  • This paper presents a buck circuit topology of high-frequency with a single switching element. It solved the problem which arised from hard-switching in high-frequency using a resonant snubber and operating under the principle of ZCS turn-on and ZVS turn-off commutation schemes. In the existing circuit, it has the voltage stress which is twice of input voltage in free-wheeling diode. But in the proposed circuit, it has voltage stress which is lower than input voltage with modifing a location of free-wheeling diode. In this paper, it explained the circuit operation of each mode and confirmed the waveform of each mode with simulation result. Also the experiment result verified the simulation waveform and compared the existing voltage stress of free-wheeling diode with the proposed voltage stress of that. Moreover, it compares and analyzes the proposed circuit's efficiency with the hard-switching circuit's efficiency according to the change of load current.

  • Acoustic emission (AE) is one of the promising methods for detecting the formation of stress corrosion cracks (SCCs) in laboratory tests. This method has the advantage of online inspection. Some studies have been conducted to investigate the characteristics of AE parameters during SCC propagation. However, it is difficult to classify the distinct features of SCC behavior. Because the previous studies were performed on slow strain rate test or compact tension specimens, it is difficult to make certain correlations between AE signals and actual SCC behavior in real tube-type specimens. In this study, the specimen was a AISI 304 stainless steel tube widely applied in the nuclear industry, and an accelerated test was conducted at high temperature and pressure with a corrosive environmental condition. The study result indicated that intense AE signals were mainly detected in the elastic deformation region, and a good correlation was observed between AE activity and crack growth. By contrast, the behavior of accumulated counts was divided into four regions. According to the waveform analysis, a specific waveform pattern was observed during SCC development. It is suggested that AE can be used to detect and monitor SCC initiation and propagation in actual tubes.

It solved the problem which arised from hard-switching in high-frequency using a resonant snubber and operating under the principle of ZCS turn-on and ZVS turn-off commutation schemes. In the existing circuit, it has the voltage stress that is almost twice of input voltage in a free-wheeling diode. In the proposed circuit, it has the voltage stress that is lower than input voltage with modifing a location of free -wheeling diode. In this paper, it expained the circuit operation of each mode and analyzed feedback-loop stabilization. Also it confirmed the waveform of each mode with simulation result. • It was necessary to devise new techniques to overcome and enhance the resolution limits of traveltime tomography. Waveform inversion has been one of the methods for giving very high resolution result. High resolution image could be acquired because waveform inversion used not only phase but amplitude. But waveform inversion was much time consuming Job because forward and backward modeling was needed at each iteration step. Velocity-stress method was used for effective modeling. Resolution limits of imaging methods such as travel time inversion, acoustic and elastic waveform inversion were investigated with numerical models. it was investigated that Resolution limit of waveform inversion was similar tn resolution limit of migration derived by Schuster. Horizontal resolution limit could be improved with increased coverage by adding VSP data in cross hole that had insufficient coverage. Also, waveform inversion was applied to realistic models to evaluate applicability and using initial guess of travel time tomograms to reduce non-linearity of waveform inversion showed that the better reconstructed image could be acquired.

  • The source parameters of four earthquakes with magnitude larger than 4.0 nearby the offshore Sinan are analyzed. The waveform inversion method is used for analyzing the source parameters of two events (20 August 2012 and 21 April 2013) with C&B and AK135-c crustal velocity structure models. The source parameters of the other two events (26 July 1994 and 23 March 2003) are obtained from references. Focal mechanisms of the events are strike slip faulting or strike slip faulting with a thrust component. The directions of P-axes of the events are ENE-WSW or NE-SW which are similar to previous studies on P-axes in and around the Korean peninsula. With regard to the events nearby the offshore Sinan, the regional stress, rather than being local stress, is seen to be the result of the combination of tectonic forces from the compression of plates colliding to the Eurasian Plate.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate fatigue life and fatigue crack propagation behavior The experiment of fatigue life for MMC have been carried out for the stress ratio R=0.1 at 20Hz. Fatigue lift limit of AC4CH alloy is about 70 ㎫ and Fatigue limit of MMC has been increment to 120 ㎫, therefore, fatigue limits of MMC is about 71 % higher than that of AC4CH alloy Crack propagation tests on half-size CT specimen of thickness 12.5mm were conducted by using sinusoidal waveform. The crack length was monitored by compliance method. Test conditions were at 0.1 and 0.05 of load ratio at 10Hz of loading frequency and test load was 2.3kN. The effects of stress ratio on the fatigue crack propagation behavior for MMC was discussed within the Paris law. As the results of this study, Fatigue crack propagation increased with increasing the load ratio.

  • Thermal spray coating is formed by a process in which melted particles flying with high speed towards substrate, then crash and spread on the substrate surface cooled and solidified in a very short time, Stacking of the particles makes coating. In this study, the exfoliation of $Al_2$O$_3$ and Ni-4.5wt.%Al thermally sprayed coating which were deposited by an atmospheric plasma spray apparatus are investigated using an AE method. A tensile test is conducted on notch specimens in a stress range below the elastic limit of substrate. The wave forms of AE generated from the three coating specimens can be classified by FFT analysis into two types which low frequency(type I waveform is considered to corresponds exfoliation of coating layers and type II waveform corresponds the plastic deformation of notch tip or the resultant fracture of coating. The fracture of the coating layers can estimate by AE event and amplitude, because AE features increase when the deformation generates.

  • In this study, various damage modes in bending unimorph piezoelectric composite actuators with a thin sandwiched PZT plate during bending fracture tests have been evaluated by monitoring acoustic emission (AE) signals in terms of waveform and peak frequency as well as AE parameters. Three kinds of actuator specimens consisting of woven fabric fiber skin layers and a PZT ceramic core layer are loaded with a roller and an AE activity from the specimen is monitored during the entire loading using an AE transducer mounted on the specimen. AE characteristics from a monolithic PZT ceramic with a thickness of $250{\mu}m$ are examined first in order to distinguish different AE signals from various possible damage modes in piezoelectric composite actuators. Post-failure observations and stress analyses in the respective layers of the specimens are conducted to identify particular features in the acoustic emission signal that correspond to specific types of damage modes. As a result, the signal classification based on waveform and peak frequency analyses successfully describes the failure process of the bending piezoelectric composite actuator exhibiting diverse failure mechanisms. Furthermore, it is elucidated that when the PZT ceramic embedded actuators are loaded mechanical bending loads, the failure process of actuator specimens with different lay-up configurations is almost same irrespective of their lay-up configurations.

  • The loading condition of actual construction works is complex. The shear effect of mixed-mode load component are crack propagation mechanism in step larger than the crack initial mechanism. Therefore, in this study received a mixed-mode loading on fatigue crack stress ratio on crack propagation path and speed of progress to learn whether stress affects crack propagation. ${\Delta}$ P a constant state of fatigue tests in Mode I, II give the same stress ratio, frequency 10Hz, sinusoidal waveform was used. A lower stress ratio fatigue crack propagation angle is small. This is less affected by the Mode II. Therefore, a mixed-mode fatigue crack propagation is to progress by the Mode. Stress ratio in a mixed mode crack in the path of progress and found a lot of impact.
