A vibrating double-layered nanoscale piezoelectric plate is developed accounting for the flexoelectricity and surface effects. The flexoelectricity is due to the coupling between electrical polarization and strain gradient. Applying Hamilton's principle, the governing equations and related boundary conditions are derived. Assuming suitable approximate functions, the governing equations are numerically solved for simply-supported and clamped boundary conditions. Obtained results indicate that both the flexoelectricity and surface effects possess notable impact on the vibration frequencies of the system. Only flexoelectricity yields a considerable difference between the present model and previous investigations on conventional piezoelectric nanoplates. Generally, a parametric study has been performed to examine the effects of surface elasticity, flexoelectricity, applied electric voltage, interlayer stiffness, geometrical parameters and boundary conditions on vibration frequencies of piezoelectric nanoplates.
The possibility of energy harvesting as well as vibration of a three-layered beam consisting of two piezoelectric layers and one core layer made of nonpiezoelectric material is investigated using nonlocal strain gradient theory. The three-layered nanobeam is resting on an elastic foundation. Hamilton's principle is used to derive governing equations and associated boundary conditions. The generalized differential quadrature method (GDQM) was used to discretize the equations, and the Newmark beta method was used to solve them. The size-dependency of the elastic foundation is considered using two-phase elasticity. The equations, as well as the solution procedure, are validated utilizing some compassion studies. This work can be a basis for future studies on energy harvesting of small scales.
In this article, wave propagation characteristics in magneto-electro-elastic (MEE) nanotube considering shell model is studied in the framework nonlocal theory. To account for the small-scale effects, the Eringen's nonlocal elasticity theory of is applied. Nonlocal governing equations of MEE nanotube have been derived utilizing Hamilton's principle. The results of this investigation have been accredited by comparing them of previous studies. An analytical solution of governing equations is used to obtain phase velocities and wave frequencies. The influences of different parameters, such as different mode, nonlocal parameter, length parameter, geometry, magnetic field and electric field on wave propagation responses of MEE nanotube are expressed in detail.

In this research, the dynamic instability region (DIR) of the sandwich nano-beams are investigated based on nonlocal strain gradient elasticity theory (NSGET) and various higher order shear deformation beam theories (HSDBTs). The sandwich piezoelectric nano-beam is including a homogenous core and face-sheets reinforced with functionally graded (FG) carbon nanotubes (CNTs). In present study, three patterns of CNTs are employed in order to reinforce the top and bottom face-sheets of the beam. In addition, different higher-order shear deformation beam theories such as trigonometric shear deformation beam theory (TSDBT), exponential shear deformation beam theory (ESDBT), hyperbolic shear deformation beam theory (HSDBT), and Aydogdu shear deformation beam theory (ASDBT) are considered to extract the governing equations for different boundary conditions. The beam is subjected to thermal and electrical loads while is resting on Visco-Pasternak foundation. Hamilton principle is used to derive the governing equations of motion based on various shear deformation theories. In order to analysis of the dynamic instability behaviors, the linear governing equations of motion are solved using differential quadrature method (DQM). After verification with validated reference, comprehensive numerical results are presented to investigate the influence of important parameters such as various shear deformation theories, nonlocal parameter, strain gradient parameter, the volume fraction of the CNTs, various distributions of the CNTs, different boundary conditions, dimensionless geometric parameters, Visco-Pasternak foundation parameters, applied voltage and temperature change on the dynamic instability characteristics of sandwich piezoelectric nano-beam.
Rapid advances in the engineering applications can bring further areas to provide the opportunity to manipulate anisotropic structures for direct productivity in design of micro/nano-structures. For the first time, magnetic affected wave characteristics of nanosize plates made of anisotropic material is investigated via the three-dimensional bi-Helmholtz nonlocal strain gradient theory. Three small scale parameters are used to predict the size-dependent behavior of the nanoplates more accurately. After owing governing equations of wave motion, an analytical approach based harmonic series is utilized to fine the wave frequency as well as phase velocity. It is observed that the small scale parameters, magnetic field and wave number have considerable influence on the wave characteristics of anisotropic nanoplates. Due to the lack of any study on the mechanics of three-dimensional bi-Helmholtz gradient plates made of anisotropic materials, it is hoped that the present exact model may be used as a benchmark for future works of such nanostructures.

