In this study, the steel fiber and the polypropylene fiber were used to enhance the mechanical properties of fully recycled coarse aggregate concrete. Natural crushed stone was replaced with recycled coarse aggregate at 100% by volume. The steel fiber and polypropylene fiber were used as additive material by incorporating into the mixture. In this test two parameters were considered: (a) steel fiber volume ratio (i.e., 0%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%), (b) polypropylene fiber volume ratio (i.e., 0%, 0.1%, 0.15%, 0.2%). The results showed that compared with no fiber, the integrity of cubes or cylinders mixed with fibers after failure was better. When the volume ratio of steel fiber was 1~2%, the width of mid-span crack after flexural failure was 5~8 mm. In addition, when the volume ratio of polypropylene fiber was 0.15%, with the increase of steel fiber content, the static elastic modulus and toughness of axial compression first increased and then decreased, and the flexural strength increased, with a range of 6.5%~20.3%. Besides, when the volume ratio of steel fiber was 1.5%, with the increase of polypropylene fiber content, the static elastic modulus decreased, with a range of 7.0%~10.5%. The ratio of axial compression toughness first increased and then decreased, with a range of 2.2%~8.7%. The flexural strength decreased, with a range of 2.7%~12.6%. On the other hand, the calculation formula of static elastic modulus and cube compressive strength of fully recycled coarse aggregate with steel-polypropylene fiber was fitted, and the optimal fiber content within the scope of the test were put forward.

Practially useful method of steel fiber for construction work is presented in this study. The most important purpose of this study is to develop a model which can predict mechanical behavior of the structure according to aspect ratio and volume fraction of steel fiber. Experiments on compressive strength, elastic modulus, and splitting strength were performed with self-made cylindrical specimens of variable aspect ratios and volume fractions. The experiment showed that compressive strength was not in direct proportion to volume fraction which doesn't seem to have great influence over compressive strength. However, splitting strength showed almost direct proportion to aspect ratio and volume fraction. Improvement of optimal efficiency was confirmed when the aspect ratio was 70. Experiments on flexural strength, fracture energy, and characteristic length were carried out with self-manufactured beams with notch. As a result, increases of flexural strength, fracture energy, and characteristic length according to increase of volume fraction tend to be prominent when aspect ratio is 70. The steel fiber improves concrete to be more ductile and tough. Moreover, regression analysis was the performed and predictable model was developed after determining variables. With comparison and analysis of suggested estimated values and measured data, reliance of the model was verified.

Experimental study was conducted to investigate the flexural-shear behavior of hooked steel fiber reinforced high strength concrete (SFRHC) beams. Twenty beams with shear span-depth ratio of 1.45 were tested, of which variables were the contents of steel fiber with aspect ratio of 60, tension reinforcement ratio and concrete compressive of 60MPa and 80MPa. Test results has shown that shear failure of the beams were changed into flexural-shear failure or flexural failure according to increasing steel fiber content, that SFRHC with slump of 15cm over and fiber volume ratio of 1.5% was possible in practice, and that proper volume ratio of steel fiber was 1.5%.

In this study, unsaturated polyester resin, artificial lightweight coarse aggregate, artificial lightweight fine aggregate, heavy calcium carbonate and steel fiber were used to produce a steel fiber-reinforced lightweight polymer concrete with which mechanical properties were examined. Results of this experimental study showed that the flexural strength of unnotched steel fiber-reinforced lightweight polymer concrete increased from 8.61 to 13.96 MPa when mixing ratio of fiber content increased from 0 to 1.5%. Stress intensity factors($K_{IC}$) increased with increasing fiber content ratio while it did not increase with increasing notch ratio. Energy release rate ($G_{IC}$) turned out to depend upon the notch size, and it increased with increasing steel fiber content.

The aims of this study were to determine mechanical properties of steel-fiber reinforced concrete under splitting tensile, flexural and compressive loading, and thus to improve the possible applications of concrete. The major factors experimentally investigated in this study were the fiber content and the length and the diameter of fibers. The major results obtained are summarized as follows : 1.The strength, strain, elastic modulus and energy obsorption capability of steel-fiber reinforced concrete under splitting tensile loading were significantly improved by increasing the fiber content or the aspect ratio. 2.The flexural strength, central deflection, and flexural toughness of steel4iber reinforced beams were significantly improved by increasing the fiber content or the aspect ratio. And flexural behavior characteristic was good at the aspect ratio of about 60 to 75. 3.The strength, strain, and energy absorption capability in compression were increased with the increase of the fiber content. These effects were not so sensitive to the aspect ratio. The energy absorption capability was improved only slightly with the increase of the fiber length. 4.The elastic modulus, transverse strains, and poisson's ratios in compression were not influenced by the fiber content. 5.The steel-fibers were considered to be appropriated as the materials covering the weakness of concrete because the mechanical properties of concrete in tension and flexure were significantly improved by steel-fiber reinforcement.

