  • Recently in abroad, structural synthetic fiber developed, has been studied extensively as a substitute for steel fiber due to its properties such as corrosion-resistance, low density, good pumping, and in-place safety, etc. In this study, we conducted pull-out test, for seven different geometries of structural synthetic fibers and obtained optimum geometry for structural synthetic fiber which fully utilizes matrix anchoring without revealing fiber fracturing. According to pull-out test results, it was found that crimped type structural synthetic fiber give significant improvement in the interface toughness(roll-out enemy) and pull-out load.

  • In this study, the effect of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fiber volume fraction on the pullout behavior of structural synthetic fiber in hybrid structural synthetic fiber and PVA fiber cement composites are presented. Pullout behavior of the hybrid fiber cement composites and structural synthetic fiber were determined by dog-bone bond tests. Test results found that the addition of PVA fiber can effectively enhance the structural synthetic fiber cement based composites pullout behavior, especially in fiber interface toughness. Pullout test results of the structural synthetic fiber showed the interface toughness between structural synthetic fiber and PVA fiber reinforced cement composites increases with the volume fraction of PVA fiber. The microstructural observation confirms the incorporation of PVA fiber can effectively enhance the interface toughness mechanism of structural synthetic fiber and PVA fiber reinforced cement composites.

  • The bond properties between polypropylene fiber reinforced cement composites and structural synthetic fiber have been investigated. in this paper. Three levels of polypropylene fibers volume fraction were used, 0.10%, 0.15%, and 0.20% in a series of Dog-bone pull out tests. The bond strength between structural synthetic fiber and polypropylene fiber reinforced cement composites increases with the volume fraction of polypropylene fiber, but the bond strength decreases above the amount of 0.20% by volume of polypropylene fiber reinforced cement composites. Also, the addition of polypropylene fiber a significant improved the interface toughness and the frictional resistance, The microstructure of structural synthetic fiber surface was investigated after the pullout test. The scratched of structural synthetic fiber increased with the polypropylene fiber volume fraction.

  • The purpose of the study is to establish an optimum geometry and optimum geometry factor through bond test of a structural synthetic fiber, which fully utilizes matrix anchoring without fiber fracturing with the maximum pullout resistance. Seven deformed structural synthetic fibers with widely different geometries were investigated and pullout test was conducted. Included parameters are seven different types of fiber and two of mortar matrixes. The test result shows that the crimped type structural synthetic fiber is significant improvement in the interface toughness(pullout energy) and pullout load. The pullout test was performed with various size of crimped type structural synthetic fiber in order to invest optimum geometry factor, In the basis of the test results, optimum geometry factor is established such as D=b$^{{\alpha}0{\alpha}}$h$^{λ{\beta}}$.

  • The purpose of this study were evaluated to flexural and bond performance by sectional area and geometry change through bond and flexural test of a structural synthetic fiber. Six deformed structural synthetic fibers were investigated and pullout and flexural test was conducted. Included parameters is three different geometries of fiber and two of fiber sectional area. The test result shows that the cycles and amplitude of structural synthetic fiber increased, pullout load and pullout fracture energy decreased and flexural strength increased, if sectional area is same. The sectional area increased, pullout load and pullout fracture energy increased and flexural strength decreased, if cycles and amplitude of structural synthetic fiber is same. Based on test results, structural performance of the concrete could know that is influence by pullout performance of fiber as well as various factor (fiber number, material properties etc).

  • This study evaluated the flexural properties and fire resistance of polyolefm based structural synthetic fiber reinforced concrete. The effects of differing fiber length, dimension and fiber volume fraction were studied. Flexural and fire resistance test were conducted in accordance with the JCI SF-4 and RABT time heating temperature curve, respectively. The Flexural test results indicated that the polyolefln based structural fiber reinforcement showed an ability to increase the flexural toughness and good fire resistance significantly(as compared to steel fiber reinforcement).

  • The cement-based composites have relatively low tensile strength and toughness. The fiber addition is one of the most important ways of increasing the toughness of concrete. The steel fibers have been used conventionally in the shotcrete of tunnel lining. Recently, the structural synthetic fibers were developed and used frequently in some actual tunnel shotcreting in foreign countries. Now types of synthetic fibers have been developed in this study. The purpose of this study is to explore the strength and toughness characteristic of the concrete reinforced with synthetic fibers developed in this study. The result were compared with those of steel fiber reinforced concrete. It is seen that the performance of synthetic fiber reinforced concrete is good as much as that of steel fiber reinforced concrete, while the synthetic fibers have advantages in corrsion resistance and economy.

  • Fiber reinforced concrete has been used for tunnel lining and rehabilitation of old structures. Recently, structural synthetic fiber was developed to overcome the corrosive properties of steel fibers. Fibers play a role to increase the tensile and cracking resistance of concrete structures. The Post cracking behavior must be clarified to predict cracking resistance of fiber reinforced concrete. The purpose of the present study is to develop a realistic analysis method for post cracking behavior of synthetic fiber reinforced concrete members.

  • The synthetic fibers such as polypropylene(PP) and polyvilyl-alcohol(PVA) fiber are poised as a low cost alternative for reinforcement in structural applications. It has been reported that synthetic fiber in cement composites can control restrained tensile stresses and cracks and increase toughness, resistance to impact, corrosion, fatigue and durability. High performance fiber reinforced cementitious composite(HPFRCCs) shows ultra high ductile behavior in the hardened state, because of the fiber bridging properties. Therefore, a variety of experiments have being performed to access the performance of HPFRCCs recently. The research emphasis is on the flexural behavior of HPFRCCs made in synthetic fibers, and how this affects the composite property, and ultimately its strain-hardening performance. Three-point bending tests on HPFECCs are carried out. As the result of the bending tests, HPFRCCs showed high flexural strength and ductility. HPFRCCs made in PVA or Hybrid fiber were, also, superior to PP of singleness. On the other hand, effect of sand volume fraction on HPFRCCs made in PP was insignificant.