This research deals with thermo-electro-mechanical buckling analysis of the sandwich nano-beams with face-sheets made of functionally graded carbon nano-tubes reinforcement composite (FG-CNTRC) based on the nonlocal strain gradient elasticity theory (NSGET) considering various higher-order shear deformation beam theories (HSDBT). The sandwich nano-beam with FG-CNTRC face-sheets is subjected to thermal and electrical loads while is resting on Pasternak's foundation. It is assumed that the material properties of the face-sheets change continuously along the thickness direction according to different patterns for CNTs distribution. In order to include coupling of strain and electrical field in equation of motion, the nonlocal non-classical nano-beam model contains piezoelectric effect. The governing equations of motion are derived using Hamilton principle based on HSDBTs and NSGET. The differential quadrature method (DQM) is used to calculate the mechanical buckling loads of sandwich nano-beam as well as critical voltage and temperature rising. After verification with validated reference, comprehensive numerical results are presented to investigate the influence of important parameters such as various HSDBTs, length scale parameter (strain gradient parameter), the nonlocal parameter, the CNTs volume fraction, Pasternak's foundation coefficients, various boundary conditions, the CNTs efficiency parameter and geometric dimensions on the buckling behaviors of FG sandwich nano-beam. The numerical results indicate that, the amounts of the mechanical critical load calculated by PSDBT and TSDBT approximately have same values as well as ESDBT and ASDBT. Also, it is worthy noted that buckling load calculated by aforementioned theories is nearly smaller than buckling load estimated by FSDBT. Also, similar aforementioned structure is used to building the nano/micro oscillators.
In this study, free vibration of functionally graded (FG) micro/nanobeams based on nonlocal third-order shear deformation theory and under different boundary conditions is investigated by applying the differential quadrature method. Third-order shear deformation theory can consider the both small-scale effects and quadratic variation of shear strain and hence shear stress along the FG nanobeam thickness. The governing equations are obtained by using the Hamilton's principle, based on third-order shear deformation beam theory. The differential quadrature (DQ) method is used to discretize the model and attain the natural frequencies and mode shapes. The properties of FG micro/nanobeam are assumed to be chanfged along the thickness direction based on the simple power law distribution. The effects of various parameters such as the nonlocal parameter, gradient index, boundary conditions and mode number on the vibration characteristics of FG micro/nanobeams are discussed in detail.
The present paper reports an analytical study of delamination fracture in the Mixed Mode Flexure (MMF) functionally graded beam with considering the material non-linearity. The mechanical behavior of MMF beam is modeled by using a non-linear stress-strain relation. It is assumed that the material is functionally graded along the beam height. Fracture behavior is analyzed by the J-integral approach. Non-linear analytical solution is derived of the J-integral for a delamination located arbitrary along the beam height. The J-integral solution derived is verified by analyzing the strain energy release rate with considering the non-linear material behavior. The effects of material gradient, crack location along the beam height and material non-linearity on the fracture are evaluated. It is found that the J-integral value decreases with increasing the upper crack arm thickness. Concerning the influence of material gradient on the non-linear fracture, the analysis reveals that the J-integral value decreases with increasing the ratio of modulus of elasticity in the lower and upper edge of the beam. It is found also that non-linear material behavior leads to increase of the J-integral value. The present study contributes for the understanding of fracture in functionally graded beams that exhibit material non-linearity.

This paper aimed to investigate the nonclassical size dependent free vibration behavior of regularly squared cutout viscoelastic nanobeams. The nonlocal strain gradient elasticity theory is modified and adopted to incorporate the viscoelasticity effect. The Kelvin Voigt viscoelastic model is adopted to model the linear viscoelastic constitutive response. To explore the influence of shear deformation effect due to cutout, both Euler Bernoulli and Timoshenko beams theories are considered. The Hamilton principle is utilized to derive the dynamic equations of motion incorporating viscoelasticity and size dependent effects. Closed form solutions for the resonant frequencies for both perforated Euler Bernoulli nanobeams (PEBNB) and perforated Timoshenko nanobeams (PTNB) are derived considering different boundary conditions. The developed procedure is verified by comparing the obtained results with the available results in the literature. Parametric studies are conducted to show the influence of the material damping, the perforation, the material and the geometrical parameters as well as the boundary and loading conditions on the dynamic behavior of viscoelastic perforated nanobeams. The proposed procedure and the obtained results are supportive in the analysis and design of perforated viscoelastic NEMS structures.

This article develops a nonclassical size dependent nanoplate model to study the dynamic response of functionally graded carbon nanotube (FGCNT) nanoplates under a moving load. Both nonlocal and microstructure effects are incorporated through the nonlocal strain gradient elasticity theory. To investigate the effect of reinforcement orientation of CNT, four different configurations are studied and analysed. The FGM gradation thorough the thickness direction is simulated using the power law. In the context of the first order shear deformation theory, the dynamic equations of motion and the associated boundary conditions are derived by Hamilton's principle. An analytical solution of the dynamic equations of motion is derived based on the Navier methodology. The proposed model is verified and compared with the available results in the literature and good agreement is found. The numerical results show that the dynamic performance of FGCNT nanoplates could be governed by the reinforcement pattern and volume fraction in addition to the non-classical parameters and the moving load dimensionless parameter. Obtained results are reassuring in design and analysis of nanoplates reinforced with CNTs.
