근대주의 이후의 건축 공간의 변모 (A Study on the Architectural Space After Modernism)

  • The main purpose of this study is to reveal the properties and specialities of architectural space after Modernism. Space was the main theme of Modernity in architecture and they insist Modern architectural space had its own characteristics compared with the earlier period. With view that another paradigm of space is rising as a criticism of and departure from Modernity, this study try to show what is the contents of difference and how it express in reality. We can find a new trends in architectural spaces, that are the production of totally different circumstantial background as like information society, digital media environment, post structuralism, new science and heterotopian situation in urbanism. We can call it Post Modernity in architectural space that would find the 'Otheness' and expand the territory of architecture. It means not only the change of architectural space itself but also different cognition and perception of space is taking place. Contemporaru architectural space has lost its materiality and conventional socio-cultural functions. Dematerialization and media or image -like being is the new characteristics instead. It demands a new way of being in a different life-world as well as the new expenence of architecture.

Mieko Han의 한국어 음성학 연구 (Mieko Han and her Works on Korean Phonetics)

  • This paper deals with a general review of Mieko S. Han, who made a significant contribution to the studies of Korean phonetics during the 1960' s and early 1970' s. As both a single and joint author, Dr. Han published important papers in both quantity and quality, which have been cited among Korean phoneticians until today. Before Dr. M. Han' s work, professor of USC in the department of East Asian Languages & Cultures, there were only a few phonetics-related publications in Korea, most of which are papers or books based on non-experimental traditional approach. It is known that there was coexistence between traditionalism and structuralism in the field of Korean linguistics. It was, however, fortunate that we had two important phoneticians (M. Han and Chin-W Kim) abroad at that time. Mieko Han' s concern was to investigate experimental characteristics of the system of Korean vowels and consonants using a Spectrograph, which was the single most important tool for analysing phonetic data at that time. Dr. Han conducted her experimental studies on Korean phonetics, mostly funded by the Office of Naval Research, in terms of duration, fundamental frequency, Voice Onset Time (VOT), intensity, and so on. This paper aims to re-appreciate Dr. Han's specific contribution to the study of Korean phonetics since she played an important role as a pioneer of early Korean phonetics. Further, it is highly recommended that Dr. Han's works can be extremely useful for a graduate student, who seriously would like to specialize in Korean phonetics in the first step.

  • 컴퓨터 게임에 대한 인식은 심리적, 사회적으로 강력한 그 영향력에 비해, 미약한 실정이다. 이에, 긍정적이고 진지한 컴퓨터 게임에 대한 접근을 시도함으로ㅆ, 미래의 주류가 될 가능성이 큰 이 새로운 미디어 형태에 대한 위상을 고취시키는데 도움이 되고자 한다. 프로이트를 기점으로 하여, 주로 프랑스의 후기구조주의적 입장의 도움을 빌러 컴퓨터게임에 대한 이해를 도모하려 노력하였다. 그 결과, 꿈에 대한 연구에서 출발하여, 욕망과 언어구조, 그리고 주체와 대상 간의 차이에 의한 역동으로 컴퓨터 게임 플레이를 조망하기에 이르렀고, 인간의 심리와 신체를 통해 현실에 그 흔적을 남기는, 적적히 컨트롤해야할 파르마콘적 존재로서 컴퓨터 게임에 대한 결론을 내리게 되었다.

The Impact of Credit and Stock Market Development on Economic Growth in Asian Countries

  • The paper has used the Solow-Swan growth model to analyze the long-term impact of credit market development and stock market development on economic growth in Asia from 2000 to 2019. The empirical model is performed with panel cointegration analysis by Common Correlated Effects (CCE) method with cross-sectional dependencies. The results find that there exists a cointegration relationship among stock market, credit market development, and economic growth. These results also show that financial structure improves the exact impact of financial development on economic growth, namely the opposite effect of stock market development and credit market development. Moreover, the Granger causality test reveals a bi-directional relationship between credit market development and economic growth, while only unidirectional causality from stock market development to economic growth for the whole group panel. And it is different for a specific country, according to Kónya's test. The view of the new structuralism does not apply in the Asian financial system when we estimate the Nonlinear Autoregressive Distributed Lag model (NARDL) to analyze the asymmetric relationship between financial structure and economic growth. On the whole, policymakers can draw on the findings to provide policy implications to improve their country's financial system as well as pursue the goal of sustainable economic growth.

