Finite element and design code assessment of reinforced concrete haunched beams

  • This pioneer study focuses on finite element modeling and numerical modeling of three types of Reinforced Concrete Haunched Beams (RCHBs). Firstly, twenty RCHBs, consisting of three types, and four prismatic beams which had been tested experimentally were modeled via a nonlinear finite element method (NFEM) based software named as, ATENA. The modeling results were compared with experimental results including load capacity, deflection, crack pattern and mode of failure. The comparison showed a good agreement between the results and thus the model used can be effectively used for further studies of RCHB with high accuracy. Afterwards, new mechanism modes and design code equations were proposed to improve the shear design equation of ACI-318 and to predict the critical effective depth. These equations are the first comprehensive formulas in the literature involving all types of RCHBs. The statistical analysis showed the superiority of the proposed equation to their predecessors where the correlation coefficient, $R^2$ was found to be 0.89 for the proposed equation. Moreover, the new equation was validated using parametric and reliability analyses. The parametric analysis of both experimental and predicted results shows that the inclination angle and the compressive strength were the most influential parameters on the shear strength. The reliability analysis indicates that the accuracy of the new formulation is significantly higher as compared to available design equations and its reliability index is within acceptable limits.

Finite element modeling of reinforced and prestressed concrete panels under far-field blast loads using a smeared crack approach

  • This study presents a macro-modeling procedure for nonlinear finite element analysis of reinforced and prestressed concrete panels under blast loading. The analysis procedure treats cracked concrete as an orthotropic material based on a smeared rotating crack model within the context of total-load secant stiffness-based formulation. A direct time integration method compatible with the analysis formulation is adapted to solve the dynamic equation of motion. Considerations are made to account for strain rate effects. The analysis procedure is verified by modeling 14 blast tests from various sources reported in the literature including a blast simulation contest. The analysis results are compared against those obtained from experiments, simplified single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) methods, and sophisticated hydrocodes. It is demonstrated that the smeared crack macro-modeling approach is a viable alternative analysis procedure that gives more information about the structural behavior than SDOF methods, but does not require detailed micro-modeling and extensive material characterization typically needed with hydrocodes.

  • 우리나라의 교통사고 발생현황은 2008년 기준 215,822건으로 예년에 비하여 소폭 감소하는 추세이나 주요 선진국에 비해서는 여전히 높은 수준이다. 그 중 단속류 시설에서 발생하는 사고는 보행자들이 직접적으로 차량에 노출되어 차대사람 사고의 비율이 높아 심각한 결과를 유발하기 때문에 이를 방지하기 위한 추가적인 고려가 필요하다. 이에 교통사고의 유형별로 영향을 미치는 인자를 분석하였다. 단속류 시설에서 교통사고는 크게 차대차 사고와 차대 사람 사고로 그 성격과 특성이 구분될 수 있다. 따라서 교통사고 유형을 크게 두가지로 구분하고, 2005년부터 2007년까지 서대문구에서 발생한 교통사고 자료 분석을 통해 교통사고의 심각도와 외생적 변수들간의 관계를 추정하였다. 본 연구에서는 단속류 시설에서 교통사고 유형별 요인을 구조방정식모형(SEM : Structural Equation Modeling)을 이용하여 도출해내고, 모형을 구축하여 유형별로 사고의 주요인들을 파악하여 비교하였다. 최종 모형에서 도출된 결론은 차대차 사고에서는 도로 요인이, 차대사람 사고에서는 환경 요인이 크게 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 분석되었다.

  • This study investigated the relationship between fashion behavior, impression management behavior, and career success. A conceptual model and hypotheses were established based on theoretical linkages between the constructs. Thereafter, empirical data were collected using a set of questionnaires. For this reason, the sample was taken from 720 office workers' who worked at 14's Korea Enterprise, 697 of which was used for an empirical analysis (sample: men over 30 years of age and more than three years continuous service). This study conducted an exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis for the validity test. Cronbach's alpha test is used for the reliability test. Moreover, PLS structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed to test hypothesized relationships in the conceptual model (SPSS 20.0 window/Smart PLS 3.0). This study shows that the proposed model is reasonably fit to the actual data. The following results were obtained from the analyses. First, fashion behavior and impression management behavior is positively related to career success. The result shows that economics of the fashion behaviors sub-types were statistically more significant to influence career success. The self-focused of the impression management behavior sub-types were more than statistically significant to influence career success. This finding has great implications to understand self-management behavior and the career success of male office workers.

공분산구조분석을 이용한 고속철도와 국내항공의 이동단계별 서비스특성 비교연구 (A Comparative Study on the Service Characteristics for Transferring Process of High-Speed Rail and Domestic Airline Systems by Using Structural Equation Modeling)

  • 고속철도가 향후 지속적인 성과와 안정화를 도모하기 위해서는 고속철도 이용승객의 만족도를 높여 주어 지속적으로 고속철도를 이용하도록 해야 한다. 동시에 고속철도와 경쟁수단이라 할 수 있는 국내항공을 이용하는 고객과의 서비스특성 비교를 통하여 경쟁수단으로부터 우위를 점해야 한다. 구조방정식을 이용한 이용자의 서비스영향 모형개발을 위해 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 신뢰성분석, 상관분석, 요인분석을 통해 측정지표의 타당성 및 연구가설 설정을 위한 기초분석을 수행하였다. 구조방정식모형을 이용하여 경쟁수단간 서비스특성을 분석한 결과, 고속철도(KTX)는 이용자의 내부서비스(대기, 이동)를 개선해야 하는 것으로 나타났으며, 국내항공은 이용자의 외부서비스(접근, 환승)를 개선해야 하는 것으로 나타났다. 다시 말하면, 고속철도(KTX)의 경우 대기시설과 현재 일부구간에 제약을 받고 있는 이동부분에 개선이 필요한 것을 알 수 있으며, 국내 항공의 경우 공항으로의 접근 및 타 교통수단으로의 환승은 불편한 것으로 나타나 국내항공 이용시 접근체계 및 환승에 대 한 서비스 개선이 필요한 것으로 판단된다.

