The purpose of this study is to investigate the propriety of TMA clathrate as a cold storage medium. Particularly, this is to examine the extent of subcooling improvement when the additives are added to the TMA clathrate, because water used cold storage material has low phase change temperature and subcooling. This study has been analysed and compared with TMA 30 wt% clathrate how phase change temperature, subcooling and specific heat in the various concentrations are changed. This results view to be improved phase change temperature and subcooling of TMA 30 wt% as a cold storage medium, when it had some additive. Additional1y, it is found that the additive must be controlled under available solution limit and study for new additive must be lasted to know its effect.
This study has been conducted the possibility of the subcooling type ice storage cooling system that the stored ice used to subcool the condensed refrigerant. The experimental study was done to fine the characteristics of the cooling capacity according to the variation of the subcooling degree and the analysis for the peak shift effect of the full storage, partial storage and subcooling type ice storage system compared to the normal air conditioning system was also done. The result of the analysis was shown that the peak shift effect of this subcooling type ice storage system could be 61%.
The objective of this paper is to investigate the thermal properties of TMA clathrate applicable to cold storage system for building air-conditioning. Especially, the test tube experiments are peformed by comparing and analyzing the temperature of phase change, specific heat and subcooling characteristic according to the variation of concentrations and temperature of heat source in TMA clathrate. The results are summarized as follows; 1) temperature of phase change is dropped as the temperature of heat source is lower, 2) the effect of subcooling suppression with about $9.3^{\circ}C$ is confirmed when the temperature of heat source is $-10^{\circ}C$ in case of 30wt%, while the temperature of subcooling is about $0^{\circ}C$ when the temperature of heat source is $-15^{\circ}C$ in case of 25, 29wt% and 30wt% . Thus, the effect of subcooling suppression is greater as the temperature of heat source is lower. Additionally, the concentrative study is needed on mass concentration causing the phase change without subcooling phenomenon when the temperature of heat source is $-15^{\circ}C$ Thus, it is concluded that TMA clathrate has proper properties as the cold storage medium for building air-conditioning.

Critical too-Phase flow rates of subcooled water through Short Pipes (L 140039n) with small diameters (D$\leq$7.15 min) have been experimentally investigated for wide ranges of subcooling (0~199$^{\circ}C$) and pressure (0.5~2.0 MPa). To examine the effects of various parameters (i.e., the location of flashing inception, the degree of subcooling, the stagnation temperature and pressure, and the pipe size) on the critical two-phase flow rates of subcooled water through short pipes with small diameters, a total of 135 runs were made for various combinations of test parameters using four different L/D test sections. Experimental results that show effect of various parameters on subcooled critical two phase flow rates are presented in the form of graphs such as the dimensionless mass flux ( $G^{*}$) versus the dimensionless subcooling ( $T_{sub}$$^{*}$) curve. An empirical correlation expressed in terms of a dimensionless subcooling is also obtained for subcooled two-phase flow rates through present test sections. Comparisons between the mass fluxes calculated by present correlation and a total of 755 selected experimental data points of 9 different investigators show that the agreement is fairly good except for very low subcooling data obtained from small L/D (less than 10) orifices.s.s.s.
Augmentation of CHF by ultrasonic is experimentally studied under subcooling pool boiling condition. Experiment is carried out for downward-facing plate with and without the ultrasonic. The working fluid is distilled water. Experimental apparatus is composed of a bath, power supply, test section, ultrasonic generator, DAQ system. Experiment is performed with the subcooling temperature of $5^{\circ}C$, $20^{\circ}C$, $40^{\circ}C$ and the inclined angle of $0^{\circ}$, $10^{\circ}$, $20^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, 90. From the experimental results, it is found that ultrasonic effect enhances CHF of the downward-facing plate. As increasing the degree of subcooling, the rate of CHF increase is enhanced. As increasing the inclined angle, the rate of CHF increase decreases. Also, we can see that the heat transfer mechanism of CHF augmentation is closely connected with the dynamic behavior of bubble generation and departure.
