The Finite Element Method (FEM) was employed to demonstrate that accurate simulations of seismically repaired and retrofitted reinforced concrete shear walls can be achieved provided a good analysis program with comprehensive models for material and structural behaviour is used. Furthermore, the analysis tool should have the capability to retain residual damage experienced by the original structure and carry it forward in the repaired and retrofitted structure. The focus herein is to provide quick, simple, but reliable modelling procedures for repair and retrofitting strategies such as concrete replacement, addition of diagonal reinforcing bars, bolting of external steel plates, and bonding of external steel plates and fibre reinforced polymer sheets, thus illustrating versatility in the modelling. Slender, squat, and slender-squat shear walls were investigated. The modelling utilized simple rectangular membrane elements for the concrete, truss bar elements for the steel and FRP retrofitting materials, and bond-link elements for the bonding interface between steel or FRP to concrete. The analyses satisfactorily simulated seismic behaviour, including lateral load capacity, displacement capacity, energy dissipation, hysteretic response, and failure mode.

CFT(Concrete Filled Steel Tubular) Structure filled steel tubes with a concrete improves the stiffness and strength of the structure by the confinement effect of fillers. CFTA(Concrete Filled and Tied Steel Tubular Arch) girder is a new type structure that applies an arch structure and a pre-stressed structure to CFT Structure to maximize the efficiency of structure and economic. One of conspicuous characteristics of CFTA girder is exposed tendon and that is pointed out as the weak point of this girder. Therefore in this study, safety estimation for the exposed tendon is performed and dynamic analysis is also performed by the collision numerical simulation. For analyzing this model, ABAQUS 6.5-1 was used.
An experimental and analytical study on the behavior of the wall-support joint in SC(steel plate-concrete) structure was performed. Nine full-scale specimens were tested with a horizontal monotonic load, all acting in the same plane, causing a uni-axial moment on the SC structure's wall-support beam joint. The main focus is to examine thenonlinear behavior and ultimate strength of the SC wall-support joint. The effects of parameters, such aslocation of support, thickness of the steel plate, and size of support, were studied. The yield strength and ultimate strength of the plate-concrete wall was defined by examining the load-deflection relationship, showing the tension membrane action.
In order to improve the constructability and meanwhile ensure excellent seismic behavior, several innovative composite connection details were conceived and studied by the authors. This paper reports experimental results and observations on seismic behavior of steel beam bolted to reinforced concrete column connections (bolted RCS or BRCS). The proposed composite connection details involve post tensioning the end plates of the steel beams to the reinforced concrete or precast concrete columns using high-strength steel rods. A rational design procedure was proposed to assure a ductile behavior of the composite structure. Strut-and-tie model analysis indicates that a bolted composite connection has a favorable stress transfer mechanism. The excellent capacity and behavior were then validated through five full-scale beam to column connection model tests.
Mega composite structure systems have been widely used in high rise buildings in China. Compared to other structures, this type of composite structure systems has a larger cross-section with less weight. Concrete filled steel tubular (CFST) laced column to box-beam connections are gaining popularity, in particular for the mega composite structure system in high rise buildings. To enable a better understanding of the destruction characteristics and aseismic performance of these connections, three different connection types of specimens including single-limb bracing, cross bracing and diaphragms for core area of connections were tested under low cyclic and reciprocating loading. Hysteresis curves and skeleton curves were obtained from cyclic loading tests under axial loading. Based on these tested curves, a new trilinear hysteretic restoring force model considering rigidity degradation is proposed for CFST laced column to box-beam connections in a mega composite structure system, including a trilinear skeleton model based on calculation, law of stiffness degradation and hysteresis rules. The trilinear hysteretic restoring force model is compared with the experimental results. The experimental data shows that the new hysteretic restoring force model tallies with the test curves well and can be referenced for elastic-plastic seismic analysis of CFST laced column to composite box-beam connection in a mega composite structure system.

