  • Several insects have been shown to exert a strong influence positively on peoples' emotions. Insect-mediated mental healthcare program was designed to help meet the physical, behavioral and developmental needs of adolescents. They were provided with an insectmediated mental healthcare program for a total of 10 sessions, one session per wk, at 1 h per session, accompanied by a pre- and post-test for emotion. Significant differences and correlations were found according to the individual participants' planning, subjective quality of life, self-reported depression and self-worth, respectively. The results indicated that adolescents who participated in the insect-mediated healthcare program group once showed significant improvement in their planning, subjective quality of life and self-worth. However, most of all participants' self-reported depression was not influenced. These findings suggest that pet-insects positively affect adolescent's emotional health via an insect-mediated healthcare program.

Methods: Subjects were 33 stroke patients who had a experience of hospitalization during last 1 year and their family. Data were obtained from personal interview by nursing students in October, 2003. We assessed the functional status of stroke patients, caregiver burden and the HRQOL of caregivers using SF-8. Results: A higher subjective burden was related to dependent functional status of patients than independent(P<.01). The independent cognitive function of stroke patients and good health of caregivers were related to high HRQOL of caregivers. PCS and MCS of HRQOL were negatively correlated to subjective burden, -.34(p<.01) and -.37(p<.05). Conclusion: We founded functional status of stroke patients. caregiver burden and HRQOL of caregivers were related to each other. To improve the HRQOL of caregiver, decreasing burden of caregivers and the functional status improvement of stroke patients must be considered.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the quality of life (QOL) and factors influencing the QOL in middle-aged and elderly cancer patients. Among the 2019 data of the Korea Health Panel, data from 498 adults over the age of 40 who were diagnosed with cancer by doctors were analyzed. As a result of the study, the mean QOL of middle-aged cancer patients was 0.90 (±0.09) and that of elderly cancer patients was 0.86 (±0.12). The QOL of middle-aged cancer patients was significantly higher than that of elderly cancer patients. Factors influencing the QOL of middle-aged cancer patients were subjective health status, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and bedridden status. Factors influencing the QOL of elderly cancer patients were subjective health status, bedridden status, economic activity, education level, regular physical activity, stress, and age. In order to improve the QOL of middle-aged and elderly cancer patients, along with interest in the QOL of middle-aged and elderly cancer patients, it is necessary to develop an age-specific intervention program, such as reducing anxiety and suicidal ideation for middle-aged cancer patients, and improving regular physical activity and reducing stress for elderly cancer patients.

The higher OHIP in the smokers had the negative correlation with nicotine dependence, alcohol consumption, tooth pain, gum bleeding, and halitosis. In order to improve OHIP, smokers are encouraged to manage gum bleeding, and non-smokers to halitosis. Conclusions: In order to improve OHIP, cessation of smoking and alcohol consumption is very important and it can lead to improve the quality of life in the workers.

  • Purpose : This study aims to identify the factors influencing health-related quality of life through machine learning of the general characteristics of patients with hypertension and to provide a basis for related research on patients, such as intervention strategies and management guidelines in the field of physical therapy for health promotion. Methods : Annual data from the second Korean Health Panel (Version 2.0) from 2019 to 2020, conducted jointly by the Korea Health and Social Research Institute and the National Health Insurance Service, were analyzed (Korea Health Panel, 2024). The data used in this study was collected from January to July 2020, and the data was collected using computer-assisted face-to-face interviews. Of the 13,530 household members surveyed, 1,368 were selected as the final study participants after removing missing values from 3,448 individuals diagnosed with hypertension by a doctor. Results : The results showed that walking (P2) was the most significant factor affecting health-related quality of life in random forest, followed by perceived stress (HS1), body mass index (BMIc), total household income (TOTc), subjective health status (SRHc), marital status (Marr), and education level (Edu). Conclusion :To prevent and manage chronic diseases such as hypertension, as well as to provide customized interventions for patients in advanced stages of the disease, research should be conducted in the field of physical therapy to identify influencing factors using machine learning. Based on the findings of this study, we believe that there is a need for additional content that can be utilized in the field of physical therapy to improve the health-related quality of life of patients with hypertension, such as diagnostic assessment and intervention management guidelines for hypertension, and education on perceived stress and subjective health status.