Effects of subcooling on pool boiling heat transfer in vertical annuli with closed bottoms have been investigated experimentally. For the test, a tube of 19.1mm diameter and the water at atmospheric pressure have been used. Three annular gaps of 7.05, 18.15, and 28.20 have been tested in the subcooled water and results of the annuli are compared with the data of a single unrestricted tube. The increase in pool subcooling results in much change in heat transfer coefficients. At highly subcooled regions, heat transfer coefficients for the annuli are much larger than those of a single tube. As the heat flux increases and subcooling decrease, a deterioration of heat transfer coefficients is observed at the annulus of 7.05mm gap. Single-phase natural convection and liquid agitation are the governing mechanisms for the single tube while liquid agitation and bubble coalescence are the major factors at the bottom closed annuli.
The performance characteristics of heat pump system using the new refrigerant subcooling system were investigated. The new heat pump system has the ice storage tank to accumulate the latent heat of the refrigerant during the night-time. The heat is released to subcool the saturated refrigerant liquid at the outlet of a condenser in the daytime. The experimental apparatus is a well-instrumented heat pump which consisted of a refrigerant loop and a coolant loop. The test sections(condenser and evaporator) were made of tube-in-tube heat exchanger with the horizontal copper tube of 12.7[mm] outer diameter and 9.5[mm] inner diameter. The evaporating temperatures ranged from $-5[^{\circ}C]$ to $0[^{\circ}C]$ and the subcooling degrees of the refrigerant varied from $15[^{\circ}C]$ to $25[^{\circ}C]$. The test of the ice storage was carried out at evaporating temperature of $-10[^{\circ}C]$ and the ice storage mode is an ice-on-coil type. The main results were summarized as follows ; The refrigerant mass flow rate and compressor shaft power of the heat pump system were independent of the subcooling degrees. The cooling capacity o the heat pump system increases as the evaporating temperature and subcooling degree increases. The cooling capacity of the heat pump system is about 25 to 30% higher than that of normal heat pump system. The COP of the heat pump system which subcooled the refrigerant liquid at the outlet of the condenser is about 28% higher than that of the normal heat pump system.
A numerical study on the melting process inside an isothermal spherical capsule is made. It is assumed that the phase change medium of its solid phase is heavier than the liquid phase and therefore the unmelted solid core is continuously moving downward on account of gravity forces. Such a gravity-assisted melting is commonly characterized by the existence of a thin liquid film below the solid core. The present study is motivated to present a full-equation-based analysis of the influences of the initial subcooling and the natural convection on the fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics associated with the gravity-assisted melting. In the light of the solution strategy, the present study is substantially distinguished from the existing works in that the complete set of governing equations in both the melted and unmelted regions are resolved without subdivision of the solution domains. For example, the liquid film region and the upper melted region are treated here as one domain and thus obviating laborious efforts to couple them. Numerical results are obtained by varying the Rayleigh numbers and the degree of subcooling. For the range of parameters examined, the presence of subcooling was found to impede the melting rate. The dropping velocity of the unmelted solid core was observed to affect the natural convection in the liquid significantly. When compared with the available experimental data, much improved prediction was achieved.

In this paper a new type refrigerant liquid subcooling system which adopts ice storage system is proposed. And the cycle characteristicso of a new system was investigated. Since this system subcools a refrigerant in the daytime using the ice storaged by electric power in the night it is high efficiency heat pump system which have the merit of ice storage system and possible to improve the performance of the heat pump. The running to storage the ie was carried out for 10 hours in the night and th evaporating temperature was set on $-5^{\circ}C.$ Subcooling operation stayed as 430^{\circ}C$ subcooling degree and perfomed till the water in the IST(Ice storage tank) was reached $12^{\circ}C$. The experimental result showed that a new system was superior to the existing refrigeration system generally. The total cooling capacity of a new system was about 11% higher than that of the existing refrigeration system. And the COP of a new system was improved by 22% compared to the existing refrigeration system.
Experiments to measure the pool boiling heat transfer on the micro-fin surfaces were performed with PF5060. The effects of various orientation and subcooling of heat surface on pool boiling performance were investigated under various heat-flux conditions for plain and micro-fin surfaces. The comparison between the results of this study and those of previous work shows a similar trend at the same conditions. From the results, it is proved that nucleate boiling performance is strongly dependent on the orientation, the micro-fin structure and the subcooling of heat surface. The heat flux on the surface with orientation angles of $45^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$ was larger than that on horizontal surface(${\theta}=0^{\circ}$) at same wall superheat because of the effect of bubble sweeping. The nucleate boiling performance of micro-fin surfaces is enhanced by decreasing the fin size(WxL) and the pitch, respectively. The subcooling makes nucleate boiling performance lower for both micro-fin and plain surfaces.