Given the increased interest in enhancing structural sustainability, the current study sought to apply multiobjective optimization to a footbridge with a steel-concrete composite I-girder structure. It was considered as objectives minimizing the cost for building the structure, the environmental impact assessed by CO2 emissions, and the vertical accelerations created by human-induced vibrations, with the goal of ensuring pedestrian comfort. Spans ranging from 15 to 25 meters were investigated. The resistance of the slab's concrete, the thickness of the slab, the dimensions of the welded steel I-profile, and the composite beam interaction degree were all evaluated as design variables. The optimization problem was handled using the Multiobjective Harmony Search (MOHS) metaheuristic algorithm. The optimization results were used to generate a Pareto front for each span, allowing us to assess the correlations between different objectives. By evaluating the values of design variables in relation to different levels of pedestrian comfort, it was identified optimal values that can be employed as a starting point in predimensioning of the type of structure analyzed. Based on the findings analysis, it is possible to highlight the relationship between the structure's cost and CO2 emission objectives, indicating that cost-effective solutions are also environmentally efficient. Pedestrian comfort improvement is especially feasible in smaller spans and from a medium to a maximum level of comfort, but it becomes expensive for larger spans or for increasing comfort from minimum to medium level.

Fire-resistant (FR) test data for a square concrete-filled steel tube (CFT) columns consisting of high-strength steel (fy>650MPa) and high strength concrete (fck>100MPa) under axial loads are insufficient. The FR behavior of square high-strength CFT members was investigated experimentally for two specimens having ${\Box}-400{\times}400{\times}15{\times}3,000mm$ with two axial load cases (5,000kN and 2,500kN). The results show that the FR performance of the high-strength CFT was rapidly decreased at earlier time (much earlier at high axial load) than expected due to high strength concrete spalling and cracks. In addition, a fiber element analysis (FEA) model was proposed and used to simulate the fiber behaviour of the columns. For steel and concrete, the mechanical and thermal properties recommended in EN 1994-1-2 are adopted. Test results were compared to those of numerical analyses considering a combination of temperature and axial compression. The numerical model can reasonably predict the time-axial deformation relationship.
The key issue for the finite element analysis (FEA) of section steel reinforced concrete (SRC) structure is how to consider the bond-slip performance. However, the bond-slip performance is hardly considered in the FEA of SRC structures because it is difficult to achieve in the finite element (FE) model. To this end, the software developed by Python can automatically add spring elements for the FE model in ABAQUS to considering bond-slip performance. The FE models of the push-out test were conducted by the software and calculated by ABAQUS. Comparing the calculated results with the experimental ones showed that: (1) the FE model of SRC structure with the bond-slip performance can be efficiently and accurately conducted by the software. For the specimen with a length of 1140 mm, 3565 spring elements were added to the FE model in just 6.46s. In addition, different bond-slip performance can also be set on the outer side, the inner side of the flange and the web. (2) The results of the FE analysis were verified against the corresponding experimental results in terms of the law of the occurrence and development of concrete cracks, the stress distribution on steel, concrete and steel bar, and the P-S curve of the loading and free end.

High-rise and large size buildings require high strength concrete and steel structure as a necessity. However, high strength concrete and steel structure are strong material but have a weakness to high temperature. Therefore, fire protection is a matter that must be considered very importantly in design for structure of high strength concrete and steel. Fire proof board that is existing method for fire proof has relatively low performance in fire protection emphasizes the need of new fire protection material due to the using of in numerable inflammables like plastics. The objective of this study is to understand the fire-resisting performance of newly developed fire protection material for building. This paper describes the results of fire tests using ISO curve that is fire protection regulation for buildings of the newly developed cementitious fire protection coating material applied concrete tunnel lining specimens.

The Purpose of this is properties of CFT filled with expansion concrete. CFT(concrete filled steel tube) is the structure that circle shape steel column filled with concrete. 3 kinds of expansive additives and variation of replacement rate. we changed expansive additive from 0%, 10%, 20%, 30% of ratio of addition rate are selected for this experiment. Merits of CFT are concrete internal force rising influenced by steel shape restriction, reinforcing the local buckling, excellent resistance to transformation. Generally, High rise building using CFT utilize the high strength and fluidity concrete for packing the tube inside. As the result a steel tube charged expensive concrete has stiffness 1.5times more than a steel tube not charged concrete. Increase of resisting power about compressive stress by binding expansion of expansive concrete affects strength increase and softness.
