In this paper, the shear resistance behaviour of reinforced concrete (RC) dapped end beams is investigated by 24 tests until failure load. The main parameters considered are the dapped end height, the type and effective range to provided the stirrups and the bent form of the longitudinal reinforcement. The failure behaviour of dapped end beams is presented and some conclusions are given. Inclined stirrups and longitudinal bent reinforcement have more influence on the shear capacity than vertical stirrups. Additionally, the shear mechanism of dapped end beams is analysed. Relatively simple semi-empirical equations for shear strength have been derived based on the results of 22 dapped end beams. The predicted results are in close agreement with the experimental ones. Finally, some design suggestions for the ultimate shear strength of dapped end beams are presented.

In this study, the behavior of R/C beam strengthened with carbon fiber laminate (C.F.L.) is analyzed from the test results. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the shearing rehabilitation effects of R/C beam with C.F.L. Test parameters are the thickness of C.F.L. and existence of stirrups. Test results how that the shear capacity of specimen without stirrups was increased and shear capacity of specimen with stirrups was not increased due to the insufficient fabrication of specimen and curing.

Recently, Many researchers are interested in ultra-high performance cementitious compostie characterized by high strength and high durability and trying to apply for structural members. In this paper, twelves fiber-reinforced UHPCC with high compressive strength over 150MPa I shaped beam without stirrups were tested under various conditicns to investigate the mechanical behavior of UHPCC I shaped beam without stirrups. Variables considered in this study includes steel fiber volume fraction, reinforcememt steel ratio, and shear spar ratio.
Although shear reinforcement in beams typically consists of steel bars bent in the form of stirrups or hoops, the addition of deformed steel fibres to the concrete has been shown to enhance shear resistance and ductility in reinforced concrete beams. This paper presents a model that can be used to predict the shear strength of fibrous concrete rectangular members without stirrups. The model is an extension of the plasticity-based crack sliding model originally developed for plain concrete beams. The crack sliding model has been improved in order to take into account several aspects: the arch effect for deep beams, the post-cracking tensile strength of steel fibre reinforced concrete and its ability to control sliding along shear cracks, and the mitigation of the shear size effect due to presence of fibres. The results obtained by the model have been validated by a large set of experimental tests taken from literature, compared with several models proposed in literature, and numerical analyses are carried out showing the influence of fibres on the beam failure mode.
This paper proposes and validates the extension of two models, previously formulated for the evaluation of the shear strength of reinforced concrete members with un-corroded reinforcements, to the case of beams with corroded stirrups. These extended models are based on the plasticity theory (this model has been proposed in the past by one of the authors) and on the simplified modified compression field theory. The response of these models is compared with that of the compression chord capacity model, which has recently been embedded with modifications that simulate the effects of steel corrosion. These latter modifications are first discussed and then introduced into the other two models. An existing database of slender and non-slender beams tested in laboratory by other researchers is revised and improved. Finally, all the considered models are applied to the selected specimens and a comparison is drawn between the shear strength resulting from the considered models and the shear strength resulting from the laboratory tests. The effects of corrosion on some important parameters of the ultimate shear response of the reinforced concrete beams are also discussed.
It is essential to properly understand the seismic behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) columns confined by stirrups that experience different corrosion rates. The current study investigated the effect of seismic performance indicators such as strength loss, energy dissipation rate, ductility and hysteresis damping on specimens and models for different stirrup corrosion rates. Analysis revealed the adverse effects of corrosion on the bond performance between the concrete and steel bars which affected the seismic performance of the columns. It was found that with increasing corrosion rate, ductility and energy dissipation of the specimens decreased. Compared with the uncorroded specimen, the ductility factor and energy dissipation decreased observably, by 22.89% and 60.64%, respectively. An attenuation relationship is proposed for the corrosion rate of the stirrups for different stirrup yield strengths, concrete compressive strengths, concrete covers and stirrup spacing.
Conventional reinforced concrete design codes assume ideal strain evolution in semi-deep beams with externally bonded fiber-reinforced polymer (EB-FRP) web strips. However, there is a strain interaction between internal stirrups and web strips, leading to a notable difference between code-based and experimental shear strengths. Current study provides an experiment-verified detailed numerical framework to assess the potential strain interaction under quasi-static monotonic load. Based on the observations, steel stirrups are effective only for low EB-FRP amounts and the over-strengthening of semi-deep beams prevents the stirrups from yielding, reducing its shear strength contribution. A notable difference is detected between the code-based and the study-based EB-FRP strain values, which is a function of the normalized FRP stress parameter. Semi-analytical relations are proposed to estimate the effective strain and stress of the components considering the potential strain interaction. For the sake of simplification, a linearized correction factor is proposed for the EB-FRP web strip strain, assuming its restraining effect as constant for all steel stirrup amounts.

This paper reports on tests of reinforced concrete shear walls for wall-type apartment structure under axial loads and the cyclic reversal of lateral loads with different confinement of the boundary elements. Confinement of the extreme element by U-stirrups and tie hooks seems to be as effective as closed stirrups. The shear strength capacity seems not to be increased by the confinement but deformation capacity improved.

The purpose of this study is to establish flexural behavior of high-strength concrete by means of both theoretical approach and experimental analysis of beams in which confinement stirrups have been introduced into pure bending zone. The experiment was carried out on full-scale high-strength reinforced concrete beams whose compressive strengths are 400 and 700kgf/cm$^2$, and confined with rectangular closed stirrups. The test results are reviewed in terms of flexural capacity and ductility.
In this paper, an Adaptive nerou-based inference system (ANFIS) is being used for the prediction of shear strength of high strength concrete (HSC) beams without stirrups. The input parameters comprise of tensile reinforcement ratio, concrete compressive strength and shear span to depth ratio. Additionally, 122 experimental datasets were extracted from the literature review on the HSC beams with some comparable cross sectional dimensions and loading conditions. A comparative analysis has been carried out on the predicted shear strength of HSC beams without stirrups via the ANFIS method with those from the CEB-FIP Model Code (1990), AASHTO LRFD 1994 and CSA A23.3 - 94 codes of design. The shear strength prediction with ANFIS is discovered to be superior to CEB-FIP Model Code (1990), AASHTO LRFD 1994 and CSA A23.3 - 94. The predictions obtained from the ANFIS are harmonious with the test results not accounting for the shear span to depth ratio, tensile reinforcement ratio and concrete compressive strength; the data of the average, variance, correlation coefficient and coefficient of variation (CV) of the ratio between the shear strength predicted using the ANFIS method and the real shear strength are 0.995, 0.014, 0.969 and 11.97%, respectively. Taking a look at the CV index, the shear strength prediction shows better in nonlinear iterations such as the ANFIS for shear strength prediction of HSC beams without stirrups.
