This paper presents a numerical investigation of the effect of the rotation speed on the performance in a transonic axial compressor with the dihedral stator. Four stator geometries with different stacking line variables were tested in the flow simulations over the whole operating range. It was found that a large shroud loss at the rotor outlet and the subsequent shroud corner separation in the stator passage occurred at low mass flow rate with the 100 % design speed. The hub dihedral stator could suppress the shroud loss region and consequently improve the stall margin. In case of the 70 % design speed condition as the mass flow rate decreased, it was seen that the high loss region was placed at the midspan of the rotor passage. The dihedral stator slightly affected the local diffusion factor, but the performance of the compressor was not changed.
This review focuses on the nutritional effects from birth until age at first calving on growth, mammary developmental changes, and first-lactation milk yield in heifer calves. The advancement in the genetic potential and the nutritional requirements of the animals has hastened the growth rate. Genetic selection for high milk yield has suggested higher growth capacity and hence increasing nutritional inputs are required. Rapid rearing by feeding high energy or high concentrate diets not only reduces the age of sexual maturity but also lowers the time period of attaining the age of first calving. However, high energy diets may cause undesirable fat deposition thereby affecting future milk yield potential. Discrepancies exist whether overfed or overweight heifers at puberty can influence the mammary development and future milk yield potential and performance. The data on post-pubertal nutritional management suggested that body weight at calving and post-pubertal growth rate is important in first lactation milk yield. There is a continuous research need for strategic feeding that accelerates growth of dairy heifers without reduction in subsequent production. Nutritional management from birth, across puberty and during pregnancy is critical for mammary growth and for producing a successful cow. This review will mostly highlight studies carried out on dairy breeds and possible available opportunities to manipulate nutritional status from birth until age at first calving.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the risk factors of the musculoskeletal workload of mid-old-age female caregivers by identifying work postures and subjective symptoms. Method: This study was carried out on a total of 206 subjects 206 mid-old-age caregivers(45~65 years old) from November 2009 to April 2010: 206 mid-old-age caregivers (45~65 years old) at the long-term hospital. A questionnaires survey on general factors and subjective symptoms of subjects was conducted. The risk factors of the musculoskeletal workload evaluation method is based on OWAS, RULA, REBA according to occupation properties. Results: The analysis of the rates of the subjective symptoms showed that 78.6% subjects experience low back pain. The analysis of the work type showed that transfer is the highest rate(36.3%) and position change is the second(18.2%). The analysis of the work postures showed that the thrusted back with twisting position over $20^{\circ}$ is highest rate(37.4%), the bended back forward with twisting position is the second(27.5%). Conclusion: This study suggested that the need of preventive education for caregivers and workload improve. It is hoped that subsequent study on the difference of subjective symptoms between educated caregivers and non educated caregivers will be conducted.

In order to achieve reliable but cost-effective crash simulations of stamped parts, sheet forming process effects were incorporated in simulations using the ideal forming theory mixed with the 3D hybrid membrane/shell method, while the subsequent crash simulations were carried out using a dynamic explicit finite element code. Example solutions performed for forming and crash simulations of I- and S-shaped rails verified that the proposed approach is cost-effective without sacrificing accuracy. The method required a significantly small amount of additional computation time, less than 3% for the specific examples, to incorporate sheet forming effects to crash simulations. As for the constitutive equation, the combined isotropic-kinematic hardening law and the non-quadratic anisotropic yield stress potential as well as its conjugate strain-rate potential were used to describe the anisotropy of AA6114-T4 aluminum alloy sheets.

