Mass-balance 및 경제성 분석에 의한 빗물저류시설 적정 규모 산정 (Estimation of Optimum Capacity for Rainwater Storage Facilities based on Mass Balance and Economic Analysis)

  • Recently, rainwater harvesting facilities have increasingly constructed mainly in elementary schools and government buildings. Nevertheless, few methods are available for efficient planning and design of rainwater harvesting facilities by considering the weather conditions and purpose of rainwater management in each site, which may lead to a construction of uneconomic facilities. The current method estimates the size of rainwater storage tank by multiplying the size of building or plottage with a certain ratio and has many limitations. In this study, we first developed a method for planning and design of rainwater storage facilities using $Rainstock^{TM}$ model, which is based on mass balance, and economic analysis. Then, the model was applied for the design of a rainwater harvesting facility in a building with the catchment area of $1,000m^2$. The model calculation indicated that the economic feasibility of rainwater harvesting depends on not only the size of storage tank but also the water usage rate. When the water usage rate is $1m^3/day$, the rainwater harvesting facility is not cost-effective regardless of the size of the storage tank. With increasing the water usage rate, the economical efficiency of the facility was improved for a specific size of the storage tank. Based on the model calculation, the optimum tank sizes for $5m^3/day$ and $10m^3/day$ of water usage rates were $24m^3$ and $57m^3$, respectively. It is expected that the model is useful for optimization of rainwater storage facilities in planning and designing steps.

파, 부추 및 고들빼기김치 숙성 중의 Chlorophyll 및 그 유도체의 함량변화 (Changes of Chlorophylls and their Derivatives Contents during Storage of Green Onion, Leek and Godulbaegi Kimchi)

  • Threetypes of Korean traditional kimchi were prepared using green onion, leek or godulbaegi as raw materials and stored at 5oC and 20oC for 13 days. Changes in salt and ascorbic acid contents, pH and total acidity as well as the relationship of the decomposition of chlorophylls and the production of their derivatives were investigated. For the all kimchi samples tested, salt content was not significantly changed during storage at both temperatures, whereas pH and total acidity were decreased and increased, respectively. Especially their remarkable changes were shown at the third day of storage. Ascorbic acid content was remained at high level in the leek kimchi for the experimental period at both storage temperatures, meanwhile godulbaegi kimchi retained the least amount of ascorbic acid. Chlorophylls were decomposed to pheophytin and pheophorbide during storage at both storage temperatures, and this phenomenon was apparent at the third day of storage. Reduction of chlorophylls and increasements of its decomposed products such as pheophytin and pheophorbide were the least in leek kimchi and the greatest in godulbaegi kimchi during storage at both temperatures. These results indicate that decomposition of chlorophylls in kimchi and increasements of pheophytin and pheophorbide were closely related to the ascorbic acid content in kimchi.

살균조건에 따른 과채혼합주스의 저장 중 성분변화 (Changes in Chemical Compositions of Fruit-Vegetable Mixed Juice Sterilized at Various Conditions During Storage)

  • The purpore of this study was to elucidate the nutritional significance of the fruit-vegetable mixed juice during storage and distribution by examining the chemical composition of the mixed Juice for storage. The fruit-vegetable mixed Juices were sueriliged at 95$^{\circ}C$ for 30, 70, 100 seconds and the results of the changes in vitamin C contents, colors, total carotenoid contents, total aerobic counts and sensory evaluation of the mixed Juice were as follows: Vitamin C contents were drastically decreased at 7 day's storage and were not significantly different between the mixed Juices at p< 0.05 level after 7 day's storage. The longer the sterilization time and storage period of the mixed Juice was the higher changes in color was. The color changes in the sterilized samples were higher in order of 100, 70 and 30 seconds. Total carotenoid contents were slightly decreased according to storage period but were not affected by sterilization time. Total aerobic counts were 1.1 $\times$ 101 cfu/ml before sterilization, but it was negative after sterilization at 95t regardless of sterilization time. Sensory qualities such as color, flavor, taste and total acceptability of the mixed juice tended to be decreased by the Increased storage period and sterilization time. Especially, the sterilized sample for 100 seconds showed lots of changes In color.

Optimal Offer Strategies for Energy Storage System Integrated Wind Power Producers in the Day-Ahead Energy and Regulation Markets

  • We make optimal consecutive offer curves for an energy storage system (ESS) integrated wind power producer (WPP) in the co-optimized day-ahead energy and regulation markets. We build the offer curves by solving multi-stage stochastic optimization (MSSO) problems based on the scenarios of pairs consisting of real-time price and wind power forecasts through the progressive hedging method (PHM). We also use the rolling horizon method (RHM) to build the consecutive offer curves for several hours in chronological order. We test the profitability of the offer curves by using the data sampled from the Iberian Peninsula. We show that the offer curves obtained by solving MSSO problems with the PHM and RHM have a higher profitability than offer curves obtained by solving deterministic problems.