  • Contemporary fashion is experiencing a rise in design that combines heterogeneous things, or goes beyond the roles, boundaries, and meanings of existing things. This can be described as a 'heterogeneous fusion' that is different in character from the mixed use of heterogeneous materials, borrowed designs, and exaggeration of the silhouette that have been practices in fashion design, or the non-structure, deconstruction, and recombination that have existed since the age when post-structuralism was a central philosophy. This 'fusion' causes a 'confusion' of the generally accepted mental principle of 'one sense reacting to one stimulus', and breaks the boundary between the various senses, causing confusion in the senses of the individual, and leading him or her to experience unfamiliar feelings. In this process, all information received from external sources is not perceived as it is seen, but rather is perceived through a fusion of the individual's motivations, the environment in which it is perceived, the resulting change in emotion, and the individual's past memories. The combination of these heterogeneous elements visually accepted, or such a non-territorial combination acts as a 'fusion of senses' in the individual's perception, which causes confusion in the homeostasis of perception, and a change in emotion, and serves as a factor that causes the information to be stored in the memory for a long time. In parallel with deconstruction or non-structure, the 'heterogeneous fusion' found in modern fashion is taking root as a representative creative trend, and is represented in various forms such as the mixed use of subjects and materials, non-territorial borrowing, fusion with animal forms, fusion with non-physical geometry, and fusion with heterogeneous hair decoration.

Implications of Korean Red Fashion Boom during the 2002 FIFA World Cup

  • This study aims primarily to discuss the question 'What does the red fashion boom in Korean society during the 2002 World Cup mean\ulcorner' For this question, it describes fashion phenomena and characteristics that appeared during the time. Specifically, in order to understand the concrete essence of the red fashion boom in terms of clothing and textiles, this study classifies and describes the red fashion boom as 'object, process and symbol' concepts. It investigates each case within the context of fashion. Outside that context, then, the implications of the red fashion boom are examined based on cultural studies and other sociocultural perspectives. This question is considered by focusing on social pressures as ideology, looking at the voluntary behaviour of Korean people in this context and examining several other factors. This is an investigation of the relationship between fashion, society and culture pursuing fashion theory by reviewing the relevant theoretical backgrounds afforded by the humanities and the social sciences. Based upon the above theoretical discussions, it synthesises what factors contributed to the Korean red fashion boom. Finally, this study briefly states their applicability to cultural marketing in its practical aspects. This study has attempted to throw some light on the question 'What does the red fashion boom in Korean society during the 2002 World Cup mean\ulcorner' The Korean Red Fashion Boom emerged from its interrelation with each context of the World Cup, as in the dualism of 'Janus'. That is, the World Cup functioned as the positive face of a festival that collected deep emotions and passion and contributed to the integration of society. Whereas its negative face, ideologically speaking, personified the invisible capitalistic product produced by the nation, enterprises and the mass media. And the implications of the red fashion boom can be interpreted with reference to the two faced World Cup.

Study as to Formative Characteristics of High Tech Furniture Design -Laying Stress on Correlation between Technology Art and Furniture Design-

  • High Tech Design manner is a design concept that had been constantly discussed in constitution process of the West art history and modem ideology and had been experimented in industry, having started from futurism and structuralism in the early 20th century through Kinetic Art & Technology Art and up to now. High Tech Design had a great influence also on Post Modernism and more important is that this manner of design will be existing continually in the future too. From the modem times when machine civilization started, the artist and designers expressed a utopia will showing the future world with help of High Tech Design and modem people are realizing technology images as a utopia, in the space and material presented by this high tech design. And this utopia imply the images of dynamic power, speed making a voyage in universe, dream of future, hope, mass production, earth's environment, wealth etc. High Tech furniture was lightly designed by using thin steel wire, structure stressing the metallic characteristic and tempered glass, and it was used for presenting a convenient interior space visually, and with that it can make a unified sense in High Tech interior space, and a contrary effect compared with minimal space. High Tech Design equipped with glass and metal materials looking inappropriate for our interior space due to their sharp and cold image has been regularly used as living furniture, not only decoration function, and then there must be reasons for that. This study intends to research how High Tech Design has been changed and developed in the design history & West art history from the early 20th century, and to present it's value of development as data orienting, namely a direction for the industry of the next-generation and furniture design.

