Fabrication of NdBaCuO Superconducting Thin Film (NdBaCuO 초전도박막 합성)

  • NdBaCuO thin films were prepared on $SrTiO_{3}$ substrates by RF magnetron sputtering. These as-grown films were classified into 3type. The resistivity of the deposited films are usually lower than of the YBCO film. The Tc (onset) and Tc (R=0) in the optimized thin films are as high as 90 and 80K, respectively. These as-grown films are highly uniform and semi-trans parent and have a room temperature resistivity of $0.3m{\Omega}cm$.

  • Since the discovery of High-Tc superconducting Y-Ba-Cu-O ceramics with critical temperature of about 90K, numerous efforts to prepare supercond ucting thin films with excellent qualities such as High-Tc and critical current density have been made. The samples were deposited onto $SiO_x$ substrates heated at 540$^{\circ}C$ - 600$^{\circ}C$ in a single target rf - magnetron sputtering system. The film thickness has 2000$\AA$ - 5000 $\AA$ with a rate of 16 $\AA$/min. and distance between target and substrate was 50 mm. The films were characterized by X - ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and critical temperature.

  • The goal of the research is to study and describe a new stressed state of High Temperature Superconducting (High-T$_{c}$) YBCO Films, to create of SQUIDs (Superconducting Quantum Interference Device) on the bases of these films with maximal sensitivity. With the experimental investigation of the stressed films grown by laser ablation method and its properties, the fabrication of the dc-SQUIDs with maximal sensitivity on the bases of the stressed YBCO films were carried out. The stressed film having the value of the critical current density J$_{c}$=3ㆍ$10^{5}$A/$\textrm{cm}^2$ was the more stable than others.ers.s.

  • BSCCO thin films have been fabricated by co-deposition at an ultralow growth rate using ion beam sputtering(IBS) method. The growth rates of the films was set in the region from 0.17 to 0.27 nm/min. MgO(100) was used as a substrate. In order to appreciate stable existing region of Bi 2212 phase with temperature and ozone pressure, the substrate temperature was varied between 655 and $820^{\circ}C$ and the highly condensed ozone gas pressure($PO_3$) in vacuum chamber was varied between $2.0{\times}10^{-6}$ and $2.3{\times}10^{-5}$ Torr. Bi 2212 phase appeared in the temperature range of 750 and $795^{\circ}C$ and single phase of Bi 2201 existed in the lower region than $785^{\circ}C$. Whereas, $PO_3$ dependance on structural formation was scarcely observed regardless of the pressure variation. And high quality of c-axis oriented Bi 2212 thin film with $T_c$(onset) of about 90 K and $T_c$(zero) of about 45 K is obtained. Only a small amount of CuO in some films was observed as impurity, and no impurity phase such as $CaCuO_2$ was observed in all of the obtained films.

  • [$YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$] thin films were deposited on various buffered-templates by a metal organic chemical vapor deposition(MOCVD). Three different templates of $CeO_2/YSZ/CeO_2/pure-Ni(CYC),\;CeO_2/YSZ/Y_2O_3/Ni-3at.%W(YYC)$ and $CeO_2/IBAD-YSZ$/stainless steel were used. The Ni and Ni-W alloy tapes were biaxially textured by cold rolling and annealing heat treatment. The dense YBCO films were grown on both the IBAD and YYC templates with no microcrack, while the YBCO films on the CYC templates were grown with the formation of microcracks and NiO. The YBCO film on the YYC template showed the higher $I_c$ than that on CYC template. Especially, the IBAD templates with a thin $CeO_2$(type I) and thick $CeO_2$(type II) top layer were used to compare the deposition nature of the YBCO on them. Comparing the current property of the YBCO films on IBAD templates, the YBCO film deposited on thick $CeO_2$ layer was better than the film on thin $CeO_2$ layer.

Effects of Light-ion Irradiation on Superconducting $MgB_2$ thin Films ($MgB_2$ 초전도 박막의 경이온 조사에 의한 효과)

  • We investigated the effects of the irradiation of light-ions on the superconducting $MgB_2$ thin films fabricated by using HPCVD. Deuterium and helium ions were irradiated on $MgB_2$ thin films by various doses, from $1{\times}10^{10}cm^{-2}\;to\;8{\times}10^{15}cm^{-2}$. During these experiments some reasonable results and unpredictable results have been obtained. The reasonable results are that the peak of the reduced maximum pinning force shifts by increasing the pinning sites in $MgB_2$ films and the slightly change of critical current density of films. We obtained some unusual results, which are the increasing of the transition temperature and the change of residual resistance ratio. Among the data of deuterium and helium ion irradiation experiments, the results of helium ion irradiation have most notable points so we will discuss mainly about helium irradiation experiments.

  • High quality $Y_{1}$Ba$_{2}$Cu$_{3}$$O_{7-x}$ thin films have been fabricated by pulsed Nd:YAG laser deposition using an unusual 'off-axis' target-substrate geometry. Various properties of superconducting $Y_{1}$Ba$_{2}$Cu$_{3}$$O_{7-x}$ thin films have been studied systematically as a function of oxygen pressure during the deposition, in both 'on-axis' and the unusual 'off-axis' target substrate geometries. In the 'off-axis' geometry, one can completely eliminate the so-called 'laser droplets' from the film surface and thus obtain smooth high quality films. It is found that films with optimum structural and electrical properties are obtained at a lower oxygen pressure range during the 'off-axis' deposition when compared with that required in the 'on-axis' deposition geometry.