Nonlinear finite element based parametric and stochastic analysis of prestressed concrete haunched beams

  • The mechanical behavior of prestressed concrete haunched beams (PSHBs) was investigated in depth using a finite element modeling technique in this study. The efficiency of finite element modeling was investigated in the first stage by taking into account a previous study from the literature. The first stage's findings suggested that finite element modeling might be preferable for modeling PSHBs. In the second stage of the research, a comprehensive parametric study was carried out to determine the effect of each parameter on PSHB load capacity, including haunch angle, prestress level, compressive strength, tensile reinforcement ratio, and shear span to depth ratio. PSHBs and prestressed concrete rectangular beams (PSRBs) were also compared in terms of capacity. Stochastic analysis was used in the third stage to define the uncertainty in PSHB capacity by taking into account uncertainty in geometric and material parameters. Standard deviation, coefficient of variation, and the most appropriate probability density function (PDF) were proposed as a result of the analysis to define the randomness of capacity of PSHBs. In the study's final section, a new equation was proposed for using symbolic regression to predict the load capacity of PSHBs and PSRBs. The equation's statistical results show that it can be used to calculate the capacity of PSHBs and PSRBs.

  • 고분자 분야의 개발 및 양산과정에는 제어가 안되는 많은 변수가 있으며, 화학적 조성, 구조, 가공 조건 등 작은 변화에도 물성편차가 크게 발생하기에 보편적인 환경을 가정한 기존의 선형적 모델링 기법으로는 현장 데이터 적용시 많은 오차가 발생한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 최근 산업용 구동부품의 플라스틱 채용경향에 맞추어 엔지니어링 플라스틱인 Polyacetal 수지의 내마모성 및 내굴곡성 강화 연구에 다변량 분석기법인 구조방정식과 가우시안 프로세스 회귀를 결합한 모델링 방식(GPR-SEM)을 제안하고, 비선형성을 가지는 물질 모델링에 활용 가능성을 고찰하고자 한다.

신품종 기술수용의 구조관계 분석 -사료작물 신품종 도입의향 - (Structural Equation Modeling on Technology Acceptance for New Variety - Case of Forage Crop -)

  • This study aims to identify factors affecting the acceptance intention of cultivating a new Italian ryegrass(IRG) variety using partial least square structural equation modeling(PLS-SEM) and find priority to maximize the acceptance intention of new IRG variety using importance-performance matrix analysis(IPMA). The data were collected on a seven-point Likert-type from 188 farm households located in Korea central region for two months. As a major result of PLS-SEM, expected effect significantly affected acceptance intention. The IPMA also showed expected effect should be considered as the most important factor to improve the acceptance intention. This study suggested the new technology distributors should scientifically prove and actively promote the effects such as increase in farm income, productivity improvement, labor saving and management efficiency caused by planting new IRG variety.

구조방정식모형에서의 R을 이용한 부트스트랩 기반의 이중매개효과 분석 방안에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Double Mediation Analysis in Structural Equating Models with Bootstrapping Using R)

  • 본 연구는 R을 이용하여 구조방정식모형에서 이중매개효과 분석을 수행하는 방안을 제시하고 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 매개효과 분석을 위한 다양한 기법들에 대한 문헌연구를 통해 부트스트랩 기법을 이중매개 효과분석을 수행하는데 있어서 가장 적합한 기법으로 선정하고, PLS 경로분석 수행을 지원하는 R패키지인 plspm을 이용하여 구조방정식모델링에서 부트스트랩 기반의 이중매개효과를 분석하는 방안을 개발했다. 결과물로 본 연구에서는 예시모형을 대상으로 한 이중매개효과 분석기법과 관련 R스크립트들이 제시되었다. 본 연구는 대부분의 SEM 패키지들에서 지원하지 못하는 구조방정식모델링에서의 이중매개효과 분석을 포함하는 연구들에서 유용하게 활용될 것이며, 또한 연구자들에게 R을 이용한 새로운 매개효과 분석기법 제시를 통하여 심도 있는 연구를 위한 기반 지식을 제공할 것이다.

부모양육태도와 자아존중감 및 또래애착이 정서문제에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Parenting Attitude, Self-esteem and Peer Attachment on Emotion Problem)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Parenting Attitude, Self-esteem, and Peer Attachment on Emotion Problem. The study is based on data from first wave of 'Korean Child Youth Panel Survey 2010(KCYPS)' and the subjects of this survey were 2,098 1st grade junior middle school students. To measure the variables, this study used such scales as the parenting attitude scale, self-esteem scale, and peer attachment scale and emotional problem scale. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation and structural equation modeling analysis. Results of structural equation modeling with data indicated that hypothesized structural equation model produced a good fit but, no direct effect between negative parenting attitude and peer attachment. The self-esteem have mediating effect between parenting attitude and peer attachment, emotion problem. The peer attachment have mediating effect between positive parenting attitude and emotion problem but, did not have mediating effect between negative parenting attitude and emotion problem. The implications for counseling and suggestions for future research are discussed.
