전간(癲癎)에 대(對)한 문헌적(文獻的) 고찰(考察) (고전(古典)을 중심(中心)으로)

  • Through the classical records of the oriental medicine my investigation of the authorities of the epilepsy by classifying the etiology, symptoms and the treatments of it and camparing them has led to the following conclusion. 1) The etiology of 'epilepsy' can be classified into wind(風), sputum(痰), fever(熱) convulsion and caul. 2) The symptoms of it fall into the following nine ones; Sudden strong contraction making Sounds within the mouth, unoonsciousness, mutual jerks of the facial muscules foaming form the mouth, trismus contractive of extremities general body rigidity recovering after the fit and no rest. 3) The symptoms of Epilepsy are classified into 'Um type epilepsy'(癲) and the 'yang type epilepsy'(癎), and then the former has nine kinds in sympatomatic state and latter seventeen. 4) The treatment of the case can be made by using of cold drugs mainly for the purpose of mind purification(淸心), fever abatement(降火), Sputum-elimination(化痰) and normalization of metabolism(順氣) and Sometimes the function of the liver should be normalized by giving liver function normalizing medicine after Emetics. In comparison with the western way of using Anti convelsents therapy and electricshock therapy, the way of its treatment based on the classification of the causes is considered to be far more desirable.

  • The objective of this paper is to know the characteristics of pressure through a simplified typical carburetor used in small engines at the different throttle opening conditions. The carburetor is the device responsible for creating the right air-fuel mixture according to the different engine operating conditions. It is activated by the static or the dynamic pressure. The carburetor dummy is geometrically similar of LPG brush-cutter engine's diaphragm carburetor and is made of acrylic. Suction system gives body to crankcase vacuum using the vacuum pump and throttle opening conditions are controled by transfer device. Carburetor venturi throat and fuel charging tube diameter is each 20mm, 4.1mm. The result of the work presents an unprecedented phenomenon of suction pressure variation inside the carburetor venturi. It is predicted that these unprecedented pressure variation be caused by minor losses; sudden contraction or expansion, open or partially closed and so on.

  • Velocity-dependent increase in tonic stretch reflexes is one of the prominent characteristics of spasticity. It is very important to evaluate spasticity objectively and quantitatively before and after treatment for physicians. An accurate quantitative biomechanical evaluation for the spasticity which is caused by the disorder of central nervous system is made in this study. A sudden leg dropper which is designed to generate objective testing environment at every trial gives very effective environment for the test. Kinematic data are archived by the 3-dimensional motion analysis system($Elite^{(R)}$, B.T.S., Italy). Kinematic data are angle and angular velocity of lower limb joints, and length and lengthening velocity of lower limb muscle. A program is also developed to analyze the kinematic data of lower limb, contraction and relaxation length of muscles, and dynamic EMG data at the same tim. To evaluate spasticity quantitatively, total 31 parameters extracted from goniogram, EMG and muscle model are analyzed. Statistical analysis are made for bilateral correlations for all parameters. The described instrumentation and parameters to make quantitative and objective evaluation of spasticity shows good results.

디스크 브레이크의 구조 및 열 해석 (Structural and Thermal Analysis of Disk Brake)

  • Continuous contraction and expansion of disk brake can be due to friction and temperature difference at repeated sudden braking. As serious vibration at disk is produced, the braking force will be changed ununiformly and braking system can not be stabilized. Temperature and heat flux at disk brake are investigated by structural and thermal analysis in this study. The maximum equivalent stress and displacement are shown respectively at the ventilated hole and the lower part of disk plate. At thermal analysis of initial state, temperature on disk plate is distributed from $95.9^{\circ}C$ to $100^{\circ}C$. The maximum heat flux of $0.0168W/mm^2$ is shown at the inner friction part between disk plate and pad. At thermal analysis of transient state, temperature on disk plate is distributed from $95^{\circ}C$ to $96.5^{\circ}C$ after 100 second. The maximum heat flux of $0.0024W/mm^2$ is also shown at the inner friction part between disk plate and pad. By comparing with initial state, the temperature on disk plate is more uniformly distributed and heat flux is more decreased by 7 times at transient state.

  • 좌골 조면 견열 골절은 초기 청소년기에 슬괵건의 급격한 견인력에 의해 발생하는 급성 손상인 반면, 좌골 조면의 견인 골단염은 과도한 활동과 반복된 미세 외상에 의해 서서히 발생하며 진단시 간과하기 쉽다. 저자들은 태권도 선수로 활동 중인 16세 남자에서 특징적인 방사선 소견을 보이는 간과된 좌골 조면 견열 골절과 반대쪽의 견인 골단염이 동시에 나타난 드문 증례를 경험하여 문헌 고찰과 함께 보고하고자 한다.

Evolution of the Magnetosphere in Response to a Sudden Ring Current Injection

  • The dynamical evolution of the Earth's magnetosphere loaded with a transiently enhanced ring current is studied by numerical magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulation. Two cases with different values of the primitive ring current are considered. In one case, the initial ring current is strong enough to create a magnetic island in the magnetosphere. The magnetic island readily reconnects with the earth-connected ambient field and is destroyed as the system approaches a steady equilibrium. In the other case, the initial ring current is not so strong, and the initial magnetic field configuration bears no magnetic island, but a wake of bent field lines, which is smoothed out through the relaxing evolution of the magnetosphere. The relaxation time of the magnetosphere is found to be about five to six minutes, over which the ring current is reduced to about a quarter of its initial value. Before reaching a steady state, the magnetosphere is found to undergo an overshooting expansion and a subsequent contraction. Fast and slow magnetosonic waves are identified to play an important role in the relaxation toward equilibrium.

