  • The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between company risk and factors such as business size, ownership structure, and leverage. The study was conducted on 142 manufacturing sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2013 to 2018. The purposive sampling method was used to select the research sample. The sample size for this study was 21 different companies. The analytical approach uses Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with WarpPLS. According to the findings of the investigation, the size of the company has a significant influence on both the amount of leverage the company uses and the amount of risk the company takes. The level of leverage is significantly influenced by the ownership structure. However, the ownership structure does not have a significant impact on the level of risk the company; rather, leverage has a big impact on the level of risk the company faces. The findings of this study are helpful to prospective investors in measuring the risk posed by the company to make judgments regarding investments. The findings of this study are also essential for management to consider while controlling the risk of the organization.

  • Background: Depressive symptoms (DS) can erode physical and mental health; social support (SS) is considered a buffer for DS and a promoter for improving coping and recovery abilities. However, there is almost no research on the mediating role of negative coping (NC) in SS and DS, especially among firefighters. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among firefighters in Chongqing, China, and the valid data of 407 firefighters were collected through questionnaires distributed on the WeChat platform in 2020. Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS) 26.0 is used for descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. Structural equation modeling was adopted to analyze the association among SS, NC, and DS. The mediation effect is also evaluated. Results: Firefighters' detection rate of DS is 23.3%, and when they receive more SS were less likely to develop DS. NC was positively correlated with DS (β = 0.54, p < 0.001) after controlling for SS. Besides, the results of structural equation modeling showed that NC partially mediates the relationship between SS and DS (standard error = 0.039, indirect effects = 0.109, 95% confidence interval: 0.047-0.200 p < 0.001). Conclusion: NC has a partial indirect effect between SS and DS among firefighters. SS could not only affect DS directly but also indirect work on it by affecting NC. This discovery will be a novel and meaningful part of the research on the firefighter population.

  • This study focuses on safety behavior among research workers and investigates the factors influencing their safety behavior. The selected variables for examining their impact on researchers' safety behavior are safety leadership, safety climate, and safety motivation. Surveys were conducted to analyze the structural equation modeling among these variables. The results indicate that the safety leadership of research supervisors positively influences the creation of a safety climate in research laboratories. Additionally, the safety climate positively impacts research workers' safety motivation and behavior. Therefore, to enhance the safety behavior of research workers, it is necessary to strengthen safety leadership education to improve the safety leadership of laboratory supervisors. The laboratory can enhance its safety climate by implementing management policies and safety regulations, fostering communication among members, and providing safety education.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural relationship among the self-efficacy, self-directed learning ability, school adjustment and learning flow in middle school students by the structural equation modeling analysis. The subjects of this study consisted of 553 middle school students. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Pearson correlations and structural equation modeling analysis by using the SPSS 12.0 and AMOS 5.0 statistical program. The results of this study were as followed: First, there were significant correlations among the self-efficacy, self-directed learning ability, school adjustment and learning flow. Second, the self-directed learning ability and school adjustment directly affected the learning flow. Third, self-efficacy and school adjustment variables indirectly affected learning flow. The indices of the best fit model on these variable were adequate. This study shows that the self-efficacy, self-directed learning ability, school adjustment are the significant predictor for the learning flow during adolescent.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and verify the TPACK measurement tool for middle and high school mathematics teachers in the Korean context. Also, by clarifying the relationship between subordinate factors of Mathematics teachers' TPACK, an attempt was made to provide suggestions on the designs and directions for the in-service and pre-service teacher education and the programs for improving mathematics teachers' TPACK in the future. In order to achieve this goal, TPACK factors of mathematics teachers were extracted by reviewing literature on PCK, MKT, and TPACK. Then, content validity, basic statistical survey, reliability verification, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equation model verification were conducted sequentially. At first, preliminary analysis was carried out on 79 mathematics teachers, and 76 items excluding the items with extreme value and reliability were included in the basic statistical analysis. And secondly, an exploratory factor analysis was conducted on 376 mathematics teachers, and this instrument consisted of 7 subordinate factors(CK, PK, TK, PCK, TCK, TPK, TPACK) and 61 items. Also by conducting confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation model test with 254 mathematics teachers, the measurement tool was confirmed the validity and reliability through statistically significant analysis. Then, the importance of integrated knowledge was confirmed by looking at the relationship between the TPACK factors of in-service mathematics teachers. The integrated knowledge(PCK, TCK, TPK) has played a crucial role in the formation of TPACK rather than the knowledge of CK, PK, and TK alone. Finally, the validity of TCK was confirmed through the structural equation modeling of TPACK. TCK not only directly affected TPACK, but also indirectly through TPK. According to these affirmative results, this measurement tool is claimed to be suitable for measuring the factors of Mathematics teachers' TPACK, and also the structural equation model can be regarded as a suitable model for analyzing the structural relationship of mathematics teachers' TPACK.

  • Recently, the industrial paradigm shift to the fourth industry has already begun, and the importance of patents as intangible intellectual property in the fourth industry era is increasing day by day. Since the technical valuation of a patent is calculated according to the opinion of experts, it is costly and time consuming, and hence, the quality of the patent is judged based on subjective opinions of non-experts. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an objective and rational evaluation system for the qualitative level of patents. In this paper, we classify the valuation of patents into technicality, rights, and usability, and consider the quantitative and objective evaluation modeling of patents using Bayesian structural equation model. In particular, based on the data collected by the Korea Invention Promotion Association, we apply the Bayesian approach, which is capable of stable modeling even under small samples by using prior information, and the structural equation model, which is excellent for modeling and evaluating qualitative performance that is difficult to measure directly, to develop a patent evaluation model.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of belief in body control on appearance satisfaction using structural equation modeling. In the structural equation model, self-esteem was included as a common predictor variable of belief in body control and appearance satisfaction, and the ideal body type and perceived body type were included as mediator variables. The data was collected from 96 female college students in the State of Washington, United States, Using AMOS 4, confirmatory factor analyses were conducted to fit the measurement models, and then the fit of the structural model was examined. The results of this study are as follows: The indirect effect of belief in body control on appearance satisfaction through its negative effect on ideal body type was significant. Yet, the direct path of belief in body control to appearance satisfaction and the indirect path through their common relationships with self-esteem were found not significant. These results indicate that higher body control belief may lead to lower appearance satisfaction due to the decreased size of ideal body type.

  • When the formative construct is placed in the endogenous position, there are clear theoretical, mathematical, and empirical issues in model estimation. Nonetheless, scholars who have adopted structural equation modeling for empirical research and those who are engaged in debates on the viability of formative modeling fail to recognize the fundamental problems of employing formative measurement in the endogenous position. This manuscript is intended to set a corrective path by discussing three reasons why this frequented practice may be avoided in both theoretical and empirical research.
