목포항의 수질특성 - 하계의 부영양화를 중심으로 - (The Characteristics of Water Quality in Mokpo Harbour(II) - Centering on eutrophication summer -)

  • the observations in situ and the seawater analyses were conducted in July and August, 1996 for the purpose of evaluating the characteristics of seawater quality centered on eutrophication in Mokpo harbour. By applying the OECD standards of trophic classification to the parameters such as secchi depth, total inorganic nitrogen, phosphate phosphorus and chlorophyll-a, the trophic level of seawater in Mokpo harbour was evaluated to be in eutrophic state in summer. By the estimation of pollution index with relation to eutrophication, the seawater quality of Mokpo harbour was evaluated to be under the regular grades and this evaluation was found to be different from the results of evaluation obtained by the environmental index of single parameter, chemical oxygen demand. By the estimation of eutrophication index, the seawaters of Mokpo harbour were shown to have the high potentiality of red tide occurrence.

  • The in situ observations and the seawater analyses were conducted in July and Auguse, 1996 for the purpose of evaluating the characteristics of seawater quality centered about eutrophication in Mokpo harbour. By applying the OECD standards of trophic classification to the parameters such as secchi depth, total inorganic nitrogen, phosphate phosphorus and chlorophyll-a, the trophic level of seawater in Mokpo harbour was evaluated to be in eutrophic state in summer. The estimation of pollution index by eutrophication showed the seawater quality of Mokpo harbour to deteriorate and fall under the regular grades. The results of eutrophic index estimation showed the high otentiality of red tide occurrence in Mokpo harbour.

  • Benthic macroinvertebrates were collected two times from 116 sites at the $1^{st}{\sim}4^{th}$ order streams in forest areas in Gyungsang province in late spring and late summer. The sample sites belonged to slightly and moderately polluted states. When communities were classified by the Self-Organizing Map (SOM), the gradient was observed according to degree of pollution. Within clusters of slightly polluted sites, however, seasonality was further observed. Scrapers, gatherer-collectors, and filterer-collectors were abundantly observed in late spring while shredders appeared more in late summer. The number of predator species increased in late summer. Behavior types were mostly clingers in two seasons. Community compositions at the moderately polluted sites were not much differentiated in different seasons. Gatherer-collectors and burrowers were dominantly collected in both seasons.

강의실 빛 환경에 대한 재실자의 주관적 평가 (The Subjective Evaluation on the Light Environment of Residents at Classrooms)

  • The purpose of this study is to improve the quality of the light environment of classroom. To attain this purpose, this study estimated the physical factor and evaluation of the subjective response of classroon located in south and north in the summer and the winter. The results are as followed. 1. The evaluation of the illumination, uniformity factor, daylight factor as physical factor of light environment is good as classroom, but the classroom in south is better that that in north, the light environment in summer is better than winter. 2. The subjective response to light environment of classroom is positive on both seasons at all calssroom. Comparing summer with winter, I found that the difference of subjective response between both classrooms on summer is attentive. 3. The realtion between subjective response and physical factor of light environment in classroom is attentive on the light sense, content sense, uniformity.

하계 금강하구 주변해역의 수질특성과 수질변동 요인분석 (Characteristics of Water Quality and factor Analysis on the Variations of Water Quality in Coastal Sea around the Keum River Estuary in Summer)

  • 1998년 하계(6~9월)에 금강하구 주변 해역 11개 정점을 조사하여 공간적인 수질변통 특성을 파악하고, 통계분석 기법의 하나인 요인분석을 동하여 하계 금강하구 주변해역에서의 수질변동 지배요인을 분석하였다. 조사기간 동안 금강하구 주변해역의 화학적산소요구량의 평균농도는 1.36mg/L, 용존무기질소의 평균농도는 28.60㎍-at/L, 용존무기인의 평균농도는 0.48㎍-at/L로 나타났으며, 주성분분석 결과 전체 수질변동의 약 43%를 차지하는 제 1주성분 요인이 담수 유입과 밀접한 관련이 있는 영양염류와 염분의 변화로 나타나, 담수변통 요인이 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다.

하천 수질의 계절적 변화에 미치는 유량과 토지이용의 영향 (The Effects of Flow and Land Use Types on Seasonal Variations of Water Quality in Streams)

  • We examined the effects of land cover types on water quality based on data surveyed during April 2007-February 2008 from 178 sites of 111 streams in Paldang watershed. BOD, COD, DO, SS, T-N, and T-P concentrations of spring and summer were strongly and significantly associated with the first principal component of the proportions of eight land cover types, and differences between all parameter's concentration except SS and T-N of spring and summer were insignificantly related with them. SS and T-N concentration of summer were significantly correlated with increase and decrease of stream flow. T-P concentration of spring was the most significantly related with the second principal component which was positively correlated with the proportions of residential and forest land covers and was negatively correlated with the proportions of paddy and grass land covers. It is necessary to manage land use of the upper watershed and stream flow for improvement in water quality because seasonal variations of each water quality parameter are dependent upon land cover and flow variations.

