The abilities for 21st learners have recently changed and learners' engagement is emphasized. In flipped classroom, students learn the prerequisite concepts of the lecture online in advance and perform various types of activities based on interaction and engagement. As students in flipped classroom construct knowledge actively, students' engagement is very important. Therefore, I conducted a research of flipped mathematics class to help teachers to better understand students' engagement in flipped mathematics class. The flipped mathematics class was conducted for about 3 weeks with 29 middle school students and one teacher. Video and audio recordings, completed student worksheets and interview data were collected and analyzed using the qualitative method. The results of this study showed that students' engagement is influenced by diverse factors. Engagement factors were categorized by teacher factors, community factors, material factors, tasks and strategy factors, classroom culture factors. Each factor facilitates or suppresses behavioral, emotional, cognitive, agentic engagements, and sometimes several factors are related. The results of this study increase understanding of engagement through the example of a case study on flipped mathematics class.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in non-cognitive factors, specifically achievement goal orientation (AGO) and self-regulated learning (SRL), influencing the academic achievement (AC) of medical and nursing students. 186 students, including 110 medical students and 76 nursing students, completed a survey, which addressed the factors of AGO and SRL. There were significant differences in the factors that affected the academic achievement of medical and nursing students. Multiple regression revealed that the AC of medical students was significantly more affected by mastery-approach AGO (p<0.05), seeking information (p<0.001), and rehearsing/memorizing SRL (p<0.01), while the AC of nursing students was affected by performance-approach AGO, self-efficacy (p<0.001), and time-management SRL. Analysis of variance revealed that significant differences in the sub-factors of AGO and SRL between the medical and nursing students. Thus, it was found that the academic achievement of medical and nursing students was influenced by non-cognitive factors, but there were significant differences in the sub-factors by group. It is suggested that comparative studies with other student groups and a longitudinal study of medical and nursing students need to be conducted, and a personalized counseling and learning intervention focusing on non-cognitive factors should be provided to medical and nursing students.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the situations and satisfaction of fashion design education in Busan, and the way to promote it. Data were collected from 192 college(university) students and 185 vocational students living in Busan and analysed by frequency analysis, factor analysis, Cronbach's $\alpha$, multiple regression, and t-test. The results are as follow; 1. Factor analysis has extracted three factors: environmental factors, student factors and quality of education factors. 2. The biggest factor that affects the satisfaction level of the education fumed out to be the student factors, followed by the environmental factors. 3. Demonstrated that vocational students were more satisfied with their education and had a higher degree of pride and confidence in their educational factors and level of satisfaction than college(university) students. In conclusion, we must encourage the industrial-educational corporation to promote the practicality of the fashion design education system and make diversification and specialization of the curriculum of fashion design education to cultivate students of talent.
This study was designed to assess demotivation factors and compare the factor between two secondary school student groups. It furthermore examined how the factors related to students' L2 proficiency. A 31-item questionnaire was completed by 407 junior (JH) and senior high school (SH) students. Five factors were extracted through the principal axis factoring: Teachers' competence and teaching styles, Dissatisfaction with English classes and grading system, Difficulty of learning English, Lack of motivation and interest in learning English, and Inadequate learning contents. Although both JH and SH students did not perceive their English teacher as a strong attribution of demotivation, Difficulty of learning English and Dissatisfaction with English classes and grading system were the two strongest demotivating factors. When compared the overall mean scores of each factor between JH and SH groups, significant differences were found in all factors except Factor 4, with SH students reporting stronger demotivation. JH students attributed their demotivation to Difficulty of learning English, while SH students attributed that to Dissatisfaction with English classes and grading system. Both groups tended to attribute their demotivation to external forces. The study also showed that several demotivation factors related negatively to L2 proficiency.
This research aims to explore the factors affecting engineering students' major persistence and career decision. To achieve this goal, the experiences and perceptions of engineering students and other stakeholders regarding the factors influencing engineering students' major persistence and career decision were analyzed through online focus group interviews (FGI). The analysis of the interviews resulted in the identification of seven categories, which include meeting with older alumni, team project experiences, and internship experiences as factors influencing major persistence. Additionally, engineering interest, engineering self-efficacy, employment rates, economic factors, and limitations in women engineers' career development were identified as factors affecting career decision. Based on these findings, it is expected that engineering education will develop plans that focus on supporting the major persistence and career development of engineering students, thereby contributing to the future direction of engineering education.

Objectives: The main purpose of this study was to compare influencing factors on depression between male and female students at the high school. Methods: The self-administered questionnaire survey was carried out on a convenience sample of 403 high school students. The data analysis procedure included frequency, ${\chi}^2$ test, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression using depression as the dependent variable. Results: There was a significant gender difference in depressive symptoms; the mean depression score of female students was higher than that of male students. Stepwise multiple regression analysis for depression revealed that the most powerful predictors (34%) were powerlessness and self-esteem for male students. On the other hand, the factors such as self-esteem, mother's occupation, and family fucntion were the most significant predictors (50%) for female students. Conclusion: The necessity of an intervention considering gender difference in high school students so as to prevent the occurrence of depression was suggested.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between the obesity rate in elementary school students in Daejeon and the relevant factors such as social-demographical factors, genetic factors, birth factors, diet factors and intelligence factors. Methods: For the research, 443 fourth grade students, 405 fifth grade students and 417 sixth grade students from six elementary schools in Daejeon Metropolitan City Participated in this study and classified into three groups: normal-weight group, mild obesity group, and moderate or severe obesity group. Results: The total obesity rate of the elementary school students in the school district of Daejeon Metropolitan City was 14.2%; the rate of mild obesity was 7.2%; the rate of moderate obesity was 5.5%; and the rate of severe obesity was 1.5%. The obesity rate of surveyed boys was 16.9%, and the obesity rate of girls was 11.1%. The significant factors for girls' obesity were fathers' EMI, mothers' EMI, living standards, constant demand of foods, preference for greasy foods, frequency of eating snacks, and daily walking hours. It was found that students' subjective mind and objective health index were related to obesity. In the case of obese students, they had more concern about their health and more stress from the dissatisfaction of their physical appearance than normal students. Conclusions: From the above evidences, it is apparent that the obesity of elementary school students has strong relations with eating habits rather than physical activities. It is to be hoped that obesity prevention programs such as effective meal guidance. parental guidance for watching TV, and intense physical activities will be included in the curriculums of health education for elementary school students.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: School food service has played an important role in promoting the health and physical condition of students by providing students with a balanced and nutritious diet. Therefore, boosting the quality of school food service and improving the students' satisfaction is critical. For this purpose, this study examined the structural causal relationship among the quality of school food service factors, emotional responses, and satisfaction in China. SUBJECTS/METHODS: This study was conducted with 4th-6th-grade students from 6 junior high schools in Henan province of China, with 590 questionnaire responses (87.3%) collected and statistically analyzed. RESULTS: The school food service quality factors (including menu management, dietary education, facilities management, price and food distribution management, and personal hygiene during meals) must be enhanced to boost the students' satisfaction. In addition, the study used questionnaire survey data to validate the full mediation of students' emotional responses between school food service quality factors and student satisfaction. CONCLUSIONS: Students' emotions also play an important role in influencing the quality of school food service, all of which affect the emotional responses of students. Therefore, students' positive emotions are an important indicator for improving the quality of school food service. A national support policy is necessary for the ongoing maintenance and development of various programs that drive students' satisfaction and promote the adoption of education guidelines for school food service in China.
