In this thesis, a series of loading tests are conducted in order to investigate the fracture safety of GFRP(Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastics) pipes under fatigue load which are widely used in the developed countries becauses of their natural of anticorrosion and lightweight etc. . Fatigue test is performed by changing number of laminates and loading cycles to examine the flexural strains, the ductility and the fatigue strength for two million repeated loading cycles. From the fatigue test results, it was found that the larger the laminates of GFRP pipes is, the larger the stiffness of GFRP pipes under the fatigue load increases. This phenomenon is true until the fatigue failure. According to the S-N curve drawn by the regression analysis on the fatigue test results, the fatigue strength of percent of the static ultimate strength increases by increasing the laminates of GFRP pipes. The fatigue strength with two million repeated leading cycles in GFRP pipes with the laminates of GFRP pipes varing 15, 25, 35 shows about 75%, 80%, 84% on the static ultimate strength, respectively.
This paper investigates the relationships between dynamic elastic modulus and static elastic modulus or compressive strength according to curing temperature, aging, and cement type. Based on this investigation, the new model of the relationships we proposed. Impact echo method estimates the resonant frequency of specimens and uniaxial compression test measures the static elastic modulus and compressive strength. Type I and V cement concretes, which have the water-cement ratios of 0.40 and 0.50, are cured under the isothermal curing temperatures of 10, 23, and 50$\^{C}$ Cement type and aging have no large influence on the relationship between dynamic and static elastic modulus, but the ratio of dynamic and static elastic modulus comes close to 1 as temperature increases. Initial chord elastic modulus which is calculated at lower strain level of stress-strain curve, has the similar value to dynamic elastic modulus. The relationship between dynamic elastic modulus and compressive strength has the same tendency as the relationship between dynamic and static elastic modulus according to cement type, temperature and aging. The proposcd relationship equations between dynamic elastic modulus and static elastic modulus or compressive strength properly estimates the variation of relationships according to cement type md temperature.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate and evaluate muscle activity and foot pressure during gait, and isokinetic strength and balance in persons with functional ankle instability (FAI). METHODS: Nine healthy subjects (CON, n=9) without FAI and 11 patients (FAI, n=11) with FAI participated in the study after having been screened with an ankle instability instrument and a balance error scoring system. In addition, FAI was classified as non-involved (FAI-N) or involved (FAI-I), and CON was classified as dominant or non-dominant. All subjects were evaluated for isokinetic strength (plantar flexion, dorsiflexion, inversion and eversion of $30^{\circ}/sec$ and $60^{\circ}/sec$), balance (static and dynamic), muscle activity (tibialis anterior, peroneus longus and gastrocnemius) and foot pressure (static and dynamic) during gait. RESULTS: Results showed that plantar flexion (p<.05), dorsiflexion (p<.05), inversion (p<.01) and eversion (p<.00) of $60^{\circ}/sec$ were significantly decreased in FAI-I compared to those in FAI-N and CON. C 90 of static balance with eyes open (p<.01) and closed (p<.00) were significantly increased in FAI compared to those in CON. Forward position of dynamic balance (p<.01) was significantly decreased in FAI compared to that in CON. Gastrocnemius and peroneus longus of dynamic muscle activity (p<.01), left and right weight distribution of static foot pressure (p<.00) and pressure distribution of dynamic foot pressure (p<.00) were significantly decreased in FAI-I compared to those in FAI-N. CONCLUSION: We demonstrated that ankle strength, balance, muscle activity and foot pressure were significantly correlated with FAI.

AE technique was applied to the static structural test of the composite wing structure to evaluate the structural integrity and damage. During the test, strain and displacements measurement technique were used to figure out for static structural strength. AE parameter analysis and source location technique were used to evaluate the internal damage and find out damage source location. Design limit load test, the 1st and 2nd design ultimate load tests and fracture test were performed. Main AE source was detected by an sensor attached on skin near by front lug. Especially, at the 1st design ultimate test, strain and displacements results didn't show internal damage but AE signal presented a phenomenon that the internal damage was formed. At the fracture test, AE activities were very lively, and strain and displacements results showed a tendency that the load path was changed by severe damage. The internal damage initiation load and location were accurately evaluated during the static structural test using AE technique. It is certified from this paper that AE technique is useful technique for evaluation of internal damage at static structural strength test.