사건 개념에 의한 한국전통마당의 전의(轉依)성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Successive Circularity of Korean Traditional Yard by Simulacre Concept)

  • This thesis is to make it clear that simulacre concept of is an important factor that provides the motive to make spaces and to make it clear that yard in Korean traditional architecture has more meaning of a container that contains the simulacres of life than formal aspects. Namely, focusing on the simulacres, among existing important factors that cause changes in architectural spaces such as structure, function, beauty, I shall make it clear that simulacre concept, which is a creation thinking of post-structuralism philosopher, Deleuze, is a logic that builds and changes spaces. Also, the purpose of this research is to investigate successive circularity of yard spaces with the mutual relationship between simulacre concept that has virtual multiplicity and yard in Korean traditional architecture, a space of infinite emptiness. When certain simulacres occur in the yard, the ambivalence of simulacres provides meanings to yard by affiliating numerous simulacre factors, then by combination among those meanings, yard get mutual dependence. This is an important core point that I have focused on the beginning of this research. This research has found out the successive circularity of yard based on the relationship between simulacres and the essence of yard. The meaning of this research is to have found out that yard has the meaning of "a bowl that contains the simulacres of life," going over the simple meaning as a space between door and fence. Also, the simulacre concept is thought to be discussed as a motive for creation of various spaces from now on.

가상현실 기술을 활용한 역사학습 콘텐츠의 구현 (Implementation of Historic Educational Contents Using Virtual Reality)

  • 본 연구는 효과적인 학습 환경을 제공하기 위한 방안으로 가상현실 기술을 이용한 역사 학습 콘텐츠구현을 목표로 한다. 교육학적 관점에서 역사학습은 시대적 사실들을 역사적 상황 속에서 이해하고 구성 해나가는 역사적 맥락의 사고력이 중요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 다양한 유물 및 유적을 통한 역사적 사실이나 정보뿐만 아니라 시대적인 상황을 이해하고 상상력을 동원한 이해가 가능하도록 그 시대의 자연 환경 및 주거 환경을 함께 구현하여 제시한다. 또한 가상환경에서 다양한 정보를 수집할 수 있도록 역사교육에 관한 정보를 다양한 유형의 멀티미디어 콘텐츠로 제작하여 구성주의 학습요소를 고려하여 상호 연결함으로써 학습자가 주도적으로 학습을 수행할 수 있도록 유도한다. 본 시스템에서 사용자는 가상세계의 3차원 환경과 자유로운 상호작용을 통해 학습자의 판단 및 선택에 따라 스스로 정보를 구성해 나가는 것이 가능하다. 이로써 학습자는 가상공간에서의 경험학습을 통해 과학적 사고력과 상상력을 동원하여 적극적으로 학습에 참여하게 된다.

  • 시각예술 분야의 폭발적인 확산과 국제 영화제와 국제미술제가 실생활에까지 관계를 맺는 것은 교육의 대중화로 인한 일반인들의 문화욕구와 상류문화와 하류문화의 경제를 넘는 현대예술표현의 특성 때문이다. 모든 시각예술은 맥락 속에 존재한다. 사진이라는 기호 또한 고유하고 단일한 의미체계는 없으며 다른 모든 것과 마찬가지로 사회, 문화적인 맥락에 의거한다. 현대미술에 관한 이론적 해체와 실험적 표현은 난무하지만 이에 관한 해부는 그동안 미학과 미술사적 해석에 의존해 왔다. 그러나 최근의 포스트모던한 회화작품이나 사진작품을 이해하는 데에는 기호학적 해석이 이용되면서 이해의 영역을 넓히고 있다. 지금까지는 전시장에 보러가고 공연장에 들으러 간다고 이야기했지만 이것은 단지 시각적이고 청각적인 것으로 보기만 하고 듣기만 한다는 것으로 이해 될 수 있다. 이 글은 현대미술과 사진작품을 통하여 작품을 보기만 하는 것보다는 기호학적으로 읽어서 보다 총체적으로 접근 할 수 있다는 것이다.
