Study for the prediction of ground-borne vibration induced by subway (지하철에 의한 지반 진동 예측에 관한 연구)

  • Subway train-induced ground-borne vibration is studied. Previously used vibration level prediction equations are reviewed. Measured vibration levels are compared with the predicted results and numerically computed results. The results show that vibration level does not decrease proportionally with the distance.

Measurement of 18GHz Radio Propagation Characteristics in Subway Tunnel for Train-Wayside Multimedia Transmission (지하철 터널에서의 18GHz 무선영상신호 전파특성 측정)

  • This paper presents an experimental study on the radio propagation characteristics in subway tunnel at 18GHz frequency band which has been assigned to video transmission between train and wayside. The radio propagation tests are carried out in the subway tunnel of Seoul Metro using the antenna and communication devices of the prototype video transmission system. The measurement results show that 18GHz radio propagation in subway tunnel has smaller path loss than that of general outdoor radio environment. It is also cleared that the arch-type tunnels have smaller radio propagation losses than rectangular tunnels, and single track tunnels have smaller pass loss than double track tunnels. From the measurements, the radio propagation coverage is worked out as 520 meters. The curved tunnels which cannot have LOS communication between transmitter and receiver have large pass losses and fluctuation profile along distance. The radio propagation coverage along curved tunnels is worked out as 300 meters. These investigation results can be used to design the 18GHz radio transmission system for subway tunnel by providing the optimized wayside transmitter locations and handover algorithm customized to the radio propagation characteristics in subway tunnels.

A Study on Categorizing Subway Station Areas in Seoul by Rail Use Pattern (서울시 역세권의 유형화에 관한 연구 (요일별 시간대별 지하철 이용인구를 중심으로))

  • The purpose of this study is to categorize subway station areas in Seoul by rail use characteristic. Most studies have categorized rail-oriented areas, based on land use patterns or/and urban spatial structure in Korea as well as the United States. However, the land use pattern of a subway station area tends to form by the real use of subway users since the latter plays an important role in forming the former. Therefore, the study is expected to contribute to the planning and policy of subway station areas in Seoul by analyzing characteristics of rail use. To achieve the purpose, the study uses a factor analysis for rail use, in terms of time of the day and day of the week. and then conducted a multidimensional scaling method to identify a relation of the real pattern to land use pattern. The results find that the Seoul subway station areas are categorized into residential, commercial and recreational, and office-centered ones. Furthermore, unlike the results of previous studies, the study identifies that many station areas have the mixed characteristics of economic activities. That is, they form more than a centered function such as residential and commercial, residential and office, commercial and office, residential, commercial and office. In addition, the study identifies that there is a close connection between rail use and land one. In short, identification of these mixed characteristics for subway station areas is expected to contribute to developing the planning and development method of TOD in Korea.

Equity implications of Subway use in Seoul, Korea (서울시 지하철 이용에 따른 형평성 분석)

  • This study explores horizontal equity problems in the Seoul Subway System by using costs per passenger kilometer as a comparison index. In general, subway users in the central area, except Line 1, are subsidizing users in fringe areas. Spatial differentiation of user cross subsidies in the area is due mainly to interactions between factors such as vehicle kilometers traveled, number of passengers, and length of segments. In order to decrease levels of user cross subsidies among the users and so relieve honzontal equity problems associated with subway use, it is necessary to develop a user fare system in which portions of marginal costs of subway use can be distributed properly among users. However, two-stage fare structure of the subway system in the study area is based only on trip distance, and so marginal costs associated with subway use are not properly reflected in user fees. Therefore, horizontal equity of the system in the study area is affected because of inappropriate user fees.

A Study on the Influence Factors of Land Value by Urban Spatial Constitution (역세권 공간구조특성이 지가에 미치는 영향요인분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to draw the development direction of subway adjacent area by distance through an analysis on influence factors of land value by urban spatial constitution. The method of this study is analyzing influence factors of land value by the distance of subway adjacent area by using regression analysis method with urban spatial constitution variables from advanced research and drew the difference and extent of land value influence factors by distance of subway adjacent area. The result of analyzed the influence factors of land value by distance to draw the purpose of this study, which is the direction of development by distance of subway adjacent area, the connected area has shown the development direction as high density development centrally on commercial and improvement of accessibility and decrepit status, the directly influence area shows as complexity with high density centrally on commercial and business and lastly, the in directly influence area has shown the development direction as complexity of residential and commercial, improvement of accessibility and decrepit status. This study has used land value as a dependent variable to verify the speculation of this study based on the contents, the results of the analyze and the critical points of precedent studies to draw the development direction of subway adjacent influence area by using autonomous variables from advanced research. Upon this, drew a conclusion of this study as analyze of influence factors of land value could be a reference material for development of subway adjacent area.
