배관부 부식 및 결함 평가를 위한 레이저 유도 초음파 적용 기술 (Application of Laser-based Ultrasonic Technique for Evaluation of Corrosion and Defects in Pipeline)

  • 원자력 발전소의 많은 배관부는 고온, 고압환경에서 적용되고 있어 환경적 및 기계적 요인에 의하여 부식결함이 빈번히 발생하고 있다. 이와 같은 부식 결함은 초음파 기법 등에 의하여 평가되어야 하고, 본 연구에서는 주사형 레이저 유도 초음파(SLS) 기법을 도입하여 배관부 부식결함의 영상화 기법을 적용하였다. 본 기법은 표면이 거칠거나 배관재와 같은 곡면의 표면에서 적용할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 한편 기존의 주사형 초음파 기법은 초음파 센서와 검사대상체 사이의 초음파 전달 매개체를 확보하기 위하여 시험편이 수침되거나 워터젯을 이용하였으나 주사형 레이저 초음파 기법은 광학적 기법을 이용하여 초음파를 발생시키므로 비접촉 방법에 의한 주사 이미지 획득이 가능하다. 따라서 본 주사형 레이저 초음파 기법은 복잡한 구조물의 검사, 비접촉 원격 및 고화질의 결함 이미지 탐상이 가능하다. 본 연구에서는 배관 결함의 검출능 향상을 위하여 결함 영상 획득에 있어서 다양한 조건의 레이저 유도 초음파 발생 기법을 적용하였고, 배관에 존재하는 응력부식 균열의 결함 영상을 얻게 되었다.

  • Many concrete bridge decks develop transverse cracking shortly after construction. These cracks accelerate corrosion of reinforcing steel and lead to concrete deterioration, damage to components beneath the deck, unsightly appearance. These cracks shorten the service life and increase maintenance costs of bridge structures. In this study, VES-LMC overlay, which provides the same benefits as a conventional overlay, is designed to cure very quickly. Although the materials for VES overlays are more expensive, the cost is more than offset by the savings on traffic control and work zone safety measures. Otherwise, reaction of hydration occurs very rapidly in beginning step(concrete placing). As a results, thermal cracking can be occur by thermal stress in accordance with hydration-heat The purpose of this study was to estimate diagnosis of crack occurrence of VES-LMC through field tests at early-age.

주조 오스테나이트 스테인리스강 상경계 균열부 산화물 분석 (Analysis of Oxide Layers in Phase Boundary Crack of Cast Austenitic Stainless Steel)

  • For the phase boundary crack found in the gasket made of cast austenitic stainless steel in the nuclear power plant, the oxide layers were analyzed through SEM and TEM. The results showed that cracks initiated and propagated along the austenite/δ-ferrite phase boundary, the propagation path was changed to penetrate the inside of the phase. The oxide layer located at the periphery of the crack along the phase boundary was identified as a complex multi-layered spinel structure, and Cr-rich carbides were also detected in the oxide. The cracks that propagated inside the austenite matrix were attributed to the presence of high external stresses and impurities.

  • The aim of this study is to consider the effect hydrogen on dezincification behavior of Cu-Zn alloys. The investigations include microstructural observations with scanning electron microscope and chemical composition analysis with energy dispersive spectrometer. The dezincification layer was found to occur in high pressure hydrogen atmosphere, not in air atmosphere. In addition, the layers penetrated into the inner side along the grain boundaries in the case of hydrogen condition. The shape of the dezincification layers was porous because of Zn dissolution from the ${\alpha}$ or ${\beta}$ phase. In the case of stress corrosion cracks formed in the Cu-Zn microstructure, the dezincification phenomenon with porous voids was also accompanied by grain boundary cracking.

  • The objective of this study was to perform failure analysis of an inlet pipe located in a governor valve of a steam turbine in a district heating system. During the operation, the temperature of the governor valve was increased to as high as ~500 ℃, which induced thermal expansion of the inlet pipe along both axial and radial directions. While the inlet pipe did not have contact with the valve seat, the side plane of the upside was constrained by the casing part, which led the inlet pipe to experience stress field in the form of fatigue and creep. The primary crack was initiated at about 30 mm below the top where the complex stress field was anticipated. These results suggest that the main failure mechanism is a combination of thermal fatigue and creep during the operation supported by the observation of apparent beach marks on the fracture surface and pores near the cracks, respectively.

