  • This paper identifies these data by the data diagnosis in lognormal distribution and presents the method to obtain exact parameter estimates and confidence intervals of regression line. The life-stress relationship uses Arrhenius model and life data generate Class-H insulation complete data by simulation. Also, the method to estimate parameters uses least squares estimation and externally Studentized residuals can be used as test statistics for identifing outliers. And influential cases are identified by Cook's distance. This research is intended to obtain the useful information for the life of products and test method, to save time and costs, and to help optimum accelerated life test plans.

  • This paper presents the numerical estimation of the fatigue life for the welded parts of the engine frame box of the S60MC-C vessel engine. The time-variations of the effective stresses at the critical points during a piston cycle are computed through the finite element analysis, by applying the dynamic loadings that were analytically derived by the kinematic analysis. The fatigue life of the welded parts is estimated by making use of the hot-spot stress extrapolation and the Palmgrem-Minor cumulative damage rule.

  • The filling phase analysis of the injection molding process for thermoplastics was applied to predict pressure, themperature and shear stress in the test mold, and the results were compared with the experiment using 30% glass fiber added ABS resin. The finite difference method was used in the analysis considering the effects of heat transfer between molten polymer and mold wall, and also frictional heating by shear flow. The analysis results were considered as a method to improve the quality and the productivity of injection molding process. Using the analysis results, the molding factors such as mold-ability of polymers, performance of injection molding machine, positioning of gate and dimendsioning of runner in the injection molding process can be estimated at the design stage of mold for good quality and productivity.

  • Rough surfaces are taking into account to estimate the contact fatigue life. A computational methodology and the theoretical basis in this case is presented in this paper. Displacement solution technique by Cho and Love is applied to calculate the stress history beneath the surface subjected to loading. Mesoscopic multiaxial fatigue criterion is then applied to predict fatigue life. This fatigue criterion yields satisfactory results for non-proportional loading and can satisfactorily describe the physical mechanisms of crack initiation as well. As a result of analysis the relation between the life and the roughness as well as the most probable depth of the crack nucleation is discussed.

  • The effects of small hole defect size and effective case depth(ECD) on the four point bending fatigue limit of induction surface hardened S45C steel were investigated the fatigue limit evaluation of hardened materials is very difficult because of relations of the hardness gradient and residual stress. In this study, it was possible to characterize fatigue limit and fatigue life of induction surface hardened S45C steel in terms of the hole defect size and effective case depth(ECD) and quantitative evaluation of the fatigue limit with hole defects use Murakami's evaluation method and the range of evaluated values is a good accuracy compared with results.

  • Background: Owing to stress of external appearance and bad sleeping by itching, children with atopic dermatitis grow slowly. Object: The purpose of this study is estimation of growth degree on children with atopic dermatitis Method: During I year from 2001 till 2002, it became the object of studing that 45 children with atopic dermatitis and random sample 45 children without atopic dermatitis, without another disease related to growth from 2 years to 10 years in Dep. of Pediatrics, Dongguk university Bundang Oriental Hospital. Result: Height percent of children with atopic dermatitis is more lower than Height percent of children without atopic dermatitis out of considering for the distinction of sex and age. The more atopic dermatitis is severe, the more height percent of children with atopic dermatitis is lower Conclusion: Atopic dermatitis is related to the growth on children.

  • High-speed railway bridges subject to effect of statical loads by temperature change as well as dynamic loads by interaction between vehicle load which run specially fast and behavior of bridges, If suitable longitudinal expansion by temperature change of bridge does not happened, it can cause unhealthy condition for the parts of bridges as well as can generate addition stress to bridges, For these reason, Analysis and Estimation of data about behavior of bridges occupies important factor in that estimate the remaining life of bridges and select the maintenance, repair and retrofit. In this paper, Analysis for the long-term behavior of bridges using Longitudinal displacement and Temperature data that is actuality measured data to the bridges of Seoul-Busan high speed railroad test section has been made.

  • Hydroelastic interactions of a deformable floating body with random waves are investigated in time domain. Both hydroelastic motion and structural dynamics are solved by expansion of elastic modes and Fourier transform for the random waves. A direct and efficient structural analysis in time domain is developed. In particular, an efficient way of obtaining distributive loads for the hydrodynamic integral terms including convolution integral by using Fubini theory is explained. After confirming correctness of respective loading components, calculations of full distributions of loads in random waves are expedited by reformulating all the body loading terms into distributed forms. The method is validated by extensive convergence tests and comparisons against the counterparts of the frequency-domain analysis. Characteristics of motion/deformation responses and stress resultants are investigated through a parametric study with varying bending rigidity and types of random waves. Relative contributions of componential loads are identified. The consequence of elastic-mode resonance is underscored.

  • The incomplete penetration(IP) discontinuity in butt joint weld, which is detected during safety analysis of the steel bridge by nondestructive evaluation(NDE) method, is classified as unacceptable defect according to the NDE codes and standards. In fact, there are a little allowance in butt joint weld in the view point of design criterion, and also detected IP discontinuity should be classified and evaluated for the fatigue strength and residual life estimation. In this study, we performed fatigue test to evaluate the fatigue strength of high strength steel(SWS490A) containing IP discontinuities in various size, the results compared and classified according to the bridge construction standard specification which published by korea administration of construction and traffic. Experimental results could be used to evaluate and estimate the IP discontinuities considering different stress range in butt joint bridge weld during periodic safety inspection.

  • Many workers like welders are working in squat sitting postures with te object on the ground for an entire work shift. It is suspected that such prolonged squat sitting without any supporting stool would gradually cause musculoskeletal injuries to workers. This study is to quantitatively evaluate the physical stress caused by the prolonged squat sitting and to recommend a safe work/rest schedule for the task with squat sitting posture based on the lab experiment. In this study, 8 healthy student subjects participated in the experiment. They maintained a squat sitting posture for 16 minutes with 4 different stool height conditions: no stool, 10cm hight, 15cm height, 20cm height. Every 2 minutes, the discomfort was subjectively assessed using the magnitude estimation method for the whole body, lower back, upper leg and lower leg. Based on discomfort rating, we found that 10cm height stool relieved the workload most. Discomfort rating results also indicated that 20cm height stool showed the heghest workload, and that there was no difference in workload between 15cm height and no stool. We recommend to provide the workers with 10cm height stool for prolonged squat sitting tasks.