PURPOSE: This study compared ankle joint exercise and thigh exercise on the isometric strength of the lower limb and balance ability. METHODS: Twenty-seven subjects were divided into ankle joint exercise (AEG, n=9), tight exercise (TEG, n=9), and control group (CON, n=9). AEG and TEG performed ankle joint and tight exercises three times a week for four weeks. The following were measured before and four weeks after each exercise: isometric strength at knee flexion and extension of the lower limb; isometric strength at ankle plantar flexion and dorsiflexion of the lower limb; static balance of trace length and C90 area; and the dynamic forward, backward, leftward, and rightward balance for each region. RESULTS: The results showed that the isometric strength of plantar flexion (p<.05) was increased significantly in AEG compared to those in TEG and CON. The dynamic leftward (p<.05) and rightward balance (p<.05) were increased significantly in both AEG and TEG compared to that in CON. On the other hand, the static balance of the trace length and C90 area, isometric strength of ankle dorsiflexion, knee flexion and extension of the lower limb, and dynamic forward and backward balance did not show significant differences between the groups. CONCLUSION: Ankle joint exercise improves the isometric strength of plantar flexion compared to tight exercise.
This study evaluated the static and dynamic shear strength of cast-in-place anchors reinforced with hairpin bars in uncracked and cracked concrete. The anchors 30mm in diameter reinforced with D10 hairpin bar were designed with an edge distance of 150mm and an embedment depth of 240mm. The cracked specimens consisted of the orthogonal and parallel cracks to the direction of shear loads, respectively. The dynamic strength was evaluated using seismic qualification tests based on the ACI 355.2 standard. The shear strength of the hairpin reinforced anchor was hardly correlated to the concrete cracks and the dynamic strength was similar to its static shear strength. Finally, a consideration on the design strength of hairpin reinforced anchors was presented.

This research focuses on producing a cheap polymer, and also experiments for marking with the high strength polymer concrete structures. At present only a few tests on shear behavior in polymer reinforced concrete beams(PRC) have been reported. In the current experiments, the reinforced concrete beams with polymer fraction are investigated. The beams in this study are supported by conventional stirrups at appropriate intervals and they are designed to take static loads. The strength of beams are measured and the behavior of beams under each loading are oh served in order to determine some advantages of adding polymer to reinforced concrete beams. The static testing data consist of load, displacement, and strain at specified reinforcement locations, and the support displacement In the static tests, it has been observed that the beams fail in the same way as RC. However, it is observed to he rather weak in impact, hut it can he said that its increase of strength and excellency of repairing are verified. Consequently this work strongly suggests that the steam-curing or the air-curing or the air-curing must be performed to increase the strength.

It has been well known that ductile fracture of steels is accelerated by triaxial stresses. The characteristics of ductile crack initiation in steels are evaluated quantitatively using two-parameters criterion based on equivalent plastic strain and stress triaxiality. It has been demonstrated by authors using round-bar specimens with circumferential notch in single tension that the critical strain to initiate ductile crack from specimen center depends considerably on stress triaxiality, but surface cracking of notch root is in accordance with constant strain condition. In order to evaluate the stress/strain state in the specimens, especially under dynamic loading, a thermal, elastic-plastic, dynamic finite element (FE) analysis considering the temperature rise due to plastic deformation has been carried out. This study provides the fundamental clarification of the effect of strength mismatching, which can elevate plastic constraint due to heterogeneous plastic straining, loading mode and loading rate on critical condition to initiate ductile crack from notch root using equivalent plastic strain and stress triaxiality based on the two-parameter criterion obtained on homogeneous specimens under static tension. The critical condition to initiate ductile crack from notch root for strength mismatched bend specimens under both static and dynamic loading would be almost the same as that for homogeneous tensile specimens with circumferential sharp notch under static loading.
Though extensive research has been carried out for the ultimate strength of steel reinforced concrete (SRC) members under static and cyclic load, there was only limited information on the applied analysis models. Modeling of the inelastic response of SRC members can be accomplished by using a microcosmic model. However, generally used microcosmic model, which usually contains a group of parameters, is too complicated to apply in the nonlinear structural computation for large whole buildings. The intent of this paper is to develop an effective modeling approach for the reliable prediction of the inelastic response of SRC columns. Firstly, five SRC columns were tested under cyclic static load and constant axial force. Based on the experimental results, normalized trilinear skeleton curves were then put forward. Theoretical equation of normalizing point (ultimate strength point) was built up according to the load-bearing mechanism of RC columns and verified by the 5 specimens in this test and 14 SRC columns from parallel tests. Since no obvious strength deterioration and pinch effect were observed from the load-displacement curve, hysteresis rule considering only stiffness degradation was proposed through regression analysis. Compared with the experimental results, the applied analysis model is so reasonable to capture the overall cyclic response of SRC columns that it can be easily used in both static and dynamic analysis of the whole SRC structural systems.
The strength test was done for the Carbon/Carbon rotor disk which is the critical part of a carbon/carbon brake system in an operating time. The loading fixture was designed for the static strength test of a single carbon/carbon brake disk using finite element analysis. To simulate the real dynamic system in a static condition, the friction surface of the rotor disk was fixed and static load was applied to the rotor slot in the circumferential direction. The described failure mechanism of the brake disk can be described as matrix cracking occurred first at the contact surface of the rotor slot, subsequent delamination from the cracked contact surface, and the final fracture at the notch of the rotor.
