FEASIBILITY ON GENERATING STEREO MOSAIC IMAGE

  • Recently, the generation of panoramic images and high quality mosaic images from video sequences has been attempted by a variety of investigations. Among a matter of investigation, in this paper, left and right stereo mosaic image generation utilizing airborne-video sequence images is focused upon. The stereo mosaic image is generated by creating left and right mosaic image which is generated by front and rear slit having different viewing angle in consecutive video frame images. The generation of stereo mosaic image proposed in this paper consists of several processes: camera parameter estimation for each video frame image, rectification, slicing, motion parallax elimination and image mosaicking. However it is necessary to check the feasibility on generating stereo mosaic image as explained processes. Therefore, in this paper, we performed the feasibility test on generating stereo mosaic image using video frame images. In doing so, anaglyphic image for stereo mosaic images is generated and tested for feasibility check.

실시간 스테레오 정합을 위한 스테레오 영상 정합 프로세서 설계 (Design of Stereo Image Match Processor for Real Time Stereo Matching)

  • 스테레오 영상(stereo image)이란 같은 물체나 장면을 담고있는 서로 다른 시점의 두 영상이며 스테레오 영상에서 깊이 정보를 얻어내는 것을 스테레오 비전(stereo vision)이라 한다. 스테레오 비전에서 가장 중요한 과정은 두 영상에서 서로 일치하는 점을 찾아내는 스테레오 정합(stereo matching)이다. 그러나, 스테레오 정합은 매우 많은 계산을 필요로 하기 때문에 실시간으로 정합하기 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 실시간으로 스테레오 정합을 처리할 수 있는 스테레오 영상 정합 프로세서(stereo image match procesor:SIMP)를 설계하고 구현하였다. 이를 위해 슬라이딩 메모리(sliding memory)와 최소 선택 트리(minimum selection tree)를 제안하였고 파이프라인 구조(pipeline architecture)와 병렬 처리 기법을 이용하였다. SIMP의 입력은 64 그레이 레벨인 두 개의 64×64 스테레오 영상이고 출력은 최대 7의 값을 가지는 변이(disparity)와 12비트의 주소로 이들을 이용하여 64×64 변이도(disparity map)를 구성할 수 있다. SIMP는 약 240 프레임/초의 속도로 스테레오 영상을 처리할 수 있다.

Measurement of Distance and Velocity of Moving Objects using Single Camera Pseudo-Stereo Images

  • In this study, a new algorithm for measuring the velocity and distance from a camera to a moving object by using pseudo-stereo images obtained from a single camera with a stereo adapter is proposed. The proposed system is similar to a parallel visual stereo system using a two-camera system, but because this system can obtain pseudo-stereo images form a single camera, it has advantages not only in the aspect of cost but also in stereo conformity by arrangement and the calibration of the left and right stereo cameras upon image processing.

  • As high-resolution satellite images have enabled large scale topographic mapping and monitoring on global scale with short revisit time, agile sensor orientation, and large swath width, many countries make effort to secure the satellite image information. In Korea, KOMPSAT-2 (KOrea Multi-Purpose SATellite-2) was launched in July 28 2006 with high specification. These satellites have stereo image acquisition capability for 3D mapping and monitoring. To efficiently handle stereo images such as stereo display and monitoring, the accurate epipolar image generation process is prerequisite. However, the process was highly limited due to complexity in epipolar geometry of pushbroom sensor. Recently, the piecewise approach to generate epipolar images using RPC was developed and tested for in-track IKONOS stereo images. In this paper, the piecewise approach was tested for KOMPSAT-2 across-track stereo images to see how accurately KOMPSAT-2 epipolar images can be generated for 3D geospatial applications. In the experiment, two across-track stereo sets from three KOMPSAT-2 images of different dates were tested using RPC as the sensor model. The test results showed that one-pixel level of y-parallax was achieved for manually measured tie points.

DIRECT EPIPOLAR IMAGE GENERATION FROM IKONOS STEREO IMAGERY BASED ON RPC AND PARALLEL PROJECTION MODEL

  • Epipolar images have to be generated to stereo display aerial images or satellite images. Pushbroom sensor is used to acquire high resolution satellite images. These satellite images have curvilinear epipolar lines unlike the epipolar lines of frame images, which are straight lines. The aforementioned fact makes it difficult to generate epipolar images for pushbroom satellite images. If we assume a linear transition of the sensor having constant speed and attitude during image acquisition, we can generate epipolar images based on parallel projection model (2D Affine model). Recent high resolution images are provided with RPC values so that we can exploit these values to generate epipolar images without using ground control points and tie point. This paper provides a procedure based on the parallel projection model for generating epipolar images directly from a stereo IKONOS images, and experimental results.