In this study, the effects of water-to-binder (W/B) ratio and replacement ratio of blast furnace slag (BFS) on the compressive strength of concrete were first investigated to determine an optimized mixture. Then, using the optimized high-strength concrete (HSC) mixture, hooked steel fibers with various aspect ratios and volume fractions were used as additives and the resulting mechanical properties under compression and flexure were evaluated. Test results indicated that replacement ratios of BFS from 50 to 60% were optimal in maximizing the compressive strength of steam-cured HSCs with various W/B ratios. The use of hooked steel fibers with the aspect ratio of 80 led to better mechanical performance under both compression and flexure than those with the aspect ratio of 65. By increasing the fiber aspect ratio from 65 to 80, the hooked steel fiber volume content could be reduced by 0.25% without any significant deterioration of energy absorption capacity. Lastly, complete material models of steel-fiber-reinforced HSCs were proposed for structural design from Lee's model and the RILEM TC 162-TDF recommendations.
This study deals with the wire content, wire diameter, aspect ratio , it's arrangement of steel, wire fiber and the sorts of castable which affected the character of steel wire fiber reinformced refractory castable. Two kinds of alumina based refractory castables, one is for 1650℃ and the other is for 1800℃, and stainless steel which is SUS 304 type 0.25, 0.34 , 0.37 and 0.50m/min diameter were used respectively. Aspect ratio was adjusted to 50, 75, 100 and steel fiber content was also adjusted to 1-4wt% each. The results of the experiment were as follows : 1. At firing temperature around 1,000℃, MOR is increased with increasing wire content and aspect ratio with decreasing firing temperature, which depends on the Romualdi's Fiber Spacing Theory. But for calculation of the fiber spacing, Swamy equation is more a aplicable to the extensive fiber mixing conditions. However, the condition differs from the above at firing temperature around 1,350℃ ,because of the degradation of wire and the progress of sintering of castable. 2. Linear change is getting larger corresponding to the increase of wire content, and the spaling resistivity is increasing corresponding to the increase of wire content and to aspect ratio, and with decreasing wire diameter. 3. Firing shrinkage under load is getting greater as higher wire content, and the shrinkage of the test pieces which fiber is vertically oriented is getting greater than the test pieces which fiber is randomly oriented.

Effects of tensile strength and aspect ratio of steel fiber on compressive and flexural behavior of steel fiber-reinforced concrete (SFRC) with high- and normal-strength were investigated. Also, this study explores compressive behavior of SFRC with different loading rate. For this purpose, four types of steel fiber were used for SFRC with specified compressive strength of 35 and 60 MPa, respectively. Cylindrical specimens with a diameter of 150 mm and height of 300 mm were made for compression test, and prismatic specimens with a $150{\times}150mm$ cross-section and 450 mm span length were made for flexural test. Test results from compression and flexural tests indicated that the toughness of concrete significant increased with steel fibers. Especially, using steel fiber with high tensile strength and aspect ratio can be lead to performance improvement of high-strength SFRC. In this study, equations are suggested to predict compressive toughness ratio of SFRC from flexural toughness ratio.

In this thesis, the fatigue tests were performed on a series of SFRC (steel fiber reinforced concrete)to investigate the flexural tensile behavior of SFRC varying with the steel fiber contents and the steel fiber aspect ratios. Beam specimens of 10$\times$10$\times$60cm are used. the specimen series are classified according to the steel fiber contents varying 0.5. 1.0, 1.5%, and to the steel fiber aspect ratios varying 60, 80, 100. The three point loading system was used in the fatigue tests. The minimum value of repeated loading was fixed at 10.0kgf and maximum value was 75% to static ultimate strength for periodically using concrete strain gages located at the lower end of the mid-span, and the stress-strain curves were drawn for each specimens, respectively. From the tests result, it was found that the larger steel fiber content and the smaller the steel fiber aspect ratio is , the tensile strain of SFRC under fatigue load proportionally increases. By the regression analysis on these results, the empirical formulae to predict the tensile strain of SFRC were suggested. In comparison of the tensile elastic modulus under fatigue load, it was also found that the larger steel fiber content and the smaller steel fiber aspect ratio is , the smaller decreasing rate of the stiffness of SFRC under fatigue load decreased.
The use of steel fiber reinforced to improve the strength and flexural toughness of concrete is well known, but reinforcement of polymer concrete with steel fibers has been hardly reported till now. Polymer concrete has high strength, durability and freeze-thaw resistance than that of cement concrete, but it has disadvantage such as low flexural toughness. In this paper, the strength characteristics and flexural toughness of steel fiber reinforced polymer concrete are investigated experimentally with various steel fiber aspect ratios($\ell$/d), and contents(vol.%). As the result, the flexural and splitting tensile strengths and flexural toughness were increased aspect ratio, and reach the maximums at a aspect ratio of 50. The relationship between the compressive, flexural and splitting tensile strength were high. And the relationship between flexural strength and strain energy was approximately linear.
