Development of a 32 Channel EEG and Evoked Potential Mapping System (32채널 뇌파 및 뇌유발전위 Mapping 시스템 개발)

  • A clinically oriented 32 channel Electroencephalogram (EEG) and evoked potential (EP) mapping system has been developed. The EEG and EP signals acquired from 32-channel electrodes are amplified by the pre-amplifier located near patient and are then tither amplified by main amplifier. An automatic artifact rejection scheme is employed using a neural network by which examination time is reduced substantially. Auditary and visual stimuli are used for the evoked potential mapping. A user-friendly graphical interface based on the Microsoft Window 3.1 is developed for the operation of the system. Statistical databases for the poop and individual comparisons are also included to support statistically based diagnosis.

Development of Accelerated Life Test Method for Constant Electrical Potential Electrolysis Gas Sensor (정전위 전해식 가스센서의 가속수명시험법 개발)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop the accelerated life test method for Constant Electrical Potential Electrolysis gas sensor (CEPE gas sensor). Methods: The parts and modules of CEPE gas sensor were analyzed by using Reliability Block Diagram (RBD). Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Quality Function Deployment (QFD) methods were performed for each part to determine the most affecting stress factor in its life cycle. The long term testing was conducted at three different dry heat levels and the acceleration factor was developed by using Arrhenius relationship. Conclusion: The acceleration factor for CEPE gas sensor was developed by using FMEA, QFD, and statistical analysis for its failure data. Also qualification tests were designed to meet the target life.

Seismic damage potential described by intensity parameters based on Hilbert-Huang Transform analysis and fundamental frequency of structures

  • This study aims to present new frequency-related seismic intensity parameters (SIPs) based on the Hilbert-Huang Transform (HHT) analysis. The proposed procedure is utilized for the processing of several seismic accelerograms. Thus, the entire evaluated Hilbert Spectrum (HS) of each considered seismic velocity time-history is investigated first, and then, a delimited area of the same HS around a specific frequency is explored, for the proposition of new SIPs. A first application of the suggested new parameters is to reveal the interrelation between them and the structural damage of a reinforced concrete frame structure. The index of Park and Ang describes the structural damage. The fundamental frequency of the structure is considered as the mentioned specific frequency. Two statistical methods, namely correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis, are used to identify the relationship between the considered SIPs and the corresponding structural damage. The results confirm that the new proposed HHT-based parameters are effective descriptors of the seismic damage potential and helpful tools for forecasting the seismic damages on buildings.

Evaluation of wind loads and the potential of Turkey's south west region by using log-normal and gamma distributions

  • In this study, wind data such as speeds, loads and potential of Muğla which is located in the southwest of Turkey were statistically analyzed. The wind data which consists of hourly wind speed between 2010 and 2013 years, was measured at the 10-meters height in four different ground stations (Datça, Fethiye, Marmaris, Köyceğiz). These stations are operated by The Turkish State Meteorological Service (T.S.M.S). Furthermore, wind data was analyzed by using Log-Normal and Gamma distributions, since these distributions fit better than Weibull, Normal, Exponential and Logistic distributions. Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) and the coefficients of the goodness of fit (R2) were also determined by using statistical analysis. According to the results, extreme wind speed in the research area was 33 m/s at the Datça station. The effective wind load at this speed is 0.68 kN/㎡. The highest mean power densities for Datça, Fethiye, Marmaris and Köyceğiz were found to be 46.2, 1.6, 6.5 and 2.2 W/㎡, respectively. Also, although Log-normal distribution exhibited a good performance i.e., lower AD (Anderson - Darling statistic (AD) values) values, Gamma distribution was found more suitable in the estimation of wind speed and power of the region.

  • Absorption potential of desiccant solution significantly decreases after absorbing moisture from humid air, and a regeneration process requires a great amount of energy to recover absorption potential of desiccant solution. In an effort to develop an energy efficient regenerator, this study examines a regeneration process using hot air heated by solar radiation to recover absorption potential by evaporating moisture in liquid desiccant. More specifically, this study is aimed at finding the optimum operating condition of the regenerator by utilizing a well-established statistical tool, so-called response surface methodology(RSM), which may provide a functional relationship between independent and dependent variables. It is demonstrated that an optimization model to find the optimum operating condition can be obtained using the functional relationship between regeneration rate and affecting factors which is approximated on the basis experimental results.

  • As the launches of a series of remote sensing satellites, there are various multiresolution and multi-spectral images available nowadays. This diversity in remotely sensed image data has created a need to be able to integrate data from different sources. The C-band imaging radar of ERS-2 due to its high sensitivity to coastal wetlands holds tremendous potential in mapping and monitoring coastal wetland features. This paper investigates the advantages of using ERS-2 SAR data combined with IRS-ID LISS-3 data for mapping complex coastal wetland features of Tamil Nadu, southern India. We present a methodology in this paper that highlights the mapping potential of different combinations of filtering and integration techniques. The methodology adopted here consists of three major steps as following: (i) speckle noise reduction by comparative performance of different filtering algorithms, (ii) geometric rectification and coregistration, and (iii) application of different integration techniques. The results obtained from the analysis of optical and microwave image data have proved their potential use in improving interpretability of different coastal wetland features of southern India. Based visual and statistical analyzes, this study suggests that brovey transform will perform well in terms of preserving spatial and spectral content of the original image data. It was also realized that speckle filtering is very important before fusing optical and microwave data for mapping coastal mangrove wetland ecosystem.

