed scheme satisfies no packet losses from roaming and optimal routing efficiency.

  • The next generation of wireless network will be problably developed as a mobile communications which will support ATM-based multiMedium traffic. We need to develop an dffective MAC protocol in order to support multimedia traffic having variety of QoS characteristics on wireless neteworks. In this paper, we propose a MAC protocol a MAC protocol where mobile terminals having cells to transmit, request slots to base station through requested slot then the base station analyze parameters from mobile and allocate slots to mobile according to priority. The multimedia slot allocation(MSA) protocol divides multimedias applications into real-time/ variant and non real-time services. Entire slots of the frameare partitioned proportionallyby sizeof bandwidth according to types of services, so that related services can use allocated-slots in priority. The proposed algorithm guarantees real time operation since real-time service share slots allocated for non real-real services. The algorithm whih divides slots of the frame is called as an Algorithm A, otherwise as an Algorithm B. The simulation compares by average delay time and cell loss probability between Algorithm and Algorithm B by increasing number of mobile terminal using the proposed MAC protocol. the simulation result for real-time services shows that average delay time and cell loss probability of Algorithm A is better than those of Algorithm B.
