The effect of the primary particle of the A356 Alloy according to different wall thickness of the sleeve of die-casting by electromagnetic stirrer (전자교반시스템에서 Sleeve 의 크기가 유동특성과 미세조직에 미치는 영향)

  • Recently in the automotive industries, light and high quality material is strongly required because of emissions regulation issues. In the electromagnetic stirring process, it has many merits that are the exact control ability about material processing and a good point of the protection of environment. In this paper, the morphology of the change of primary Al phase in A356 alloy by electro magnetic stirrer was investigated to obtain the globular structure. The parameters are the current, stirring time, pouring temperature and cooling rate of different wall thickness; 5mm, 15mm, 25mm respectively. By proper selection of the processing parameters, globular primary particles can be obtained by electromagnetic stirrer.

  • The diffusion cell method is the main technique employed for the in vitro diffusion test of transdermal drug delivery preparations. Most existing transdermal diffusion devices use a water bath heating structure and direct current motor magnetic stirrer. However, these devices are confronted with problems, such as large volume, incompatible vertical and horizontal diffusion cells, few diffusion cell sets, and poor reliability. To overcome these deficiencies, the system adopts a dry heating method and uses a rotating magnetic field generated by the electromagnetic stirrer to drive the magnetic stirrer. Accordingly, the resulting device is characterized by a simple structure and small volume, convenient operation, compatible vertical and horizontal diffusion cells, and numerous diffusion cell sets. The reliability and practicability of the system is verified by the in vitro percutaneous permeability test of the bisoprolol patch.

Water Model Experiments of the Mixing Behavior of Polypropylene Particles by Vortex Stirrer (와류식 교반기를 이용한 폴리프로필렌 입자의 혼합 거동에 대한 수모델 연구)

  • Water model experiments were carried out to understand the mixing behavior of reducing agents in molten slag through vortex stirrer, which makes use of a gravitational energy to mix reducing agent in the molten slag without imparting artificial energy. At a water flow rate of 6 L/min vortex was not generated, and a stable vortex was formed when the water flow rate was 7 L/min or higher with the present experimental apparatus. Water level increased linearly with increasing the water flow rate. In the upper vortex region, the vertical and horizontal velocities slightly decreased with increasing the water flow rate, whereas those in the lower vortex region increased remarkably. Accordingly, strong mixing behavior was obtained in the lower vortex region. Owing to the strong centrifugal force, particles move downwards with approaching the funnel wall. When 40 grams of polypropylene particles added to the lower vortex, they were instantaneously mixed well.

  • Recently, rheology forming technology has been interested in industrial and academic for light weight materials and to solve environmental issues. In this study, the rheology material production equipments were used to be made spiral shape by special design. And the experiment variables established stirring time 0 $\sim$ 1200 sec, stirring velocity 0 $\sim$ 100 rpm and several material temperature of semi - solid states. The rheology materials were made for established experiment conditions then measured mechanical properties. Sequence-production equipments were appended to fabrication system of rheology material for make rheology materials continually. Therefore, the development of sequence-production equipments were demanded for fine grains and for uniform globule shape rheology materials by a specially designed spiral stirrer machine.

  • A semi-solid forming technology has a lot of advantages compared to the die casting, squeeze casting and hot/cold forging, so semi-solid forming has been studied actively. Semi-solid forming has two methods. One is thixoforming with reheating of prepared billet, the other is rheoforming with cooled melt until semi-solid state. Thixoforging technology can produce non-dendritic alloys for semi-solid forming complex shaped parts in metal alloys. In this study, the thixoforging was experimented with made rheology materials by the spiral stirrer equipment. Rheology materials for forging were made by A356 casting aluminum alloy and A6061 wrought aluminum alloy. After experiment, forged samples were measured microstructure and were heat treated for high mechanical properties.

  • Catalytic slurry reactors, in which a solid maintained in the rom of fine particles suspended in a liquid, are frequently used in chemical and biochemical and industries. In these processes the particle loading is normally low so that the effects of particles on the liquid-film mass transfer coefacent and the gas-liquid interface area are assumed to be negligible. But it is known from the works, amongst others, that the finely powdered activated carbon can increase the gas-liquid mass transfer significantly in surface-aerated reactors. The stirred cell (13.2cm inside diameter) contained four baffles and at the stirring speeds range of 80 ∼ 300ppm, the gas-liquid interfacial area could be considered as that of the cross section of the vessel (that is, 130.1cm2). When the stirrer speeds were increased, the effective interfacial area was slightly higher than the geometric area and was obtained experimentally from the Danckwerts plots.   • Laser beam machining has been known as efficient for glass micromachining. It is usually used the ultra-short pulsed laser which is time-consuming and uneconomic process. In order to use economic and powerful long pulsed laser, indirect processing called laser-induced backside wet etching (LIBWE) is good alternative method. In this paper, micromachining of glass using Nd:YAG laser with nanosecond pulsed beam has been attempted. In order to improve shape accuracy, combined processing with magnetic stirrer has been widely used. Magnetic stirrer acts to circulate the solution and remove the bubble but it is not suitable for deep hole machining. To get better effect, ultrasonic vibration was applied for improving shape accuracy.