Different Oxygen Transmission Rate Packing Films During Modified Atmosphere Storage: Effects on Asparagus Spear Quality

  • The aim of this study was to determine suitable oxygen transmission rate (OTR) films for modified atmosphere (MA) storage of asparagus spears (Asparagus officinalis L.), and to examine the related changes in asparagus spear quality. Asparagus spears were packed with 10,000, 20,000, 40,000, 70,000, and $100,000cc/m^2{\cdot}day{\cdot}atm$ OTR film treatments for MA storage, and perforated film (conventional storage) was used as the control. The fresh weight loss rate was less than 1% in all OTR film treatments but not in the control. In all OTR film treatments, ethylene content rapidly increased on the first day of storage, and gradually decreased thereafter to $2.0{\mu}L{\cdot}L^{-1}$ by the final storage day. In the 10,000 cc and 20,000 cc OTR film treatments, carbon dioxide content was maintained within the permissible range for asparagus spears under recommended controlled atmosphere (CA) and MA conditions (5-12%). The oxygen content was maintained between 12% and 20% in all OTR film treatments. Hue angles and total chlorophyll content were highest in the 10,000 cc OTR film treatment in both tips and stems. Visual quality was maintained at a saleable level only in the 10,000 cc OTR film treatment until the final storage day (25 days). Based on sensory evaluation, the least off-odor was detected in the 10,000 cc OTR film treatment, and the most in the control treatment. While the soluble solids content decreased with all film treatments, it was maintained at the highest level in the 10,000 cc OTR film treatment. Vitamin C content decreased with all film treatments during storage, but was maintained at higher levels in the 10,000, 20,000, and 40,000 cc OTR film treatments. The firmness of tips and stems increased with storage duration in all film treatments, stems were firmer under the perforated film, 10,000, and 20,000 cc OTR film treatments. Given these results, the 10,000 cc OTR film treatment is considered the most appropriate for MA asparagus spear storage since visual quality and soluble solids content were maintained, and fresh weight loss, vitamin C content, off-odor, and yellowing were suppressed during storage.

  • 미니파프리카의 저장 후 수분손실과 경도변화로 인한 상품과실의 감소는 여름재배에서 주요한 문제점 중의 하나이다. 본 연구의 목적은 미니파프리카('하이비타 엘로우'와 '하이비타 레드')의 저장기간에 따른 적정 저장온도를 구명하는데 있다. 미니파프리카의 저장온도 시험에서 경도변화는 $8^{\circ}C$에서 저장한 것 보다 $20^{\circ}C$에 저장한 것이 변화가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 하이비타 엘로우의 경우 5일 저장 후 $20^{\circ}C$에서 경도가 $99.6g/cm^2$이었으며, 40일 저장은 $73.0g/cm^2$로 5일 처리와 비교할 때 $26.6g/cm^2$의 차이가 있는데 반하여 $8^{\circ}C$ 저장은 $109.7g/cm^2$에서 $92.7g/cm^2$으로 $17.0g/cm^2$ 의 차이가 나타나 $8^{\circ}C$에서 경도 감소가 적은 것으로 나타났다. 가용성 당 함량은 두 품종 모두 4, 8, $12^{\circ}C$ 보다 $20^{\circ}C$에서 높은 경향을 보였으며, 과실의 부패와 수분손실에 의한 과피주름짐 현상도 $20^{\circ}C$에서 높았다. 공기조성 변화는 $20^{\circ}C$ 처리구에서 $CO_2$ 함량이 높고 $O_2$ 함량이 낮았다.

연포장재 필름의 물성 및 포장방법이 개별포장한 수삼의 저장성에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Physical Property of Soft Film and Packaging Method on the Storage Stability of Individually Packaged Fresh Ginseng)

  • 50 g내외의 4년근 수삼을 물로 세척한 후 한 뿌리씩 기능성 연포장재 필름 주머니(200$\times$300 m)에 넣고 밀봉하여 $25^{\circ}C$에서 저장하면서 연포장재 필름의 물성과 포장방법이 개별포장 수삼의 저장성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 산소투과도는 2.5~1900 cc/m$^2$.day.atm으로 각기 다르고 투습도는 4.0~5.0 g/m$^2$.day.90%RH으로 서로 비슷한 연포장재필름을 사용하였을 때 수삼의 외관품질은 산소투과도가 낮을수록 양호하였다. 투습도가 1.5-6.3 g/m$^2$.day.90%RH 수준으로 각기 다르고 산소투과도는 3.4~5.4 cc/m$^2$.day.atm범위로 비교적 낮은 연포장재 필름을 사용하였을 때 수삼의 외관품질은 투습도가 3.5g/m$^2$.day.90%RH인 연포장재 시험군에서 가장 양호하였고 투습도가 이보다 높거나 낮은 경우에는 수삼의 외관품질 불량률이 증가하는 경향이었다. 한편수삼을 연포장재 필름 주머니에 넣고 상압포장, 진공포장, 이산화탄소 충전포장, 이산화탄소-질소(30:70) 혼합가스 충전포장, 이산화탄소-산소-질소(25:5:70) 혼합가스 충전포장 등의 방법으로 포장하여 $25^{\circ}C$에서 저장하였을 때 이산화탄소-산소-질소(25:5:70) 혼합가스 충전포장 시험군의 외관품질이 가장 양호하였고 진공포장 시험군은 특히 저장 후반에 외관품질이 급격히 저하되는 경향을 나타내었다. 따라서 수삼을 산소투과도가 낮고 투습도가 3.5g/m$^2$.day.90%RH내외인 연포장재 필름 주머니에 한 뿌리씩 넣고 이산화탄소-산소-질소(25:5:70) 혼합가스로 충전하여 저장하면수삼의 외관품질을 장기간 양호하게 유지시킬 수 있을 것으로 예상된다.

