Many rainfall-runoff model, which is applied discharge calculation for effective water-resource planning and management needs topographic and parameter of basin character. But it is very difficult to apply real a phase. Accordingly in this study filling up these problems. Applying GIS(geographic information system) through environment creating input data or concerning with GIS and rainfall runoff model. We built environment that analyze hydrograph showing discharge variation by time. GIS software for constructing input data is used by ArcView. For analysis of hydrograph in Basin, TOPMODEL applied topographic index. Besides for estimate of appliance to rainfall-runoff model, simple storm event and complex storm event are applied rainfall data which was before.
The SWMM (storm water management model) has been widely used in the world and is a watershed runoff simulation model used for a single event or a continuous simulation of runoff quantity and quality. However, there are many uncertain parameters in the watershed runoff continuous simulation module and the water quality module, which make it difficult to use the SWMM. The purpose of the study is to develop an automatic calibration module of the SWMM not only for watershed runoff continuous simulation, but also water quality simulation. The automatic calibration module was developed by linking the SWMM with the SCE-UA (shuffled complex evolution-University of Arizona) that is a global optimization algorithm. Estimation parameters of the SWMM were selected and search ranges of them were reasonably configured. The module was validated by calibration and verification of the watershed runoff continuous simulation model and the water quality model for the Donghyang Stage Station Basin. The calibration results for watershed runoff continuous simulation model were excellent and those for water quality simulation model were generally satisfactory. The module could be used in various studies and designs for watershed runoff and water quality analyses.

For receiving water quality protection a control systems of urban drainage for CSOs reduction is needed. Examples in combined sewer systems include downstream storage facilities that detain runoff during periods of high flow and allow the detained water to be conveyed by an interceptor sewer to a centralized treatment plant during periods of low flow. The design of such facilities as storm-water detention storage is highly dependant on the temporal variability of storage capacity available as well as the infiltration capacity of soil and recovery of depression storage. For the continuous long-term analysis of urban drainage system this study used analytical probabilistic model based on derived probability distribution theory. As an alternative to the modeling of urban drainage system for planning or screening level analysis of runoff control alternatives, this model has evolved that offers much ease and flexibility in terms of computation while considering long-term meteorology. This study presented rainfall and runoff characteristics of the subject area using analytical probabilistic model. Runoff characteristics manifested the unique characteristics of the subject area with the infiltration capacity of soil and recovery of depression storage and was examined appropriately by sensitivity analysis. This study presented the average annual CSOs, number of CSOs and event mean CSOs for the decision of storage volume.
Litter wastes on highway runoff are gradually being considered one of the major pollutants of concern in protecting the integrity of receiving waters for beneficial use. The California State Water Resources Control Board has identified in their 303(d) list at least 36 water bodies where trash or litter is considered a pollutant of concern. The first TMDL adopted by the Region 4 (Los Angeles area) of the California State Water Quality Control Board was for trash in the Los Angeles River. The first flush characteristic study was developed to obtain first flush water quality and litter data from representative stormwater runoff from standard highway drainage outfalls in the Los Angeles area. Total captured gross pollutants in stormwater runoff were monitored at six Southern California highway sites over two years. The gross pollutants were 90% vegetation and 10% litter. Approximately 50% of the litter was composed of biodegradable materials. The event mean concentrations show an increasing trend with antecedent dry days and a decreasing trend with total runoff volume or total rainfall. Event mean concentrations were ranged 0.0021 to 0.259g/L for wet gross pollutants and 0.0001 to 0.027g/L for wet litters. The first flush phenomenon was evaluated and the impacts of various parameters such as rainfall intensity, drainage area, peak flow rate, and antecedent dry period on litter volume and loading rates were evaluated. First flush phenomenon was generally observed for litter concentrations, but was not apparent with litter mass loading rates. Litter volume and loading rates appear to be directly related to peak storm intensity, antecedent dry days and total flow volume.

One of the alternative runoff management measures is on-site runoff mitigation, such as rainwater retention tank and infiltration facilities especially the latter that is possible to manage simultaneously runoff quality and quantity as a perspective of water-cycle. This study was conducted to develop a particle separator, inclined-pipe settling system, that could improve particle removal efficiency of road runoff as a pre-treatment device of stormwater infiltration. Solid particles larger than $100{\mu}m$ are separated by simple sedimentation; however, the significant amount of pollutants with a diameter less than $100{\mu}m$ remain in suspension. Without any treatment in that case of the runoff into infiltrate, groundwater would be deteriorated and also infiltration rate would be decreased by clogging. Therefore, we suggest optimal design parameters (inclined angle, pipe length, and surface loading rate) of inclined-pipe settling system which can be designed to effectively remove particles diameter smaller then $70{\mu}m$. Thus, the results showed TSS removal efficiency more than 80% with a particle diameter between $20{\mu}m$ and $70{\mu}m$, 100% above particle diameter $70{\mu}m$ for the inflow rate $0.018 m^3/m^2{\cdot}hr$ with pipe inclined at angle $15^{\circ}$.

