The Effect of Roll Arrangement in the Cold Rolling Mill on the Wear (냉간 압연기용 롤의 배열이 마멸에 미치는 영향)

  • Work roll wear in the cold rolling of mild steel strip is strongly affected by rolling materials, rolling conditions such as roll arrangement in the cold rolling mill and lubrication. The tests were performed to find the effects of roll arrangement n the cold rolling mill on the work roll wear under the same lubricating conditions. The obtained results are as follows:If the distance of cold rolling is about 60km, the surface roughness of its was reduced by half(Ra 0.49${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) and Pc(peak count) also was decreased to 60 ea/cm.It is easier for CC(Continuous casting) to make a slip on rolling than IC(Ingot casting). It is due to surface mirror in which first residual product appears and iron powder included Al2O3 is sticked. Because bending degree of 4Hi-rolling mill is higher than 6Hi-rolling mill, the first surface mirror was occurred to its center-point which is loaded strongly. 6Hi-rolling mill shape-controlled by intermediate roll doesn't need the initial crown to work roll. Therefore, fatigue and wear would appear a little bit.

  • 최근 환경과 에너지에 대한 관심이 증대됨에 따라 차체의 경량화를 위한 고합금계 알루미늄 합금의 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 특히 5000계 알루미늄 합금은 비중이 낮을 뿐만 아니라 Mg의 첨가에 의해 높은 강도 및 성형성을 얻을 수 있기 때문에 자동차용 판재로 많은 주목을 받고 있다. 현재 사용되는 대부분의 알루미늄 합금판재는 DC주조법과 추가적인 압연공정으로 제조되기 때문에 경제성 문제와 낮은 냉각속도로 인한 금속학적인 문제를 갖는다. 그러나 DC주조법과는 달리 쌍롤 박판주조법은 용탕으로부터 직접 판재를 제조하기 때문에 경제적이며 효율적인 주조공정이다. 또한 냉각속도가 빠르기 때문에 비교적 주조편석이 적고 전반적인 미세조직이 균일하여 고합금계 알루미늄 합금 판재제조에 매우 유용하게 응용될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 쌍롤 박판주조법으로 고합금계 알루미늄 합금 판재를제조하고, 제조된 합금의 열간압연 및 열처리 조건에 따른 기계적 특성을 비교 및 평가하였다. 또한 미세조직 및 집합조직을 분석함으로써 고합금계 알루미늄 합금 판재의 실용화 가능성을 평가하였다.

Simi-solid 재료의 직접압연 공정해석

  • A computer program has been developed for analyzing the two-dimensional unsteady conservation equations for transport phenomena in the ool region of direct rolling with semi-solid metal in order to describe the velocity and temperature, and the solidification process of the semi-solid metal. The energy equations of cooling roll is solved simultaneously with semi-solid metal in order consider heat transfer through the cooling roll. The FDM(finite difference method) and FEM(finite element method) are used in region of pool and roll, respsctively, to reduce computing time and to improve accuracy of calculation. In the present study, influence of solid fraction and casting speed are investigated in a point of view of strip formability with semi-solid metal.

  • 최근 자동차용 강판을 대체하기 위한 재료로서 알루미늄 합금에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 알루미늄 합금은 철강 재료에 비해 비강도가 높으며 재활용이 용이하고 내식성이 뛰어난 활용 가치가 높은 소재이다. 하지만 기존의 강판을 알루미늄 합금으로 대체하기 위해서는 높은 경제성, 강도 및 성형성이 요구되고 있는 현실이다. 따라서 고강도 알루미늄 합금 판재를 경제적으로 제조하기 위한 제조 공정기술 및 후가공 기술의 개발이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 쌍롤 박판주조법에 비대칭 노즐을 이용하여 높은 주조 속도를 유지하면서도 중심 편석 및 열간 균열을 완화시켜 첨가되는 용질 원소의 양을 증가시켰다. 제조한 다양한 조성을 가진 알루미늄 합금 판재의 후속 압연성, 기계적 특성 및 성형성을 평가하기 위하여 미세조직 및 집합조직을 분석하였으며 이에 따른 실용화 가능성을 평가하였다.

