Statistical Properties of Intensity-Based Image Registration Methods

  • We investigated the mean and variance of the MSE and the MI-based image registration methods that have been widely applied for image registration. By using the first order Taylor series expansion, we have approximated the mean and the variance for one-dimensional image registration. The asymptotic results show that the MSE based method is unbiased and efficient for the same image registration problem while the MI-based method shows larger variance. However, for the different modality image registration problem, the MSE based method is largely biased while the MI based method still achieves registration. The results imply that the MI based method achieves robustness to the different image modalities at the cost of inefficiency. The analytical results are supported by simulation results.

  • 본 논문은 스테레오 알고리즘을 적외선 스테레오 정지영상에 적용시켜 입체감을 갖는 3차원 적외선 이미지로 향상시키는 연구이다. 적외선 이미지 향상 기법에 적용한 스테레오 알고리즘은 특징기반의 에지검출 방법으로 좌우영상의 깊이를 비교 검출하고 스테레오 특징기반 정합을 실현하여 향상된 3D 적외선 영상을 구현하였다. 실험결과로 에지 경계가 보다 자연스러운 3차원 적외선 입체영상이 투영되었다.

  • Image sticking, the phenomenon that the previously displayed pattern still remains after the image is changed into different image, is one of the most serious problem in realizing high picture quality. In this paper, we tried characterizing this undesirable feature in terms of the luminance and the intial firing voltage at ramp up time in reset period. It was found that the cell located at the boundary of previous image pattern show low firing voltage and high background luminance. And the results show that the degree of the image sticking is severely affected by discharge duration and the length of the sustain period.

  • Data Security is the most challenging area in Internet communication, where most of the secret sharing schemes are proposed for binary images. But still it lacks in providing security for data communication, especially in image transmission. Traditional visual cryptography scheme generate meaningless diwies and the reconstruction phase leads to quality degradation over the secret image. In this work, an intelligent two dimensional secret share construction scheme is proposed. A secret image is expanded into n diwies with the choice of scheme selection. By Stacking all the qualified diwies to revert the secret image without content loss and less than s* - 1 shares could not reveal any information about the secret image. The experimental results emphasize that the proposed secret share scheme is highly secured for image transmission.

  • The proposed scheme provides a scheme to preview the whole image contents of low quality JPEG coded image without license and to select image quality as required. Therefore, users can confirm the image contents from low quality image without paying for previewing it and then, can see the best quality image by paying for the additional qualify of the image. The proposed scheme in this paper can be able to provide quality graded services as requested as well as protecting environment of intellectual property of digital contents.

  • 본 논문에서는 정지 영상에 대하여 DCT 영역에서의 watemark 방버을 제안하였다. 정지 영상 내에 삽입된 watermark 의 가시성을 줄이기 위하여 정지화상의 고주파 영역에 watermark을 삽입하였으며, 고주파 영역 선별을 위하여 가변 크기의 고주파 영역 추출방법을 제안하였다. 제안된 방법이 JPEG 압축, 저주파 필터, 중복 watermark 및 cropping 등의 여러 가지 영상처리 기법에 강인한 특성을 나타내는 실험 결과를 얻었다.

  • Magnetic resonance image (MRI) is the most sensitive imaging test of the spine in routine clinical practice. Unlike conventional x-ray examinations and computed tomography scans, high-quality magnetic resonance images can be assured only if patients are able to remain perfectly still. However, some patients find it uncomfortable to remain still because of pain. In that condition, interlaminar cervical epidural injections can reduce pain and allow the procedure. When using air with the "loss of resistance" technique in epidural injections to identify the epidural space, there is the possibility of injected excessive air epidurally to mimic a herniated disc. We describe a case report of epidural air artifact in a cervical MRI after cervical epidural injections.

  • This study is aimed to analyze the method of movement expression in the Space-Time of Modern Visual Art. According to the results of analysis. the following is obtained. (1) The still object is perceived by the sense or optical illusion, and its whole image is made through the information processing prodedure. The concept of Space-Time is integrated into the constructivist works by the composition of image through transforming the position of the fundamental geometry and projecting it. (2) The traditional notion that the work of art is still concept of is changed. The movement of observer is caused by inducing the direction and concept of time through the object in three dimensional space.

  • 본 논문에서는 정지 영상의 원하는 PSNR을 만족하도록 삽입될 워터마크의 길이를 DCT 평면에서 계산하는 방법을 제안하였다. DCT의 에너지 관계를 이용하여, 삽입될 워터마크의 길이를 DCT 평면에서 직접 계산하는 식을 유도하였다. 여러 개의 실험 영상에 대해 실험결과를 통하여 제안한 방법의 효용성을 입증하였다.