Recently, CMP (Chemical mechanical polishing) technology has been widely used for global planarization of multi-level interconnection for ULSI applications. However, COO (cost of ownership) and COC (cost of consumables) were relatively increased because of expensive slurry. In this paper, we have studied the possibility of recycle of reused silica slurry in order to reduce the costs of CMP slurry. Also, we have collected the silica abrasive powders by filtering after subsequent CMP process for the purpose of abrasive particle recycling. And then, we annealed the collected abrasive powders to promote the mechanical strength of reduced abrasion force. Finally, we compared the CMP characteristics between self-developed KOH-based silica abrasive slurry and original slurry. As our experimental results, we obtained the comparable removal rate and good planarity with commercial products. Consequently, we can expect the saving of high cost slurry.
Bovine oocytes obtained from follicles(2~5mm) of ovaries after slaughter were cultured in TCM 199 medium with 10~20% heat-inactivated estrus cow serum(ECS) for 25~27 hr, at 39$^{\circ}C$ under 5% CO2 in air. At the end of culture period, some oocytes were stained with 1% acetoorcein and examined for the evidence of oocyte maturation. The remainder were used to assess the potential of in vitro fertilization(IVF) with frozen-thawed spermatozoa and subsequent development in media with or without bovine oviduct epithelial cell (BOEC) co-culture. The results obtained were summarized as follows ; 1. The maturation rate of oocyte in vitro in TCM 199 medium with 15% ECS group(76.3) was superior to 10% ECS group(68.3%) and 20% ECS group(64.5%). 2. The IVF rates of oocytes matured in vitro, and formation rate of male and female pronuclei were 63.6%(77/121) and 93.5%(72/77), respectively. The incidence of polyspermy was very low(2.4%). 3. Of 73 oocytes fertilized in vitro and cultured in TCM 199 medium with 10% fetal calf serum for 7 days, 41(56.3%) were cleaved over 2-cell and only 1(2.4%) was developed beyond the 16-cell stage. 4. Of 76 oocytes co-cultured with BOEC, 58(76.3%) were cleavaged and 23(39.7%) were developed to morula and blastocyst stage. The results of this study indicate that co-culture with BOEC deserved a positive effect on the IVF oocyte development through the 16-cell block.
The (0.8PPV+0.2DMPPV) copolymer and silica/borosilicate composites were synthesized by sol-gel process. The organic-inorganic hybrid solution was prepared by using of (0.8PPV+0.2DMPPV) copolymer precursor solution as a raw material for organic components and TEOS and TMB for glass components. Then by drying the solution in vacuum at 5$0^{\circ}C$ for 7days and subsequent heat treatment in vacuum at 15$0^{\circ}C$~30$0^{\circ}C$ for 2h~72h with heating rate of 0.2$^{\circ}C$/min and 1.8$^{\circ}C$/min, the organic-inorganic composites were synthesized. Microstructural evolution of the composites was characterized by DSC, IR spectrocopy, UV/VIS spectroscopy, and TEM. Elimination of the polymer precursor and degradation of the polymer were observed by DSC and Si-O and trans C=C absorption peaks were identified by IR spectra. The polymer was found to be successfully incorporated into the glass matrix and it was confirmed by the absorption peaks from the polymer in the UV/VIS spectra and the TEM results. The absorption peak of the composites was found to shift toward short wavelength side compared to that of the pure polymer and the amount of the blue shift increased with increasing the heat treatment temperature and heat treatment time and with decreasing the heating rate.

In this paper, we address vehicle modeling and dynamic analysis of four wheel steering systems (4WS). 4WS is one of the devices used for the improvement of vehicle maneuverability and stability. All research done here is based on a production vehicle from a manufacturer. To study actual system response, a three dimensional, full vehicle model was created. In past research of this type, simple, two dimensional, bicycle vehicle models were typically used. First, we modelled and performed a dynamic analysis on a conventional two wheel steering(2WS) vehicle. The modeling and analysis for this model and subsequent 4WS vehicles were performed using ADAMS(Automatic Dynamic Analysis of Mechanical Systems) software. After the original vehicle model was verified with actual experiment results, the rear steering mechanism for the 4WS vehicle was modelled and the rear suspension was changed to McPherson-type forming a four wheel independent suspension system. Three different 4WS systems were analyzed. The first system applied a mechanical linkage between the front and rear steering mechanisms. The second and third systems used, simple control logic based on the speed and yaw rate of the vehicle. 4WS vehicle proved dynamic results through double lane change test.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the biodegradability and performance of organic removal and methane production rate when treating piggery wastewater using a granule of two-phase anaerobic process applied UASB. BMP test was conducted as simple means to monitor relative biodegradability of substrate and to determine methane production of an organic material. The two-phase anaerobic process is consisted of a continuous flow stirred-tank reactor (CFSTR) for the acidification phase and an Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket reactor (UASB) for the methanogenesis. The acidogenic reactor played key roles in reducing the periodically applied shock-loading and in the acidification of the influent organics. A stable maximum biogas production rate was 400mL. The methane contents ranged from 73 to 80% during the experimental period. It is known that most of the removed organic matter was converted to methane gas, and the produced biogas might be high quality for its subsequent use.

This study was done to investigate the effect of vitamin E on hypoxia/reoxygenation-induced hepatic injury in isolated perfused rat liver. Rats were pretreated with vitamin E or vehicle(soybean oil). Isolated livers from fasted 18 hours were subjected to 45min of low flow hypoxia or N$_2$ hypoxia followed by reoxygenation for 30min. The perfusion medium used was KHBB(pH 7.4) and 50${\mu}$㏖/$\ell$ of ethoxycoumarin was added to the perfusate to determine the ability of hepatic drug-metabolizing systems, In low flow hypoxia model, total glutathione and oxidised glutathione levels were significantly increased by hepoxia/reoxygenation with slight increase in LDH levels. These increases were prevented by vitamin E pretreatment. In N$_2$ hypoxia model, LDH, total glutathione and oxidized glutathione levels were increased significantly by hypoxia but restored to normal level by reoxygenation. Vitamin E had little effect on this hypoxic damage. There were no significant changes in the rate of hepatic oxidation of 7-EC to 7-HC in both hepoxic models. But, the subsequent conjugation of 7-HC by sulfate or glucuronic acid were significantly decreased by hypoxia, but restored by reoxygenation in both hypoxia models. As opposed to our expectation, treatment with vitamin E aggrevated the decrease of the rate of conjugation and even inhibited the restoration by reoxygenation. Our findings suggest that hypoxia/reoxygenation diminishes phase II drug metabolizing function and this is, in part, related to decreased energy level.
