  • High Tc superconducting with a BiSrCaCuO was prepared by the citrate method. The solid precursor produced by the dehydration of the gel at $120^{\circ}C$ for 12h is not in the a morphous state as expected but in a crystalline state. X -ray diffraction peaks of nearly the same angular position as the peaks of high Tc phase were observed in the precursor.

  • The goal of the project is to study and describe a new stressed state of High Temperature Superconducting (High-Tc) YBCO Films, to create of SQUIDs on the bases of these Films with maximal sensitivity. The problems of the project are: 1. The experimental studying of the stressed films growing by laser ablation method. 2. The studying of stressed film properties. 3. The making of the dc-SQUIDs with maximal sensitivity on the bases of the stressed YBCO films.

3상 일괄형 Pipe Type HTS 케이블의 정상 및 과도상태 해석 (Steady and Transient State Analysis on Three Phase-in One Enclosure Type HTS Cable)

  • This paper suggests an improved technique to establish the modeling regarding steady and transient state on three phase-in one cryostat type HTS(High Temperature Superconducting) cable. The proposed modeling is established using EMTP/ATPDraw and TACS and MODELS provided by that. It has higher accuracy than the conventional method, as the actual HTS cable is modelled. Steady and transient state analysis performed by EMTP/ATPDraw calculate the current of conductor, shield and former, respectively. In case of the transient state modeled quench state occurred by a single line-to-ground fault, current of conductor shield and former are also calculated, respectively. Especially, various fault resistances and angles are considered to improve the reliability during transient state analysis. Analysis results reveal that the proposed technique improves the accuracy of modeling.

  • A high temperature superconducting power cable (HTS power cable) was applied large current capacity by no resistance in normal state. Fault state was risen out of over-current but, it was limited to resistance. this study was modeling equivalence, and unbalanced state analyzed operating charateristics of HTS power cable. The equivalence model was composed superconductor, shield, and former part. This model simulation was appeared conductor and shield current in normal state, but fault state was appeared former current as rise current by resistance. so it need to sufficiently influenced the quench characteristic when the former design.

  • This paper presents the shape optimization algorithm of magnetic systems with, state variable constraints using the Finite Element Method. In the design' of electromagnetic systems, sometimes we have to consider the state variables when they seriously affect the performance of electromagnetic systems. So we should define that some design problems have the constraints of the state variables. We use the gradient of constraints and sensitivity analysis in order to consider the state variable constraints and obtain an optimal shape. The optimal shape must be satisfied constraints, so we take the gradient projection method as a kind of optimization methods. In this paper a numerical example with state variable constraints uses the superconducting electromagnet that has another constraint which the volume of the superconductor should be constant.

  • In these days, the interruption capability of some circuit breakers, which are installed in the transmission systems, is getting lower than the magnitude of the fault current because of continuous increase of power demand and relatively short power line which was installed in forms of mesh network As a result of these situations, fault current limiters (FCLs) are strongly necessary. There are various types which is investigated around the world, and new power apparatuses that have been newly considered and developed by many manufactures. In this paper, we considered resistive superconducting fault current limiters with YBCO thin films. The resistive limiters utilize a transition of YBCO films from superconducting to normal state caused by exceeding the critical current. By means of newly occurred impedance, the fault current will be limited effectively. Generally, a few current path patterns are available for YBCO films to enhance the current limiting performance of YBCO films. In this paper. the meander-type and the bi-spiral-type were used for current paths of YBCO flims. When YBCO films are quenched into the normal state, bubbles could be observed on the surface of YBCO films. Using our high-speed camera, the number of bubbles and the size of bubbles could be visualized and the relation between bubbles and current density was analyzed. By means of moving pictures of bubbles, we observed how the quench extended or how the heat was conducted in films.

Bi2Sr2Ca2.2CuO3Ox계에서 초전도상과 Bi-free상의 핵생성과 성장 (Nucleation and Growth of Bi-free and Superconducting Phases in Bi2Sr2Ca2.2CuO3Ox)

  • Using Bi$_2$Sr$_2$Ca$_2$.$_2$Cu$_3$ $O_{x}$ powders prepared by solid state reaction and spray drying method, the nucleation and growth behaviors of superconducting and second phases were investigated during isothermal heat treatment. When the spray drying power was used in contrast with solid state reaction powder, Bi$_2$Sr$_2$Ca$_2$.$_2$Cu$_3$ $O_{x}$ (2223) phase could be formed at the relatively shot time and second phases were much bigger. Quantitative analysis showed that as the heat treatment time increased, more Bi$_2$Sr$_2$Ca$_2$.$_2$Cu$_3$ $O_{x}$ (2212) changed to 2223 and the major second phase was changed from (Sr,Ca)$_{14}$Cu$_{24}$ $O_{x}$(14:24) to (Sr,Ca)$_2$Cu$_1$ $O_{x}$ (2:l). The superconducting phase formed at the relatively short time 14:24 phase. Following the Bi-free phase of 14:24 Phase, but long time was needed in places far from the 14:24 phase. Following the formation of the 2212 phase near the 14:24 phase, the 2223 phase nucleated preferentially at the interface between the 2212 and 14:24 phases. The preferential nuclcation of 2223 was explained by its structural similarity and low Interfacial energy with both the Bi-free and 2212 Phases.12 Phases.

  • By computer simulation, the pattern of magnetic field distribution on the Nb-foil of a rotating flux type superconducting power supply has been calculated. Using the results, the current pumping rate has been calculated and compared with the results obtained by the experiment. The experiment has been executed with small-size flux-rump in the environment of LN2 and LHe in order to compare the pattern of magnetic filed in the superconducting state and in the normal state. Five hall-sensor was located on the center, right side, left-side, upper side, lower side of the Nb-foil in order to obtain more accurate pattern of the magnetic field generated by rotating pole. In the simulation, the effects of the excitation-magnet and the iron core located at the inner-side and circumference of the magnet have been considered. By comparing the data from the experiment and the results from the simulation, the size of normal spot estimated. At the same time, by calculating the linkage flux, the current-pumping-rate has been obtained. Consequently, the results obtained from experiment and simulation coincided as expected.
