응집침전에 의한 제철공장 냉각수질향상 (Improvement of Cooling Water Quality by Coagulation and Sedimentation in Steel Mill)

  • This study was initiated to improve the cooling water quality by chemical coagulation and sedimentation in steel mills. Due to the inefficient flocculation in the settling tanks of blast furnace cooling water systems, the solid particles in the cooling water overflow accumulate and clog the cooling system. To protect the cooling water system from such fouling, proper flocculants must be continuously used. Laboratory tests were performed for the indirect cooling water system of a plate mill. The batch test in the gas scrubbing cooling water system of a blast furnace showed that the proposed coagulant was more effective for the improvement of coagulation and sedimentation than the existing one. During the tests, cationic flocculants were more effective than use of only an anionic flocculant. The suggested combination of anionic and cationic flocculants can probably improve the turbidity removal efficiency of the cooling water. Proper control of the overflow rate by the designed residence time would help turbidity removal efficiency in the settling tank. In addition, the settling can be enhanced by adopting rapid and slow mixing alternatively. Scale problems in blast furnace cooling water system were reduced to some extent by efficient settling.

  • 각종 발전설비 및 LNG 저장탱크 등 대형산업구조물의 구조적 건전성을 확보하기 위해서는 강구조물을 형성하는 강용접부의 파괴인성 평가가 필수적이다. 강용접부는 모재와는 달리 다양한 재질적 불균질성을 가지는 경우가 대부분인데, 이러한 불균질성은 파괴변수 및 인성치에 대하여 역학적, 야금학적으로 많은 영향을 미치게 되므로 파괴인성 시험시에는 불균질 인자들의 영향을 반드시 고려해 주어야 한다. 하지만 국내의 경우는 강용접부의 불균질성에 대한 체계적인 연구가 이루어져 있지 않은 상태이므로, 본 논문에서는 강용접부가 가지는 인성적, 강도적 불균질에 대하여 정리하고 이에 따른 문제점을 리뷰하였다.

  • 최근 원자력발전소 및 LNG 저장탱크 등 특수구조물의 공사 기간과 비용 절감을 목적으로 PSC 구조물 대신 프리캐스트 형식의 SCP 모듈의 사용이 증가하고 있다. SCP 모듈 내부는 강재와 콘크리트의 일체 거동을 위해 스터드로 연결되어 있어 고유동 콘크리트의 사용이 요구된다. 고유동 콘크리트는 일반적으로 많은 단위결합재량를 가지기 때문에 수화열 및 수축의 증대, 비경제적인 강도 발현 문제 등이 발생한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 저분체 기반 고유동 콘크리트 최적 배합을 선정하기 위해 재료적 특성에 따른 고유동 콘크리트의 유동성 및 철근의 간극 통과성능을 검토하고, 펌프카를 활용하여 펌핑 전후에 따른 콘크리트의 물성을 검토하며, 최종적으로 강재와 강재 사이를 콘크리트로 채우는 SCP Mock-up 부재에 대하여 고유동 콘크리트의 충전 성능을 평가하였다.

Effect of Retaining Preconsruction Primer (PCP) on the Quality of High Performance Protective Coatings Systems

  • In construction of new ships and large steel bridges in Korea, pre-construction primers (PCP), also known as shop primer, are routinely used and retained as an integral part of the protective coating system. Retention of PCP's can significantly reduce building schedule and cost. Retaining PCP through the so-called "sweep blasting" procedure eliminates or minimizes the necessity of a second blast operation, thus shortening overall schedule as well as reducing labor cost and hazardous waste disposal cost. This study evaluates the feasibility of retaining PCP as the part of primer for high performance protective coating systems applied to ships' hull, bottom and ballast tanks. Upon proving that the retention of the PCP is a viable option, the process of coating application can he improved significantly in terms of cost and working schedule of new ships and large steel bridges. Results indicate that use of the PCP via sweeping blasting in conjunction with standard high performance protective coating systems does not degrade the overall performance of the coating systems. At the same time, it is also highly recommended that the secondary surface preparation should consist of grit blasting of weld burnt and other damaged areas to SSPC SP-IO grade (Sa 2.5 Gr.), Near White Blast Cleaning with proper application and attention to detail.

소형위성 발사체용 추진제 가압 열교환기 설계 해석 (Heat Exchanger Design Analysis for Propellant Pressurizing System of Satellite Launch Vehicles)

  • A heated and expanded helium is used to pressurize liquid propellants in propellant tanks of propulsion system of liquid propellant launch vehicles. To produce a heated and expanded helium, an hot-gas heat exchanger is used by utilizing heat source from an exhausted gas, which was generated in a gas generator to operate turbine of turbo-pump and dumped out through an exhaust duct of engine. Both experimental and numerical approaches of hot-gas heat exchanger design were conducted in the present study. Experimentally, siliconites - electrical resistance types - were used to simulate the full heat condition instead of an exhausted gas. Cryogenic heat exchangers, which were immersed in a liquid nitrogen pool, were used to feed cryogenic gaseous helium in a hot-gas heat exchanger. Numerical simulation was made using commercially utilized solver - Fluent V.6.0 - to validate experimental results. Helically coiled stainless steel pipe and stainless steel exhausted duct were consisted of tetrahedron unstructured mesh. Helium was a working fluid Inside helical heat coil and regarded as an ideal gas. Realizable k-』 turbulent modeling was adopted to take turbulent mixing effects in consideration. Comparisons between experimental results and numerical solutions are Presented. It is observed that a resulted hot-gas heat exchanger design is reliable based on the comparison of both results.

