Thexylalkoxyborane as Hydroborating Agent for Alkenes and Alkynes

  • In order to elucidate the effect of alkoxy substituent in thexylborane and hence establish their usefulness as hydroborating agent, reactions of alkenes and alkynes with thexylalkoxyborane (ThxBHOR; R=Et, i-Pr, i-Bu, sec-Bu, t-Bu, Ph) were investigated in detail. The reagents readily hydroborated alkenes and alkynes of various structural types at 25 ℃ in excellent regioselectivity. The selectivity increases consistently with increasing steric size of alkoxy substituent. Especially, the selectivity achieved by the sec-butoxy derivative is comparable to that previously achieved by thexylhaloborane-methyl sulfide (ThxBHX·SMe2), the most selective hydroborating agent known.

  • Designers and builders are omitting structural design and relying on workers' experience, due to the lack of awareness of the importance of scaffolding in domestic construction sites, and there is a high probability of collapsing accidents such as inappropriate wall joint installation and non-compliance with work procedures. Therefore, risk factors were analyzed in detail and major risk factors were derived from opinions of site managers and scaffolding experts in this study.

  • The sloshing pressure acting on a membrane-type LNG CCS is a typical irregular impact load, and the structural response of a tank system induced by sloshing also shows very complex behavior, including fluid structure interaction. Therefore, it is not easy to accurately estimate the sloshing impact pressures and resulting structural response. Moreover, a huge time consuming process to deal with the enormous pressure data obtained during a model tank test and the following structural analysis would be inevitable. To reduce the computation time for structural analysis, in this study, a rational structural modeling strategy was considered, and a simplified scheme to analyze the dynamic structural responses of an LNG CCS was introduced, which was based on the concept of the linear combination of the triangular response functions obtained by a transient response analysis of structures under unit triangular impact pressure. A structural analysis of a real Mark III membrane type insulation system under the sloshing impact pressure time histories obtained by model tests was performed using the various proposed structural models and simplified analysis scheme. The results were investigated in detail, including the elastic support effects of the hull structure.

양축 면내 압축하중 하의 이중판보강 선박판부재의 설계시스템 구축 (Development of Ship Plate Member Design System Reinforced by Doubler Plate Subjected to Biaxial In-plane Compressive Load)

  • Because of the importance of steel material saving and rational ship structural design due to the rapid increase in steel prices, a ship structural design system was developed for plate members reinforced by doubler plates subjected to biaxial in-plane compressive loads. This paper mainly emphasizes the design system improvement and upgrade according to the change in the in-plane loading condition of the doubler plate from the single load discussed in a previous paper to the biaxial in-plane compressive load discussed in this paper. A direct design process by a structural designer was added to this developed optimized system to increase the design efficiency and provide a way of directly inserting a designer's decisions into the design system process. As the second stage of preliminary steps of doubler design system development, design formulas subjected to these biaxial loads used in the doubler plate design system were suggested. Based on the introduction of influence coefficients $K_t_c$, $K_t_d$, $K_b_d$ and $K_a_d$ based on the variations in the doubler length, breadth, doubler thickness, and average corrosion thickness of the main plate reinforced by the doubler plate, respectively, the design formulas for the equivalent plate thickness of the main plate reinforced by the doubler plate were also developed, and a hybrid design system using these formulas was suggested for the doubler plate of a ship structure subjected to a biaxial in-plane compressive load. Using this developed design system for a main plate reinforced by a doubler plate was expected to result in a more rational reinforced doubler plate design considering the efficient reinforcement of ship plate members subjected to these biaxial loads. Additionally, a more detail structural analysis through local strength evaluations will be performed to verify the efficiency of the optimum structural design for a plate member reinforced by a doubler plate.

  • The objective of this paper is to introduce a project on developing Finish Drawing Automation System. The system aims to improve efficiency of the BIM-based estimation, which is realized by automatic derivation of three-dimensional geometry models of the finish details. First, overall workload differences between the drawing-based estimation methods and the BIM-based methods are analyzed. Second, an automated finish detail design method is proposed as a time-saving measure for the BIM-based estimation, as manual modeling accounts for the most time spent in the model-based estimation process. Finally, the proposed system is evaluated using a case of washboard design.

  • This paper presents review on human comfort criteria in major codes and standards for tall buildings. In general, human comfort criteria of tall buildings have been used by magnitude of wind-induced acceleration response. Two different indexes in determination of the magnitude have been used: the peak value which occurs during a period of time and the rms value averaged over this same period. These distinctive acceleration indexes are discussed in detail and each criterion is reviewed and compared. The distinctions arisen because of the different wave forms, or acceleration signatures are addressed. It is described that which index of acceleration should be adopted in establishment of Korean human comfort criteria. In addition, some arguments from a technical standpoint that favor the use of each index are presented.

  • 본 연구에서는 국외 설계사무실과 국내 설계사무실의 수행 프로젝트(표1)를 디지털 디자인 프로세스에서의 디지털 도구 활용 사례조사 결과를 일련의 설계 프로세스(기획(Pre-Design), 계획 설계(Schematic Design) 중간설계(Detail Design), 실시설계(Construction Design))를 11개의 설계 단위작업((1)자료수집, (2)도서화작업, (3)의사소통/프레젠테이션, (4)협력업체와의 협업, (5)디자인 실험, (6)디자인분석/유효성 검토, (7)빌딩시스템과 자재선정, (8)자재비교/견적, (9)디자인 발전, (10)RP를 이용한 모델 제작, (11)시공/제작)으로 분류하여(설계프로세스별로 디지털 디자인 툴의 활용 빈도를 조사 분석하는 것은 프로세스별로 중복된 설계 단위작업이 진행됨으로 연구결과의 의미가 잘못 해석될 수 있다.) 그 활용에 대한 유형을 분석하고 이를 바탕으로 설계과정에서의 디지털 디자인 툴의 활용특성을 도출하여 실무설계의 기초자료를 제공하는데 그 목적을 둔다.

  • This study presents an experimental study of the structural behavior for steel plate-concrete column-to-steel girder connections. Experiments were carried out to investigate the moment-rotation characteristics, failure behavior and ultimate moment capacity of these connections. The results of this experimental study involving three welded moment-resisting connections subjected to cyclic loading are presented. The specimens were fabricated at full scale to evaluate their hysteretic behavior. A description of the test specimens, the details of the joint, the test system and the testing methods are described. The test results showed that the structural behavior of these composite connections was influenced by the connection details.

공작기계의 서보제어와 입력성형기법 (Input Shaping for Servo Control of Machine Tools)

  • Servo control loops are a core part in the control architecture of machine tools. Servo control loops manage acceleration, velocity and position of all the axes in a machine tool based on commands. The performance of servo control loops sets the basis for quality of production paris and cycle time reduction. First, this paper presents a general control architecture of machine tools and several control schemes in literature, which can be applicable to machine tools control; including Zero Phase Error Tracking Control (ZPETC) and Cross Coupling Control (CCC). After that, modem control strategies to mitigate the problem of high speed machining are reviewed. In high speed machining, high accelerations excite the machine structure up to high frequencies, thereby exciting the structure's modes of vibration. These structural vibrations need to be damped if accurate positioning or trajectory following is required. Input shaping is an attractive option in dealing with structural vibrations. The advantages and drawbacks of using input shaping technique for machine tools are discussed in detail.