  • Cardiogenic syncope occurs due to arrhythmia (bradycardia and tachycardia) or decreased cardiac output, and if proper treatment is not provided, it can lead to acute sudden death. A detailed medical history and physical examinations are required to determine the cause of syncope, and clinical approaches, including 12-lead ECG, are important. The 12-lead ECG does not have a chest lead in the posterior wall of the left ventricle; therefore, ECG of the isolated posterior wall myocardial infarction caused by left circumflex artery occlusion is not observed with ST elevation. Therefore, the significantly higher appearance of ST depression and R waves than S waves from V1 to V3 of the chest lead must be interpreted meaningfully. Isolated posterior wall myocardial infarction is small in the area of myocardial necrosis, and tension is increased in the necrotic area due to the contraction of the normal myocardial muscle, which can cause ventricular wall rupture. Therefore, it is necessary to additionally check Beck's triad, such as jugular venous distension and decreased heart sound, in patients with low blood pressure with an isolated posterior wall myocardial infarction on 12-lead ECG in patients with syncope.

Genetic Diversity and Characterization of DPE1 Gene in Rice Germplasm

  • Disproportionating Enzyme 1 (DPE1) is an a-1,4-D-glucanotransferase that cleavages the a-1,4-glucosidic bonds and transfers glucosyl groups. In rice endosperm, it participates in starch synthesis by transferring maltooligosyl groups from amylose and amylopectin to amylopectin. Here, we investigated the haplotype variations and evolutionary indices (e.g., genetic diversity and population structure) for the DPE1 gene in 374 rice accessions representing seven subgroups (wild, indica, temperate japonica, tropical japonica, aus, aromatic, and admixture). Variant calling analysis of DPE1 coding regions leads to the identification of six functional haplotypes representing/occupying 8 nonsynonymous SNPs. Nucleotide diversity analysis revealed the highest pi-value in wild group (0.0556) compared to other cultivated groups, of which temperate japonica showed the most reduction of genetic diversity value (0.003). A significant positive Tajima's D value (1.6330) of admixture highlights sudden population contraction under balancing selection, while temperate japonica with the lowest Tajima's D value (-1.3523) showed a selection signature of DPE1 domestication which might be the cause of excess of rare alleles. Moreover, these two subpopulations exhibits a greater differentiation (FST=0.0148), indicating a higher genetic diversity. Our findings on functional DPE1 haplotypes will be useful in future breeding programs, and the evolutionary indices can also be applicable in functional studies of the DPE1 gene.

Evolutionary Analyses of SSII-1 Gene Provides Insight into Its Domestication Signatures in Collected Rice Accessions

  • Starch synthase proteins (SSI, SSII and SSIII) in rice are mainly involved in amylopectin synthesis mediating its chain elongation, and the functional loss of SSII can increase amylose accumulation through decreasing of amylopectin chain proportions. For purposes of identifying functional haplotypes and evolutionary analyses of this gene, SSII-1, we investigated 374 rice accessions belonging to different subgroups of origins. We subsequently performed bioinformatic analyses on their variations through haplotyping, resequencing and structuring based on different classified populations. Haplotyping of cultivated rice accessions using genetic variations within SSII-1 genomic region of chromosome 10 revealed a total of 8 haplotypes, representing 6 functional haplotypes by 4 non-synonymous SNPs of three different exons (1, 4 and 10), which effect on protein structure. Higher nucleotide diversity value was found in wild group (0.0055) compared to any of cultivated subpopulations, of which aus showed the most reduction of diversity value (0.0003). Tajima's D analysis exhibits the most Tajima's D value only in admixture group (0.3600) which appears to be the cause of a sudden population contraction by rare alleles scarcity. A clear separation of some wild accessions from the admixed cultivated subpopulations was observed in PCA and phylogenetic analysis. Similar admixed pattern of population structure was estimated with an increased K values of 2 to 8 where genetic components of almost all cultivated subpopulations were shared with the wild which can also be subsequently estimated by very low FST-values by -0.011 (wild-aromatic) and -0.003 (wild-admixture).

교통환기력이 작용하는 터널 내 벽면마찰계수 추정을 위한 프로그램 로직 개발 (Development of a programming logic to estimate the wall friction coefficient in vehicle tunnels with piston effects)

  • 일반적으로 터널 내 총환기저항계수는 입출구 손실계수, 벽면마찰계수 그리고 급격한 확대나 축소단면 등에 의해 발생하는 부차적 손실계수의 총합으로 구성된다. 개통 전 터널의 경우는 가동 중인 환기팬을 중단하게 되면, 터널 내 풍속은 총환기저항력에 의해 감소하는 현상이 나타난다. 즉, 속도감쇄법은 개통 전 터널에서 비교적 안정적이면서도 손쉽게 터널 내 벽면마찰계수를 추정하는 방법이다. 그러나 기존의 선행연구에서 환기팬의 가동을 중단 후 수렴되는 풍속이 음수일 경우는 속도감쇄법에 따른 벽면마찰계수의 추정이 곤란한 특성이 있다. 반면 교통환기력이 작용하는 공용 중인 터널에서는 좀더 복잡한 과정을 거치지만, 합리적인 벽면마찰계수를 추정할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 교통환기력의 측정변수를 최소화할 수 있는 방법을 제안하였고, 공용 중 터널에 적용할 수 있는 방법을 고찰하였다. 또한 환기팬 정지 후 터널 내 풍속이 감소하는 동안에 외부 자연풍의 급격한 변화가 발생하여도 교통환기력이 일정할 경우에 대하여, 교통환기력의 증분을 계산할 수 있는 방법과 터널 내 벽면마찰계수를 추정할 수 있도록 동적 시뮬레이션이 가능한 프로그램 로직을 개발하였다.