We study the characteristic and total flux of non-point pollutants such as total suspended solids (TSS), chemical oxygen demand (COD), dissolved nutrients, total phosphorus (TP) and total nitrogen (TN) in the storm water runoff from urban streams and sewer outlets of Banweol Industrial Complex around Shihwa Lake. The concentrations of non-point pollutants were generally increased with increasing of the duration and intensity of rainfall. Mean TSS concentration of Ansan stream was higher than that of sewer outlets but mean concentrations of COD, TP and TN were approximately 2~5 times higher of sewer outlet than of urban stream. TSS showed statistically positive relationships with COD and TP but it had negative correlation with dissolved nutrients. There was a significant correlation between total flux of non-point pollutants in the storm water runoff and total basin area of each sewer outlet, showing that the highest runoff flux was observed at 3rd sewer outlet which represents the largest basin area from Banweol industrial complex. Total runoff fluxes for TSS, COD, TP and TN in this study were 187,536 kg, 17,118 kg, 922 kg, 13,519 kg, respectively. Given the basin area of sewer outlet in Banweol industrial complex which corresponds only 3% from total catchment area around Shihwa Lake, enormous amount of non-point pollutants will be entered into Shihwa Lake without any treatment. It is necessary to manage and reduce of various non-point sources and pollutants because the runoff of nonpoint pollutants during storm events should be deteriorating the water quality of Shihwa Lake. Our results provides useful informations on the development of best managements practices (BMPs) for effective implementation of total pollution loads management system of Shihwa Lake.
This study was conducted for two purposes. The first was the selection of the proper model for the urban runoff, and NPS(non-point source) loads and the second was the adjustment of the selected model through the calibration and the verification of the observed data on an urban drainage basin. The selected model for this study was the Storm Water Management Model(SWMM) developed and maintained by the US Environmental Protection Agency(EPA). In particular, the Runoff Block for the surface discharge and the Transport Block for the flow routing was used. The study basin is Youngdu basin, which is a typical developed urban drainage basin. The four rainfall events for the runoff and the two for the four NPS pollutants(SS, BOD, COD and TN) were used for the calibration and the estimation of the model parameters. This study performed the calibration with regard to the peak discharge, the time to peak discharge, the volume and the relative error for three items. It was shown that SWMM can successfully be used for the prediction of the runoff and the NPS pollutants discharge. The result of this study can be used as the basis for the analysis of the correlation between the runoff and the NPS pollutants discharges, and the analysis of the mass balance with the monthly and annual NPS loads in an urban drainage basin.
Recently it revealed that urban runoff was one of the major source that contaminates the river, lake and estuary because it contains toxic compounds such as heavy metals and Poly Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) as well as suspended solids, organic compounds and nutrients. The engineered polymetric media in this research were developed for reducing pollutants in urban runoff and would be used to be charged in the storm water treatment equipment. The engineered media that were composed of the polypropylene was foamed to have the buoyancy and then shattered by mechanical for the efficient filtration. In this study, Spherical Expanded Polypropylene Media (SEPM), Crushed Polypropylene Media (CPM), Large Crushed Expanded Polypropylene Media (LCEPM), Small Crushed Expanded Polypropylene Media (SCEPM) were made from polypropylene. Surface characteristics of the developed media were determined by scanning electron microscopy analyses. Also, removal efficiencies of SS, $COD_{Cr}$ in the artificial road runoff and the bed headloss by media and particle pollutants captured by media were examined. Results on the surface characteristics of media indicated that SCEPM had the largest specific surface area, $0.80m^2/g$, the lowest specific gravity, 0.091, and the biggest porosity, 0.63, because of crushing the media at the process of manufacturing. And the SCEPM's removal efficiencies of TSS and $COD_{Cr}$ in the artificial road runoff were 92.9% and 83.6%, respectively and the headloss of SCEPM was the least of them.
An attempt is made to develope a scheme for synthesizing unit hydrograph for any arbitrary small watershed in the Han or Geum River basin, which can be applied in determining various sizes of design flood for flood control prijects. Stage gauging stations, seven in the Han and five in the Geun River basin with rating curves, were selected as subbasins for the analysis. Unit hydrographs of 2-hour duration were derived for several heavy storm events using the storm and the corresponding flood runoff data for each subbasin. The Clark method programmed by the Hydrologic Engineering Center, U.S. Corps of Engineers, was utilized for derivation of instantaneous unit hydrographs which were, in turn, converted into 2-hour unit hydrograph. By averaging the 2-hour unit hydrographs from several storm events a representative 2-hour unit hydrograph was determined for each subbasin and hence a separate derivation of dimensionless unit hedrograph was also possible for the Han and Geum River basins. The physiographic characteristics such as stream length, distance to the centroid of each watershed were correlated with the characteristic parameters of the derived unit hydrograph for the subbasins within two large basins. correlation analyses between the characteristic parameters were also made. These correlation analyses resulted a series of four equations and a dimensionless unit hydrograph for the two large basins, which made it possible to draw a synthetic 2-hour unitgraph for any small watershed within the Han or Geum River basin. A detailed procedure for aplying the derived method for an arbitrary basin is summarized with one sample computation for each of the two basins. A comparison of the actually derived 2-hour unit hydrogrograph and the synthesized one showed a fair agreement. A recommendation is made for the further study.

Stormwater reduction plays an important role in the safety and resilience to flooding in urban areas. Due to rapid climate change, the world is experiencing abnormal climate phenomena, and sudden floods and concentrated torrential rains are frequently occurring in urban basins and the amount of outflow due to stormwater increases. In addition, the damage caused by urban flooding and inundation due to extreme rainfall exceeding the events that occurred in the past increases. To solve this problem, water supply, drainage, and water supply for sustainable urban development, the water management paradigm is shifting from sewage maintenance to water circulation and water-sensitive cities. So, in this study, The purpose of this study is to examine measures to increase the resilience of urban ecosystem systems for urban excellence reduction by analyzing the effects of green infra structures and LID techniques and evaluating changes in resilience. In this study, for simulating and analysis of runoff for various stormwater patterns and LID applications, Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) was used.
