2D 칼라 얼굴 영상에서 반복적인 PCA 재구성을 이용한 자동적인 잡음 제거 (Automatic Denoising in 2D Color Face Images Using Recursive PCA Reconstruction)

  • The denoising and reconstruction of color images are increasingly studied in the field of computer vision and image processing. Especially, the denoising and reconstruction of color face images are more difficult than those of natural images because of the structural characteristics of human faces as well as the subtleties of color interactions. In this paper, we propose a denoising method based on PCA reconstruction for removing complex color noises on human faces, which is not easy to remove by using vectorial color filters. The proposed method is composed of the following five steps; training of canonical eigenface space using PCA, automatic extracting of face features using active appearance model, relighing of reconstructed color image using bilateral filter, extraction of noise regions using the variance of training data, and reconstruction using partial information of input images (except the noise regions) and blending of the reconstructed image with the original image. Experimental results show that the proposed denosing method efficiently removes complex color noises on input face images.

COSMO-SkyMed 2 Image Color Mapping Using Random Forest Regression

  • SAR (Synthetic aperture radar) images are less affected by the weather compared to optical images and can be obtained at any time of the day. Therefore, SAR images are being actively utilized for military applications and natural disasters. However, because SAR data are in grayscale, it is difficult to perform visual analysis and to decipher details. In this study, we propose a color mapping method using RF (random forest) regression for enhancing the visual decipherability of SAR images. COSMO-SkyMed 2 and WorldView-3 images were obtained for the same area and RF regression was used to establish color configurations for performing color mapping. The results were compared with image fusion, a traditional color mapping method. The UIQI (universal image quality index), the SSIM (structural similarity) index, and CC (correlation coefficients) were used to evaluate the image quality. The color-mapped image based on the RF regression had a significantly higher quality than the images derived from the other methods. From the experimental result, the use of color mapping based on the RF regression for SAR images was confirmed.

  • This Study is concerned with the color design of Korean and Japanese wooden architecture. The main subject of the study is to investigate the commonness and difference of color decoration between Korean and Japanese Buddhist 'Danchung' in the modern ages. In carrying this study into execution, I examined the architectural and historical backgrounds, and analysed the elements, techniques and principles of color design. The result of this study is as follows ; 1. 'Danchung' was originated from the practical functions in Chinese wooden architecture, and developed to embody sensuous beauty in Buddhist temple. The techniques and principles of color design and color tone of Korean and japanese Danchung had been similar in the ancient ages. But little by little they have differed in its function and color tone. So they are very different in modern times. 2. The dominant colors of Korean Danchung are red and green as 'Sang-nok Ha-dan(上綠下丹)', but Japanese's is only red as 'Bak-gan Juk-sun(白間赤線)' 3. Korean Danchung expresses and accentuates the important structural elements in three dimensions, on the other hand japanese Danchung takes two dimensional decoration on the unstructural elements 4. When seen in general, in Korean Danchung colors and their light and shade are simple and patternized. In the meantime, Japanese Danchung has many configurational expressions in general and is closed to paintings or picture.

내용 기반 영상 검색을 위한 에지 기반의 공간 기술자 (Edge-based spatial descriptor for content-based Image retrieval)

  • 오늘날 급격한 멀티미디어 정보의 증가에 따라 영상에서의 시각적 특성을 이용하여 멀티미디어 데이터를 검색하는 내용 기반 영상 검색 기법에 대한 관심이 크게 늘어나고 있다. 본 논문에서는 효과적인 영상 검색을 위한 새로운 접근으로서 edge correlogram과 color coherence vector를 이용한 에지 기반의 공간 기술자를 제안한다. 우선 color vector angle기법을 이용하여 주어진 영상을 고주파 성분과 저주파 성분의 영상으로 나눈다. 저주파 성분의 영상에서는 color coherence vector를 이용하여 평탄 화소의 공간적인 색상 분포를 추출함으로써 이를 평탄 영역에서의 특징 정보로서 활용한다. 반면, 고주파 성분의 영상에서는 edge correlogram으로부터 에지 화소들 간의 분포를 추출하여 이를 에지 영역에서의 특징 정보로 이용한다. 제안된 방법은 색상 간의 지엽적인 특성과 전체적인 특성을 모두 가지고 있기 때문에, 영상 간의 비교에 있어서 영상의 모양과 크기의 급격한 변화로 인한 오검출 등에 매우 강건하다. 또한, 영상에서의 구조적인 특징을 이용함으로써 복잡한 영상에 대해서도 간단하고 유연한 특징을 제공한다. 실험 결과는 영상 색인 및 검색에 있어서 제안된 알고리즘이 최근의 여러 히스토그램 정밀화 기법에 비하여 더 효과적임을 보여준다. 데이터베이스 내 영상의 색인을 위해서는 R*-tree 구조를 이용하였다.

