  • This study was performed experiment for strengthened bridge decks with isotropic carbon fiber sheets received fatigue loading, and compared with fatigue behavior of unstrengthened bridge decks. By the results, this study was examined effect of increasing strengthened to phase life cycles of bridge deck for fatigue loading and application of the punching shear theory of bridge deck strengthened by carbon fiber sheet.

  • Aluminum alloy matrix composites reinforced with various amounts of SiC particles have been produced by rheo-compocasting followed by hot extrusion. A relatively uniform distribution of SiC particles in the composites was obtained. The amounts of pore and SiC particles cluster were relatively small in the composites. Particle free zones were observed in the hot extruded composites when the amount of SiC particles was less than 20 vol%. However, the width of particle free zone decreases with the increase of SiC particle content. Eutectic Si phase play an important role for improving bonding between SiC particle and matrix. Tensile and yield strength increased with the increase of SiC particle content. the strenthening effect of SiC particle addition was effective even at relatively high temperature of 573 K.

Symptoms of vertigo and dizziness are disequilibrium, nausea, inability of hearing, vomiting, sweating and syncope. 4. Treating of vertigo and dizziness are recovery of vital energy and blood deficiency, strenthening of insufficiency of the liver and kidney, drying of dampness and removing of phlegm.

A numerical study on behavior of CFRP strengthened shear wall with opening

  • Concrete shear walls are one of the major structural lateral resisting systems in buildings. In some cases, due to the change in the occupancy of the structure or functional requirements like architectural and even mechanical ones, openings need to be provided and installed in structural walls after their construction. Providing these openings may significantly influence the structural behavior of the constructed wall. This paper considers the results of a nonlinear finite element analysis of shear walls with opening strengthened by carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) strips with different configurations. Details of bond-slip constitutive model of link elements to simulate the connections of FRP strips to concrete surface is presented. The proposed model in this research has been validated using experimental results available in the literature. The results indicated that the proposed configuration of CFRP strips significantly improved the lateral resistance and deformation capacity of the shear walls with opening.

  • The ginseng Polypeptide (GPP) Isolated from the root of Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer was domonstrated to decrease the levels of blood sugar and hepatic glycogen when injected intravenoilsly to rats at a doses of 50-200 mg/kg without affecting blood total lipid. When mice were injected slibclitaneollsly daily at a dose of 50 and 100 mg/kg for 7 successive days. GPP was also found to decrease blood sligar and hepatic glycogen. In addition, GPP was found to decrease variolls experimental hypergly cemias induced by injection of adrenaline, glilcose and alloxan. GPP exhibited inhibiting effect on the glut rogen enhancement indllced by glucose, but strenthening effect on the glycogen decrease indliced by adrenaline. When the levels of blood total lipid and lilrer glycogen were increased by T alloxan. GPP was shown to inhibit these changes except its lowering blood sugar. The toxicity of GPP is very low, LD50 was found to be 1.62 $\pm$ 0.130 g/kg for iv.

  • Austenitic oxide-dispersion-strengthened (ODS) stainless steel was fabricated using a wet mixing process without a mechanical milling in order to reduce contaminations of impurities during their fabrication process. Solution of yttrium nitrate was dried after a wet mixing with 316L stainless steel powder. Carbon and oxygen contents were effectively reduced by this wet processing. Microstructural analysis showed that coarse yttrium silicates of about 150 nm were formed in austenitic ODS steels with a silicon content of about 0.8 wt%. Wet-processed austenitic ODS steel without silicon showed higher yield strength by the presence of finer oxide of about 20 nm.

  • It is an objective of Shanghai urban development to quickly build Shanghai into one of the international centres of economy, finance and trade. To fulfil the objective, a rational urban general layout and a satisfactory traffic network are needed. As a metropolis with complete urban functions and specified geographical position, Shanghai must develop a perfect citytown system that best suits its composite urban distribution. In planning the central city, the principle of "open and multi-centred" and "optimization of land use" should be taken into consideration. To build a satisfactory urban traffic network, emphasis should be laid upon the construction of deefwater wharf, air-field and inforation centre. In addition, determination should be made to build a high-speed traffic means including high speed railroad and express highway so that a public traffic network is realised on and above ground, and underground. A solution of traffic preblem in Shanghai lies in good understanding of traffic policy and strenthening of strategic management combined with a rational layout of traffic circulation.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide guideline of muscle strengthening exercise for preparing ambulation by presenting suitable ratio of muscle power of agonist & antagonist, and that of concentric & eccentric contraction on behalf of amputee's normal ambulation training and it's strenthening as well. 7 Subjects who have femur amputee for experimental group were able to ambulate naturally without inconvenience and 20 adult subjects of comparison group for comparison were considered to be free from disturbance of ambulation. The method of study was to measure the muscle power of hip pint, was to figure out the ratio of agonist & antagonist, concentric contraction & eccentric contraction, and was to find out mean and standard deviation of each measurement. Every numerical value of comparison was tested by Mann-whitney and comparison group's comparison between left & right value was done with t-test. Results are as followings : 1) Extension force was stronger than flexor force and had no remarkable difference(p<0.05) 2) For normal adults, adduction farce was stronger than abduction force and for amputees, abduction force was stronger while adduction force was the same as the normal without showing remarkable difference(p<0.05) According the result above, I make an assumption that maintaining a proper ratio of muscle power on strengthening exercise for amputee's ambulation training & rehabilitation and finally bring out an improvement of transfer and ambulation.

  • The widespread deterioration of concrete structures has required the development of new and innovative materials and technologies for strengthening and repair. Recently Fiber reinforced polymer(FRP) composites have received widespread attention as materials for the strengthening and repair of the deteriorated concrete structures. This paper presents the results of Fire-performance of RC beams strengthened with FRP-Aluminum composit hollow beams. Test results show that the higher-damaged FRP strengthened RC beams are more vulnerable to the fire and decrease the effect of FRP strenthening.