구속효과를 고려한 9% Ni강 균열의 파괴거동 해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fracture Behavior of a Crack in 9% Ni Steel Considering Constraint Effect)

  • -162℃ 초저온 상태의 LNG를 저장하는 저장탱크의 내조는 균열과 같은 결함에 대한 구조 건전성 평가가 필요하다. 전통적인 파괴역학 관점에서는 응력확대계수 K, J-적분 그리고 CTOD를 이용한 단일 매개변수 평가가 주로 수행되어왔다. 그러나 실제 구조에서 발생되는 균열선단은 구조물의 크기, 시편형상 그리고 인장과 굽힘과 같은 하중의 형태에 따라 구속효과의 차이로 인한 영향이 발생하게 된다. 단일 매개변수 파괴역학을 보완하기 위해 다양한 시도가 있었고, 대표적으로 Q-응력법이 있다. 본 논문에서는 비선형 탄성영역의 균열선단 응력장 평가에 적합한 J적분에 Q응력을 유도하여 2 매개변수 접근법을 사용하고자 한다. SENB 시편의 균열비 0.1~0.7 그리고 광폭시편 균열비 0.2~0.6에 시편 균열선단의 응력을 J-Q 평가법을 이용하여 구속효과를 정량적으로 평가 하였다.

  • Aging-related degradation of nuclear power plant components is an important aspect to consider in securing the long term safety of the plant, especially the seismic safety, since the degradation of the components affects not only their seismic capacity but their response. This can cause a change in the seismic margin of a component and the overall seismic safety of a system. To better understand the status and characteristics of degradation of components in Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs), the degradation occurrences of components in the U.S. NPPs were identified by reviewing recent publicly available information sources and the characteristics of these occurrences were evaluated and compared to observations from the past. Ten categories of components that are of high risk significance in Korean NPPs were identified, comprising anchorage, concrete, containment, exchanger, filter, piping systems, reactor pressure vessels, structural steel, tanks, and vessels. Software tools were developed to expedite the review process. Results from this review effort were compared to previous data in the literature to characterize the overall degradation trends.

5,000톤급 스테인리스 사각형 물탱크 구조의 설계 개선을 위한 구조해석 (Structural Analysis for Design Improvement of Stainless 5,000ton Rectangular Water Tank Structures)

  • The finite element analysis of large sized rectangular water tank structures made of stainless steel materials is carried out for various combined load cases. The combined load cases for a large size of 5,000ton are further determined using the specification(KS B 6283) established from the Korean Standards Association. For the better numerical efficiency, the rectangular panels are modelled using the ANSYS program. The numerical results obtained for different load cases show as follows. In order to resist the snow load, it takes the influence of the gap than the size of the column. Also, in order to resist the water pressure, it shall increase the thickness of the wall. But, increasing the thickness of the wall is considerably less economical. Therefore, the angle with big thickness should be placed right next to the wall.

선박 및 해양구조물의 안전 모니터링 정보 획득을 위한 ZigBee Sensor node 적용에 관한 연구 (Implementation of a Vessel USN for Safety Monitoring System Based on ZigBee)

  • Recently ships and ocean platforms are becoming increasingly technological, unmanned, and huge. Maintenance and safety monitoring of these products is very important for safety reasons. Therefore, real-time monitoring of safety regions, such as the engine room, and hull structure, and environmental states, like fire and pressure of LNG tanks, is required for the sustainable ships. In this paper, a ZigBee-based wireless sensor network is suggested to monitor ships and ocean platforms effectively. However, this causes some telecommunication problems because these products are made of steel. To resolve this problem, we use the mesh networking of Zig-Bee that can monitor the regions and environmental states consistently. The telecommunication of such a monitoring system is tested on a real container ship and its performance is verified. The real-time monitoring results are displayed on the users' smart devices.

LNG 저장 탱크의 지진방지를 위한 면진베어링(LRB)의 개발 (Development of Isolators (Laminated Rubber Bearing) for the Seismic Isolation of LNG Storage Tanks)

  • 지금까지 대형 구조물에 널리 사용되고 있는 Base Isolator는 특히, 지진하중에 대하여 상부 구조물의 지반분리(base isolation)을 이용한 지진제어를 목적으로 하기 때문에 Seismic Isolator라 한다. 일반적으로 면진베어링에는 LRB(Laminated Rubber Bearing) 방식과 R-FBI(resilient-friction base isolator) 방식으로 크게 나눌 수 있다. LRB 방식은 가장 널리 사용되는 면진베어링으로써 방진고무를 주된 재료로 하고 수직강성을 보강하기 위하여 steel plate를 조합하여 제작하며, 초기강성 및 에너지 소산능력을 증가시키기 위하여 단면중앙에 납(lead plug)를 삽입하기도 한다. R-FBI 방식은 방진고무 적층판 내부에 미끄럼판을 가지고 있으므로 LRB 방식에 비하여 더 큰 수평변위를 발생시킬 수 있다. 이번에 설계 제작한 면진베어링은 LNG 저장탱크의 Seismic Isolation을 목적으로 적용대상의 사양에 맞추어 설계 제작하고 성능평가 시험을 수행하여 LNG 저장탱크, 원자로, 대형 건축물등 지진으로부터 보호되어야 하는 대형구조물의 방진재로 적용할 수 있는가를 평가하고자 한다. 본 논문에서는 제작된 면진베어링의 설계를 검증하고 방진고무(HDR)재료의 물리적 특성시험, 축소모델에 의한 정적, 동적시험을 통하여 시험방법을 소개하고 이러한 시험결과를 기초로 하여 면진베어리의 성능을 평가하였으며, 면진베어링의 온도변화, 외부 수직하중의 변화등에 따른 특성변화와 LNG 저장탱크와 면진베어링의 체결방법에 따른 시험으로 체결방법을 검증하였으며, 대상물의 사양에 적합한가를 고찰하였다.