Relationships between Middle and High School Students' Experience of Viewing Media Sports Violence and the Imitation Behavior

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the causal relationship between the variables related to media sports violence viewing experience, negative emotion, aggression and violent imitation behavior of middle school students and high school students. The subjects of 240 middle school students and 240 high school students were surveyed for 2 months. Among the collected data, 64 samples judged to have low reliability were excluded from the analysis, and the final 416 data were used. The questionnaire used in this study consisted of four potential variables including experience of watching media sports violence, negative emotion, aggression, and violent imitation behavior. Among the sub-variables of experience of watching media sports violence, exogenous potential variables except frequency, period and time and questions that are endogenous potential variables were composed of a questionnaire of 5-point Likert scale. results of this study were analyzed using the AMOS statistical program, which was used to identify the causal relationship between watching media sports violence and negative emotion, aggression, and violent imitation behavior. There was no significant difference in violent imitation behavior according to school grade. The causal models for media sports violence viewing experience, negative emotions, aggression and violent imitation behavior were found to be appropriate. It was found that there was a significant causal relationship between the viewing experience of sports violence and the violent imitation behavior. Therefore, in order to reduce the imitation behavior of adolescents, it is necessary to be more careful about the production and viewing of sports violence programs at the institutions and homes that produce media.

The Effects of Job Characteristics on Leadership Awareness and Organizational Citizenship Behavior: Focused on the Role of Motivating Potential Score

  • Purpose - This study aimed to check the influence of job characteristics of members of small and medium businesses on authentic leadership awareness of superiors and organizational citizenship behavior, and if the MPS between awareness of authentic leadership and organizational citizenship behavior mediated. This study aimed to find the influence of job characteristics of SMEs members on leadership awareness and organizational citizenship behavior, and the role of motivating Potential Score. Research Design, Data, and Methodology - Total of 150 valid questionnaires were collected. Frequency analysis, descriptive statistical analysis, correlation analysis, simple & multiple regression analysis, and 3-step mediated regression analysis were conducted. Results - The sub-factors of job characteristics all had positive influence on authentic leadership except skill variety and positive awareness on authentic leadership enhances organizational citizenship behavior of members. Also, MPS partially mediates awareness of authentic leadership and organizational citizenship behavior. Conclusion - Providing skill variety such as expanding jobs to members of SMEs does not have influence of positive leadership awareness of leaders and partial mediation of MPS means that job characteristics along with positive leadership awareness on superiors enhance organizational citizenship behavior and contributes in developing the organization.

A Study on the Effect and Business Demand of the Orchard Scale-Up Project (과원규모화사업 효과 및 사업수요에 대한 연구)

  • In this study, the effect of orchard expansion, structural improvement, and potential demand of the orchard scale-up project implemented since 2004 to strengthen the competitiveness of orchard farmers was examined. The results of the analysis are summarized as follows. First, looking at the effect of scale-up by checking the standard income data of the Rural Development Administration, it was possible to confirm the effect of scale-up in that the income per unit area increases as the scale increases. Second, through the scale-up project, the effect of structural improvement in transferring the orchards of the aged farm households to the younger farm households was confirmed to be 13 years old on average in the case of a sale business and 16 years old in the case of a lease business. Third, it was found that income increased at a statistically significant level after participating in the orchard scale-up project for major fruit crops such as apples, pears, and peaches. Fourth, it was found that age and cultivated area had a statistical effect on the probability of participating in the orchard scale-up project for farmers who did not participate in the project. The potential business demand using the estimated results was found to be between 25,203 and 37,089.

The Potential of Yangdorak Diagnosis Application of Gallstone (담석증에 대한 양도락 진단의 활용 가능성)

  • Objectives: The aim of the study was to investigate the potential of Yangdorak diagnosis application against gallstone scanned by Ultrasound diagnosis. Method: For this aim, among 97 patients who had visited Julip Korean Medicine Clinic from July 2016 to June 2023, 30 patients with no gallstone as a control group and 67 patients with gallstone and diagnosed by ultrasonography, were subjected to Yangdorak diagnosis. Then, the changes in Gallbladder Meridian (GB) value as F5 AVE(average of left and right GB value) by Yangdorak were comparatively analyzed between gallstone and non-gallstone groups and statistical significance was evaluated by Tukey's multiple comparison test using Prism software. Results: After all subjects were evaluated by the Yangdorak and ultrasonography to assess the potential of the Yangdorak diagnosis for gallstone, it was noteworthy that the Yangdorak values relevant to F5 AVE of female gallstone group(N=36) were significantly (p<0.001) decreased compared to the control group (N=30), while there was no significance in male gallstone group(N=31). Also, it was recognized significant difference between male and female groups. Conclusion: Based on these results, if the Yangdorak value can be estimated from a decrease with clinical symptom in female patient, it is recommended to follow up the ultrasonography test for diagnosing the gallstone.