  • 가공용 마그네슘합금 중간재를 저비용으로 제조하는 공정기술의 하나인 수평연속주공정을 통해 판재 및 빌렛을 제조하는 공정에 대한 연구결과를 소개하고자 한다. 수평연속주조공정은 기존의 반연속주조공정에 비해 저비용 공정이며, 실용화 초기단계에 있는 제조공정인 strip casting으로는 제조가 불가능한 고합금계의 마그네슘 중간재를 제조할 수 있는 공정기술이다. 또한 연속주조한 빌렛의 압출공정에서 압출속도를 향상시킴으로써 미세조직을 제어하고 제조 비용을 절감하기 위한 연구로서 고속압출용 신합금 설계기술과 압출공정제어에 대한 연구결과를 소개하고자 한다.

Recent Trend in Hot Rolling Technology of Steels (강판 열간압연의 기술개발 동향)

  • The recent technical trend in hot rolling of steel can be described as process and product technologies which have been progressed with modern mill equipment and computers. Precise gauge and width control can be achieved by up-to-date control methods such as AGC and AWC systems. Roll benders and various shape control systems enabled high quality flatness and crown control. Mills can produce higher tensile materials by new process based on process metallurgy. The use of high speed steel rolls and on line roll grinders make the schedule free rolling easier which results in cost saving. Process itself goes toward continuous and simple flow type which has lower operation. Endless rolling and strip casting are examples of the trend. Materials with higher tensile strength and various functions have been developed in last years to meet the customer's needs and this trend will continue.

  • In this study, the sintering behavior of (Nd, Dy)-Fe-B powder which fabricated by strip-casting was investigated with various sintering temperatures and holding times. The relative density over 99% could be obtained by both sintering at $1070^{\circ}C$ for 1h and sintering at $970^{\circ}C$ for 20h. The grain growth was observed in sintered specimen at $1050^{\circ}C$ compared to one at $970^{\circ}C$. The isothermal sintering process below $1000^{\circ}C$ led to suppress grain growth showing the improved magnetic properties. The phase transformation of Nd-rich was confirmed by X-ray diffraction pattern.

  • This study aims at the phase-field modeling of the phase transformation in graphitization of the cast iron. As the first step, we constructed a phase-field model including the phases with negligible solubility. Under the dilute regular solution approximation, a simplified version of the phase-field model was obtained, which can be used for the phase transformation related with the stoichiometric phases. The results from the numerical calculation of the phase-field model was in good agreement with the exact analytic solution. The compositional shift due to Gibbs-Thomson effect can be reproduced within 0.5% error in the numerical calculation. The interface velocity, whereas, in numerical calculation of phase-field model appeared to be 15% larger than that from the analytic solution. This error is due to the shift of the interface position in phase-field model from the position with ${\phi}=0.5$.

  • A new axial pressing method using pulse magnetizing field was studied to improve the remanence of Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets. In order to make near-net shape green compacts of butterfly, disk, or coin magnets, conventional axial-type pressing has been normally used. However, compared to the transverse-type pressing, it is not possible to obtain higher remanence by this method because the magnetic alignment of powder begins to deteriorate when the density of green compacts increases over a critical value. On the other hand, we found that an axial pressing under pulse magnetizing field was very effective to increase the degree of magnetic alignment of powder, yielding remanences even higher than those obtained by the transverse pressing. In this study, it was revealed that appropriate tapping density and how to apply pulse magnetic held were important to improve the grain alignment and thus remanence of Nd-Fe-B sintered magnet.

A model of fatigue crack growth based on plastic stretch at the crack tip (균열선단의 소성스트레치를 이용한 피로균열성장모델)

  • The fatigue crack growth model is derived and the retardation model is proposed. The fatigue crack growth model considers the residual plastic stretch on the crack surface which results from the plastic deformation at the tip of fatigue crack. The fatigue crack growth rate is calculated by using the cumulative fatigue damage and plastic strain energy in the material elements at the crack tip. This model gives the crack growth rate in reasonable agreement with test data for aluminum alloy AL6061-T651 and 17-4PH casting steel. The fatigue crack growth retardation model is based on the residual plastic stretch produced from a tensile overload which reduced the plastic strain range of the following load cycles. A strip-yield model of a crack tip plasticity is used for the calculation of a plastic zone size. The proposed retardation model characterized the observed features and delayed retardation of the fatigue crack growth under tensile overload.