  • Physico-chemical measurement of non-refractory submicron particles($NR-PM_1$) was conducted in Baengnyeong Island, Korea using Aerodyne High Resolution Time of Flight Aerosol Mass Spectrometer (HR-ToF-AMS) from 2012 to 2014. Organics and ammoniated sulfate were dominant species in $NR-PM_1$. The organics was found to have similar fractions(approximate 40%) of $NR-PM_1$ during the summer and winter, while the sulfate fractions of $NR-PM_1$ were calculated to be approximately 47% and 31% for the summer and winter, respectively, suggesting the possibility that particles provide non-acidic surfaces for condensation of nitric acid in the winter. The nitrate fractions of approximate 4% and 20% of $NR-PM_1$ were observed in August (summer) and November (winter), respectively, resulting that the relatively low concentration of sulfate in $NR-PM_1$ provided a non-acidic surface for nitric acid condensation and formation of particulate ammoniated nitrate is favored thermodynamically in winter. The new particle formation (NPF) event and particle growth rate were analyzed for each month in 2014 using Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer(SMPS). The Percent of NPF events was the highest in winter, but NPF event was not observed during summer due to relatively high temperature and frequent rainfall. The average particle growth rate was 3.5 nm/h and the highest particle growth rate was 5.5 nm/h in May. We observed the long-range transport of the anthropogenic sulfate from the East Asia during the intensive monitoring period of November between Qingdao and Baengnyeong Island in 2013. The relatively high concentrations of m/z 60 measured in HR-ToF-AMS was observed in May and June at Baengnyeong Island, suggesting the possibility of the influence of biomass burning from the East Asia to the Korean Peninsula.

제과공장의 폐수처리장에서 발생하는 악취 저감 (Reduction of the Offensive Odor from Confectionery Wastewater Plant)

  • It has been studied that the measurement of odor component emission at confectionery manufacture. The objects of this study were to investigate reduction of offensive odor. The survey effects of odorous materials are presented as follows. The countermeasure of operating process is to minimize sludge sediment in each unit facility. Especially, in summer, we have to clean the sludge frequently, because anaerobic decomposing is likely to occur easily. The sludge or scum from sedimentation tank pond, and floating tank should be treated quickly. We should avoid overloading operation. In the case of overloading, dissolved oxygen should be increased, the quality of wastewater input should be decreased. When dried cakes from condense tank or floating tank are left in treatment plant, we should cover, to prevent diffusion of smell with masking materials. The seasonal condition of operating should be fixed and the kind of coagulants should be changed because the wastewater in each season have different loading rates and organic materials. Odorous materials are very sensitive to the seasonal temperature variation. Especially, when the amount of rainfall is small and the high temperature of maintenance in long periods, air diffusion rate is large, so odorous materials can make great effect on surroundings comparision with other periods. To reduce odorous gas, as short term method, we had better take ceramic addition method. Especially, in summer we should take ceramic addition method. Also, as long term method, the size of wastewater treatment facility is the most important in the normal operating of wastewater treatment facility. But wastewater treatment facilities in this factory are too old, treatment process is old fashion, and the size is too small. So, large wastewater quantity to treat in summer. As results, the expansion of wastewater treatment facility and the process of improvement are required. Restriction level of odor was exceed. As it is overloaded in summer, the basis cause of odor is that the size of wastewater treatment facility is small. The prediction of air quality equilibrium density variation show that the odorous materials from working place are Amine materials whose smell strength is about 2.5(a little strong degree). We can suppose that in summer is sensitive to temperature variation, smell strength is larger as to reduce the origin of odor. We must expand wastewater treatment facility and improve the process A.S.A.P.

하절기 낙동강 창녕함안보 구간에서의 수질특성 및 영향인자의 상관관계 분석 (Analysis of the water quality and correlation of impact factors during summer season in changnyeong-haman weir section)

  • This study analyzed the correlation between Chl-a and water quality factors using characteristics of climate data, water quality factors, and various statistical analysis techniques during the summer season in the Nakdong River during the 2-year period. The purpose of this study is to provide the basic data for establishing water quality management policy in the Changnyeong-Haman weir section. From the end of July to the middle of August when algae mainly occur, both the years 2015 and 2016 are in the temperature range of $25{\sim}30^{\circ}C$, and the total precipitation of 2015 is less than that of 2016 in this period. As a result of comparing the concentration of Chl-a, the average Chl-a concentration of 2015 was higher than that of 2016, which seems to be related to the total precipitation in the occurrence of algae. The results of the correlation analysis showed that the correlation with PO4-P was significant at most points. As a result of the factor analysis, the first principal factor group classified PO4-P, NH3-N, TP, pH, flow rate, TN and this section seems to be influenced by phosphorus and nitrogen and flow rate.

The Effect of Rainfall on the Water Quality of a Small Reservoir (Lake Wangkung, Korea)

  • The dynamics of water quality with the storm events were analyzed in a small reservoir for irrigation, Lake Wangkung. Water quality of the inflowing stream fluctuated seasonally with the variation of flow rate. Thermal stratification was consistent from April to October below 2 m depths and anoxic layer was developed below 2 m depth in summer. The unique feature of temperature showed that thermal stratification was disrupted by a heavy rain event during monsoon, but hypolimnetic hypoxia were reestablished after a few days. Phosphorus and nitrogen increased immediately following storm events. The marked increase may be due to the input of P-rich storm runoff from the watershed. Internal phosphorus loading can be one of the explanations for TP increases in summer. When there was a storm, total populations of phytoplankton and zooplankton was reduced immediately following the storm, indicating possible flushing of algae and zooplankton. After a lag period of low-density the plankton population bloomed to a peak again within five days after the storm. Turbid water in lake became clear again which coincided with the time of the phytoplankton buildup. The results demonstrate that water quality is regulated greatly by rainfall intensity in Lake Wangkung.