친환경 재료를 사용한 흑색 지르코니아 세라믹스 제조 (Manufacture of Black Color Zirconia Ceramics Used by Eco-Friendly Materials)

  • The goal of this investigation was to produce a zirconia-family black ceramics that has enhanced functionality and reliability. Color zirconia ceramics have been produced by adding pigments. Pigments cause structural defects within zirconia and result in a drop in physical properties. Using environmentally friendly rice husk, we produced a black zirconia that is free of structural defects. In optimal firing conditions for black zirconia the calcining temperatures of the molding product are changed from $400^{\circ}C$ to $1200^{\circ}C$, and the firing temperatures are changed from $1400^{\circ}C$ to $1600^{\circ}C$. Color of testing the specimens was analyzed using Ultraviolet (UV) spectroscopy. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), EDAX (EDX), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analyses were carried out in order to examine impregnation properties and crystal phases. Universial Test Machine (UTM) was used to measure the flexual strength as well as the compressive strength. From experimental results, it was found that in optimal firing conditions the sample was calcined from $1000^{\circ}C$ to $1500^{\circ}C$. Commission internationalde I'Edairage (CIE) values of manufactured black zirconia color were $L^*$ = 29.73, $a^*$ = 0.23, $b^*$ = -2.68. The bending strength was 918 MPa and the compressive strength was 2676 MPa. These strength values are similar to typical strength values of zirconia, which confirms that carbon impregnation did not influence physical properties.

Blind Image Quality Assessment on Gaussian Blur Images

  • Multimedia is a ubiquitous and indispensable part of our daily life and learning such as audio, image, and video. Objective and subjective quality evaluations play an important role in various multimedia applications. Blind image quality assessment (BIQA) is used to indicate the perceptual quality of a distorted image, while its reference image is not considered and used. Blur is one of the common image distortions. In this paper, we propose a novel BIQA index for Gaussian blur distortion based on the fact that images with different blur degree will have different changes through the same blur. We describe this discrimination from three aspects: color, edge, and structure. For color, we adopt color histogram; for edge, we use edge intensity map, and saliency map is used as the weighting function to be consistent with human visual system (HVS); for structure, we use structure tensor and structural similarity (SSIM) index. Numerous experiments based on four benchmark databases show that our proposed index is highly consistent with the subjective quality assessment.

육류 기피에 미치는 동물에 대한 도덕관념, 질감, 색깔과 포만감의 영향 평가 (Assessing the Effect of Moral Concerns for Animals, Texture, Color and Satiety on Meat Avoidance)

  • The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of moral concerns for animals, meat texture, color in meat and satiety from meat on meat avoidance, and to assess the effect of meat avoidance on meat consumption. A total of 250 questionnaires were completed. Structural equation model was used to measure the causal effects of constructs. Results of the study demonstrated that fit of the restricted model is significantly worse than that of the unrestricted model, in which more parameters are estimated. The effects of moral concerns for animals, meat texture, and satiety from meat on meat avoidance were statistically significant. The effect of meat avoidance on meat consumption was statistically significant. Moreover, meat avoidance played a mediating role in the relationship between moral concerns for animals and meat consumption. Meat avoidance also played a mediating role in the relationship between satiety from meat and meat consumption. This study suggested that the consumer decision-making process for meat products is best modeled as a complex system that incorporates both direct and indirect effects on meat consumption. This study believed the evidence presented supports this position. Moreover, this study appeared to be a worthy area of pursuit.

  • COMS(Communication, Ocean, and Meteorological Satellite) is the geostationary satellite for the mission of satellite communication, ocean monitoring, and meteorological service. It is scheduled to be launched at the end of 2008. Ocean payload of COMS named as GOCI(Geostationary Ocean Color Imager) observes ocean color and derives the chlorophyll concentrlition, the concentration of dissolved organic material and so on. In operational oceanography, satellite derived data products are used to provide forecasting and now casting of the ocean and coastal water state. In this work, conceptual design of structural part of GOCI is carried out and two baseline concepts are proposed. The one is dioptric module that uses lens system and the other is TMA(Three Mirror Anastigmat) module that uses mirror system. Trade-off studies between two concepts are investigated by considering optical and mechanical performances. Finally, on-going tasks and future development plan are briefly discussed.

  • The structural and electrical properties of microcrystalline silicon films were investigated by hot wire chemical vapor deposition(HWCVD) often called catalytic chemical vapor deposition(Cat-CVD). The Si microcrystalline phase is easily controlled by changing the rate of the silane concentration of $SiH_4$ to $H_2$ during deposition. The Structural property was observed by Raman and SEM. Photo-conductivity and dark conductivity, and photo-sensitivity were observed by Sunsimulator (AM 1.5 illumination). The film color was changed by the variation of silane concentration. HWCVD is useful for the formation of Si thin films for solar cell and needs further commercialized development for mass production.

섬유소재를 이용한 한국적 이미지의 문화상품 디자인개발 (A Cultural Product Design Development of Korean Image by the Use of Fabric Materials)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a cultural products design of korean image using fabrics. The study is carry out in literature research methods and make sample product. We examine existing researches about cultural product design development to understand developed items, materials, and design directions. The brainstorming method and the established literature researches were used to obtain the design components of Korean image. A cultural products design was developed into the decorative structural details. The results can be summarized as follows: Korean image is pure, passive, gentle, small, and lasting life-force at weeds and wild flowers. Korean form is rounded curve and soft silhouette as streamy, not exaggerate. Korean color is not a finishing treatment, non-dyed natural color, or pastel, light greyish, and dull tone. Korean textile is a natural materials as linen, ramie, and coarse silk. Final sample products are table supplies, home goods and bed goods applying the sewing method of tuck, quilting, top-stitching, patch work, applique and embroidery.