  • 본 연구는 스테레오 이미지의 역사적 고찰을 바탕으로 인간의 시각 인지시스템과 전통적인 스테레오 이미지의 원리를 연구, 분석하며, 나아가 컴퓨터 그래픽스 시각화(Visualization)에 있어 새로운 전자적인 3차원 스테레오 이미지를 연구하는데 그 목적이 있다. 컴퓨터에서 이미지를 처리하고 구현할 수 있게됨에 따라, 컴퓨터의 시각화는 매우 정교하고 사실적인 퀄리티를 갖게 되었다. 종전에는 수치로 표시되었던 과학적 연구의 결과가 이제는 단순히 2차원적인 도형을 보여주는 차원을 넘어 3차원적인 데이터의 처리가 보다 사실적인 시뮬레이션을 위해 입체적으로 보여지는 여러 기술적인 개발이 이루어져 왔다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 스테레오 이미지의 원리를 바탕으로 광학적, 전자적 스테레오 이미지를 연구, 분석하며, 나아가 컴퓨터 그래픽스의 새로운 3차원 스테레오 이미지의 표현 가능성을 연구하고자 한다.

  • In this paper, rule-based stereo algorithm is explored to obtain three dimensional information of an object. In the preprocessing of the stereo matching, feature points of stereo images must be less sensitive to noise and well linked. For this purpose, a new feature points detection algorithm is developed. For performing the stereo matching which is most important process of the stereo algorithm, the feature representation of feature points is first described. The feature representation is then used for a rule-based stereo algorithm to determine the correspondence between the input stereo images. Finally, the three dimensional information of the object is determined from the correspondence of the feature points of right and left images.

어도비포토샵 프로그램을 이용한 anaglyphic 입체영상 제작법 (Construction of Anaglyphic Stereo Pair Image using Adobe $Photoshop^{(R)}$ Program)

  • The objects of the nature have three dimensional (3-D) parameters. The 3-D profiles are embedded on the photographs and microscopic images. To understand 3-D configuration, stereo pair image with thick section is frequently employed. The perception of 3-D images is possible with the aid of stereoscopic glasses, although the expert can perceive 3-D images without the glasses. Anaglyphic stereo images are constructed by various softwares from commercial and freeware. Here we would like to present an easy anaglyphs construction method with Adobe $Photoshop^{(R)}$ based on tilting paired images from high voltage electron microscope. The anaglyphic stereo images constructed revealed the same 3-D perception with conventional stereoscopy. We could zoom in/out the anaglyph image digitally to investigate the detail configuration by real time. This method is expected to contribute to understanding complex structures 3 dimensionally.

KOMPSAT-1 EOC입체 영상을 이용한 DEM생성과 정확도 검증 (DEM Extraction from KOMPSAT-1 EOC Stereo Images and Accuracy Assessment)

  • 본 논문에서는 대전과 논산지역의 KOMPSAT-1 EOC입체 영상으로부터 DEM을 생성하고 정확도를 검증하였다. DEM생성 과정을 크게 카메라 모델링 단계와 영상 정합 단계로 구분하여 논의하였으며 카메라 모델링 기법은 Orun과 Natarajan이 제안한 모델(1994)과 Gupta와 Harteley(1997)가 제안한 DLT모델을 사용하였으며 두 모델링 기법을 EOC입체 영상에 적용하는 것이 가능한지 확인하였다. 영상정합 단계에서는SPOT용으로 개발된 알고리즘이 EOC입체 영상에 적용될 수 있는지를 검토 하였다. 그리고 각 단계마다 EOC영상에 적용했을 때의 결과를 SPOT영상을 적용했을 때의 결과와 비교하였다. 본 실험에서 KOMPSAT-1 EOC입체 영상에 대해 카메라 모델링 기법과 영상 정합을 수행하여 DEM을 생성한 결과 SPOT입체 영상에서 생성한 DEM 보다 성능이 우수한 DEM을 얻을 수 있었다.