Changes in the quality of pork loin after short-term (ten-day) storage in a supercooling refrigerator

  • The study aimed to evaluate pork loin quality after short-term (ten-day) storage in a supercooling refrigerator. Pork loin samples were stored for 10 days in a traditional refrigerator (control) and a commercially available supercooling refrigerator (SC). Pork quality measurements included meat pH, meat color, water holding capacity (drip loss and cooking loss), tenderness (hardness), and a sensory evaluation. Temperature changes of 0.45 ± 0.2℃ and 0.02 ± 0.25℃ occurred in the control and the SC, respectively, during 10 days of storage. The temperature in the SC chamber did not remain below freezing point, failing to meet expectations. Regarding the pork quality measurements, only the drip losses in the control and the SC were significantly different (4.45% vs. 2.59%, p < 0.01) after 10 days of storage. There were no significant differences between the two types of refrigerator in terms of the other measurements. Additionally, the overall acceptability of the pork loin did not vary significantly between the control and the SC when the sensory evaluation was performed. Therefore, a commercial SC could prove beneficial in terms of water holding capacity during the short-term storage of meat. Further research should be performed to evaluate quality changes that occur during long-term storage of meat in SC s and evaluate a wide range of meat, such as beef and chicken.

전통적 통배추김치 제조시 최적절임조건 및 저장기간 설정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Standardization method of Brining Conditions and Storage Day in the Preparation of Traditional chinese whole Cabbage Kimchi)

  • This study was conducted to present a method that determine the optimum conditions for the preparation of chinese whole cabbage kimchi. After Sensory and chemical characteristics of kimchi with various salt concentration in brine, brining time and storage period at equal saltiness were measured, the optimum conditions for the preparation of chinese whole cabbage kimchi were determined with the use of the response surface methodology. The results are summarized as follows; 1. The more salt concentration in brine, the longer brining time and storage period, resulted in the lower pH and the higher titratable acidity of kimchis. As the salt concentration in brine and brining time increased, kimchi reaches at optimum titratable acidity of it within a shorter time. 2. As the salt concentration in brine and brining time increased, content of succinic acid decreased but that of lactic, acetic, and propionic acid increased. Amount of citric, malic and succinic acid decreased but that of lactic, acetic acid increased, with storage day. 3. Sensory data showed that firmness and green cabbage flavor of kimchi decreased while toughness, carbonic mouthfeel, sourness and staled flavor increased with increased salt concentration in brine, brining time and storage day. As the storage period increased, crispness of kimchi decreased. 4. The optimum conditions for the preparation of chinese whole cabbage kimchi were as follows: Optimum salt concentration in brine, brining time, and storage period were 19.5%, 3 hours and 45 minutes, and 12 hours.

소금과 인산염 첨가에 따른 산란노계육의 단백질 추출성, Thiobarbituric Acid 및 Volatile Basic Nitrogen의 변화 (Changes in Protein Extractability, Thiobarbituric Acid and Volatile Basic Nitrogen of Spent Layer Meat Treated with Sodium Chloride and Phosphates)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of the addition of varied levels of NaCI and phosphates to the breast meat of spent layers(2 \pm 0.2 kg), which were stabilized for over 24 h before slaughter, on the protein extractability, thiobarbituric acid(TBA) and volatile basic nitrogen (VBN). Within 1 h after slaughter, breast meat was removed and treated with NaCI(0, 1, 2, 3%) and phosphates(0.25% and 0.5%) using a hot-salted method. The breast meat samples were stored at 4\pm$1^{\circ}C$ for 3 d. The results obtained were summarized as follows. 1. Soluble protein contents of salt-treated groups were significantly higher than that of control (P<0.05) and showed a positive relationship with the levels of salt. At a constant level of NaCI, the soluble protein content was proportionately elevated by the levels of phosphates (P<0.05). It decreased significantly in both control and salt-treated groups during storage (P<0.05). 2. TBA values of salt-treated groups were significantly higher than that of control(P<0.05) and showed a positive relationship with the levels of salt. At a constant level of NaCI, TBA values in 0.5% phosphates treatment groups were significantly lower than that in 0.25%(P<0.05). It increased significantly in both control and salt-treated groups during storage(P<0.05). 3. VBN values of salt-treated groups were significantly lower than that of control(P<0.05) They increased significantly by the salt treatment for the first day of storage(P<0.05), but not from the second day of storage. VBN values in both control and salt-treated groups were significantly increased during storage(P<0.05). After the first day of storage and at the same level of NaCI, no significant difference in VBN value was observed between the two levels of phosphates.
