Subway tunnel structure has been rapidly developed in many cities for its strong transport capacity. The model-based damage detection of subway tunnel structure is usually difficult due to the complex modeling of soil-structure interaction, the indetermination of boundary and so on. This paper proposes a new data-based method for the damage detection of subway tunnel structure. The root mean square acceleration and cross correlation function are used to derive a statistical pattern recognition algorithm for damage detection. A damage sensitive feature is proposed based on the root mean square deviations of the cross correlation functions. X-bar control charts are utilized to monitor the variation of the damage sensitive features before and after damage. The proposed algorithm is validated by the experiment of a full-scale two-rings subway tunnel lining, and damages are simulated by loosening the connection bolts of the rings. The results verify that root mean square deviation is sensitive to bolt loosening in the tunnel lining and X-bar control charts are feasible to be used in damage detection. The proposed data-based damage detection method is applicable to the online structural health monitoring system of subway tunnel lining.

Problems of noise and vibration induced by subway operation became one of the major factor when new subway 1 me is under consideration. One of the most economic method in reducing the noise and vibration is the increasement of the tunnel mass. . Vibration of the massive tunnel structure has been measured induced by subway operation. STEDEF system which was adopted by Seoul Metropolitan Subway Bureau has been proved that more than 99% of the vibration has been decreased at the bottom of the railway track. Most of the vibration measured inside and outside of the tunnel showed that their peak frequency is around SOHz or 100Hz. The propagation characteristics of vibration in massive tunnel , wave propagate in three directions. Overall frequency in the range of 0 to 125H2 horizontal transmission usually increase, while vertical transmission decreases about 50% in the range of 0 to 25Hz and 90Hz to 125Hz regardless of modal shape.
It is necessary to predict subway induced vibration if a new subway is to be built. To obtain the vibration response reliably, a three-dimensional (3D) FEM model, consisting of the tunnel, the soil, the subway load and the building above, is established in MIDAS GTS NX. For this study, it is a six-story frame structure built above line 3 of Guangzhou metro. The entire modeling process is described in detail, including the simplification of the carriage load and the determination of model parameters. Vibration measurements have been performed on the site of the building and the model is verified with the collected data. The predicted and measured vibration response are used together to assess vibration level due to the subway traffic in the building. The No.1 building can meet work and residence comfort requirement. This study demonstrates the applicability of the numerical train-tunnel-soil-structure model for the serviceability assessment of subway induced vibration and aims to provide practical references for engineering applications.

For the construction of twin single track subway tunnels by NATM within close proximity of existing vehicle underpass in the highly congested area of downtown Seoul, finite element analyses were performed to evaluate the ground responses during tunnelling and also the stability and safety of the underpass structure and subway tunnels. Results of the analyses indicated the need to improve the soil beneath the underpass, and pre-grouting was carried out prior to the tunnel excavation. During tunnel construction field measurement program was implemented to confirm the results of anslyses and to control the tunnel construction procedures, thus ensuring stability of the existing structres.
Tunnel in subway should be designed as a water-proof type tunnel as much as possible but it is difficult to make it come true due to several facts, such as construction technique and cost. A drainage type tunnel as a substitute of a water-proof tunnel lead to the increase of water pressure on the concrete lining that make bad effect to tunnel structure when it has some problem to operate the drainage system. Throughout studying about cases on defects of tunnel drainage in subway We hope it contributes to tunnel maintenance.

The site of interest is a residence redevelopment area which has excavation construction with cut-off walls. The site is located over Dong-Mang-Bong tunnel and Seoul No. 6 subway tunnel. This study analyzed numerically the influence of vibrations from No. 6 subway tunnel to the basement of the redeveloped apartment away from the distance about 11m. Kyoung-bu highspeed railway's time history model with linearly reduced maximum acceleration is applied to take into the subway maximum speed of 75km/h. The maximum velocity of vibration for the cross section of the interest was estimated as 0.28cm/sec which satisfied the allowable standard of 0.5cm/sec for apartment and residence of Seoul.
An anisotropic characteristics of stratified sedimentary rocks should be considered in the design of tunnel. The second line of Taegu subway is under construction through the sedimentary rocks which is stratified by alternation of shale and sandstone, and Tongsoe over bridge road is planned to be constructed along the subway line. Thus the subway twin tunnels will be subjected by the bridge load of 76.2 MN per pier that will be placed in between the twin tunnels of the subway line. A numerical analysis is carried out for the stability of the twin tunnel, and the result shows that the maximum principal stress of surrounding ground is increased by 5∼6 MPa and the additional displacement of concrete lining is reached up to 8∼10mm due to the external bridge load. For the safety operation of the subway, reinforcement of the tunnel structure is highly recommended.
We as a civil investment enterprise have been constructing In-cheon International Airport Railway which is a transportation means to approach In-cheon International Airport. In this alignment. a section between the Seoul station and Ka-joa follows the existing Yong-san line at the center of Seoul city and traverses Seoul subway 2,5,6 lines. So we planned that the alignment would have the shallowest depth to lie under Kyung-eui line and above the airport railroad. The alignment is planned to construct an open-box structure only 3.6m apart from the subway line 5 tunnel structure and construct the open-box structure 0.7m apart from the subway line 2 box structure. In the line planning, we investigated both the security of the existing subway structures during and after construction and the stability and workability between newly structured tunnel structures with three dimensions numerical analysis methods. Also we raised the reliability of design verification which was achieved by specialty society's review on the planned construction method.
The screen doors installed in the station of subway are subject to the train-wind pressure caused by the operation of trains. The train-wind pressure has to be correctly estimated for the design of safe structure of screen doors. As three-dimensional numerical flow analysis technology has been significantly developed, the analysis on the train-wind pressure with diverse variables such as train specifications, train speed, tunnel and station configurations, and blockage ratio can be effectively carried out with three-dimensional numerical method. In this study, computational analysis of train-induced wind in a subway tunnel employing the screen doors are carried out by using the three-dimensional numerical method with the model of the moving boundary for the run of trains. While the numerical analysis of train-wind pressure was applied on the one island-type station in the Seoul Subway Line 2, maximum pressure of 494 Pa was estimated on the screen door when two trains pass each other at the speed of 80km/h in the platform.

As the construction of trans infrastructure using the underground tunnel have been rapidly increased, various nearby excavation of existed underground facility including subway structure has been occurred in urban tunnelling. The concern and worry relating to the safety and stability of the existed facility by nearby excavation is becoming the key issues in urban tunnelling. In this study, it was conducted for existed the subway station structure at Seoul subway line which was closely located in the new Dongbuk urban metro railway to determine the behavior characteristics of station structure according to adjacent tunnel construction. Also, it was reviewed the evaluation of the safety zone and excavation method for subway structure. And after a review of damage evaluation, track irregularities and structural calculation by using a numerical analysis, stability of the subway structure according to nearby tunnel excavation was evaluated to be secured. This study is expected to be applied as useful reference in advance if you need to review the effects of existed structure according to nearby construction in complex urban tunnelling.