  • 선박, 해양구조물 또는 해상풍력 발전설비 하부구조와 같이 해양환경에서 사용되는 강구조물은 부식이 쉽게 발생한다. 본 연구에서는 실험을 통하여 희생전극으로 많이 사용되는 아연전극의 방식전위와 동등한 -1050mV vs. SCE에서 환경하중에 기인하는 부식피로균열 진전특성에 대하여 고찰하였다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 -1050mV vs. SCE의 음극방식이 해수환경중의 피로균열 진전에 미치는 영향에 대해 합성해수중에서 파랑주기를 고려하여 실험적 고찰을 실시하였다. 음극방식에 의한 방식법은 부식을 차단하지만 과도한 방식은 화학반응에 의하여 수소를 발생시키며, 또한 석회질퇴적물을 발생시킨다. 피로균열진전율은 실험초기에는 해수부식환경하에서의 진전율보다 빠른구간이 나타났다. 그리고 균열길이가 증가하여 응력확대계수 K가 커질수록 균열의 진전율은 해수중의 피로균열진전율보다 느려지는 현상이 나타났다. 그러나 대기중의 균열진전속도보다는 항상 빠른 진전속도를 나타내었다.

Reliability of Maintained Hull Girders of Two Bulk Carrier Designs Subjected to Fatigue and Corrosion

  • The objective of the paper is to study the impact of changing the traditional hull design of bulk carriers by providing them with a double hull while keeping the same deadweight. It is demonstrated that by introducing the double hull the structural reliability is increased throughout the entire life and also the extend of the needed repair is reduced. The results are obtained with recently developed mathematical tools for the reliability assessment of ship hulls subjected to the existence of multiple cracks both in the stiffeners and in the plating and it models the crack growth process. The effect of corrosion is represented as time dependent. The long-term stress range acting on the elements is defined as a function of the local transverse pressure of the internal cargo and outside sea water combined with the stresses resulting from the longitudinal bending of the hull, which is a combined with the stresses resulting from the longitudinal bending of the hull, which is a combineation of horizontal and vertical bending moments. The effect of maintenance actions is modelled as a stochastic process. The results show that a different design of the midship section improves the structural safety and also the economy with respect to structural repair of bulk carriers.

  • Al-황동은 기계적 특성 및 열전도성이 우수하고 해수 중에서 표면 보호피막을 형성하므로 부식저항성이 높아 해수를 냉각수로 사용하는 선박용 열교환기의 세관재로 널리 사용되고 있다 Al-황동 세관은 실제 사용 환경에서 굽힘 등에 의한 소성변형된 상태로 사용되는 경우가 많다. 이와 같은 소성변형에 의한 Al-황동 세관의 균열 파손사례는 선박의 오일탱크 내의 가열코일, 각종 열교환기의 세관 등에서 흔히 찾아 볼 수 있다. 또한 세관의 확관에 의한 밀봉 방법에 따라 세관의 변형에 의한 잔류응력 및 어패류 혼입에 의한 해수 유입부의 국부적인 유속증가 등에 기인하여 Al-황동 세관의 균열 및 침식 등의 파손사례가 보고되고있다. 본 연구에서는 $3.5\%$ NaCl. + $0.1\%\;NH_4OH$ 수용액을 시험편 표면에 5 m/s로 액분사하의 가속실험에서 Al-황동 세관의 응력부식균열 거동에 미치는 응력의 영향에 대하여 고찰하였다.

  • Pressure vessels usually consist of main body and pipes which are connected with the main body. And as joining method of such main body and pipes, welding is carried out. After welding, welding residual stresses inevitably occur around welded joints. As residual stresses act harmfully on fatigue strength, corrosion and buckling strength of structure, PWHT is carried out for the purpose of removing the residual stress. But, during PWHT process, 2 ¼Cr-1Mo steels are frequently apt to generate reheat crack. For this reason, it is strongly needed to analyze and examine the mechanical behavior of welded joints before and after PWHT process. So, in this study, welded nozzle parts of pressure vessel where reheat cracks frequently occur are selected for examining the mechanism of crack-occurrence. (Received December 2, 1999)
