In this study, gas turbine engine inlet duct was designed to satisfy uniform flow at aerodynamic interface plane (AIP). Haack-series was selected as nose cone profile and duct outer radius($r_o$) was designed to satisfy to match with area change rate between the nose cone and outer duct wall by the 1-D sizing. The design object of the inlet duct wall profile which has the gradual area change rate was uniform Mach number in the core flow region and minimum boundary later thickness at the both inner nose wall and outer duct wall. The flow characteristics inside the inlet duct was evaluated using CFD. The static pressure distribution at the AIP showed uniform pattern within 0.16%. Based on Mach number profile, the boundary layer thickness was 2% of channel height. Kiel temperature rake location was decided less than 100 mm in front of nose cone where the Mach number is less than 0.1 in order to maximize the temperature probe recovery rate.
As engine is produced with foreign technology, basic data for cooling fan are very few in korea. Therefore, an experiment was performed to obtain data on cooling fans for the cooling system. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. Efficiency of cooling fan was 49.9% while the engine eras running at the rated power. 2. Shaft power of the fan was 0.5 kW maximum at the rated power. 3. Air flow rate of the fan was $12.9m^3/min$. at the rated power. 4. Static pressure of the fan was 29.8 mmHg at the rated power.

The objectives of this study were to evaluate the effects of shelling ratio and resin content on the properties of bamboo oriented strand board (BOSB) from betung (Dendrocalamus asper) and to determine the correlation between the results of dynamic and static bending tests. Strands were steam-treated at $126^{\circ}C$ for 1 h under 0.14 MPa pressure and followed by washing with 1% NaOH solution. Three-layer BOSB with the core layer perpendicular to the surface was formed with shelling ratios (face:core ratio) of 30:70; 40:60; 50:50; 60:40 and binded with 7% and 8% of phenol formaldehyde (PF) resin with the addition of 1% of wax. The evaluation of physical and mechanical properties of BOSB was conducted in accordance with the JIS A 5908:2003 standard and the results were compared with CSA 0437.0 standard for commercial OSB (Grade O-1). Non-destructive testing was conducted using Metriguard Model 239A Stress Wave Timer which has a wave propagation time from 1 to $9,999{\mu}s$ and a resolution of $1{\mu}s$. BOSB with 8% resin content showed better physical and mechanical properties than those with 7% resin content. The increase of the face layer ratio improved the strength of BOSB in parallel direction to the grain. The results suggested that shelling ratio of 50:50 could be used as a simple way to reduce PF resin requirements from 8% to 7% and to meet the requirements of CSA 0437.0 standard. The results of non-destructive and destructive tests showed a strong correlation, suggesting that non-destructive test can be used to estimate the bending properties of BOSB.
Lattice towers and tubular steel poles have been commonly used for electrical power transmission in Korea. They are durable, structurally stable, simple and can easily be constructed in limited spaces. However, residents are opposed to construct transmission lattice towers in their areas because they are not visually attractive, and electrical field occur at the transmission lines. Underground transmissions have been used instead of the traditional towers to resolve these problems, however they are not cost effective to construct and run. Therefore, we have developed eco-friendly towers that are more attractive, well blending into the surrounding environment, and much more economical than underground transmissions. There are four categories of the eco-friendly electric transmission towers about design aspects. Firstly, there is decoration type such as tree tower and ensemble tower. Tree tower looks like actual trees with leaves and branches so it blends into surroundings. Ensemble towers were designed after pair of crane birds. Those towers have decoration features and art works. Structural examination and manufacturing this type would be very similar to the conventional transmission towers. Secondly, there is arm design type such as traditional tower. Design features are added to the existing towers. As partial design can be adoptable on these types, it can easily meet height regulations and attach to conventional lattice towers and tubular steel poles. Also, these towers are more economical than others. Third category is multipurpose type such as Sail Tower. These towers have simple pole or tubular structure with features which can be used as information message board, public relations and much more. This type will face greater wind pressure because of the area of the board, also visibility must take into consideration. Lastly, there is moulding type such as arc pylon. It is different shape to the conventional towers - lattice towers and tubular steel poles. Dramatic design changes have been adapted - from a hard and static tower to a soft and curved tower. These towers will well stand out in the field. However, structural examination and manufacturing this type would be difficult and costly. Also certain towers of this type would require scaffolding or false work to construct, which will result in limitations of the construction area. This paper shows KEPCO 154 kV Sail tower in detail. KEPCO 154 kV Sail tower that is included in fabrication of sample tower and tower testing has developed and the results are presented in this paper. We hope that sail tower is also considered as a solution to have public acceptance or to create a familiar atmosphere among towers and people in coastal area.
The specific strength of magnesium alloy is four times that of iron and 1.5 times that of aluminum. For this reason, its use is increasing in the transportation industry which is promoting weight reduction. At room temperature, magnesium alloy has low formability due to Hexagonal closed packed (HCP) structure with relatively little slip plane. However, as the molding temperature increases, the formability of the magnesium alloy is greatly improved due to the activation of other additional slip systems, and the flow stress and elongation vary greatly depending on the temperature. In addition, magnesium alloys exhibit asymmetrical behavior, which is different from tensile and compression behavior. In this study, a jig was developed that can measure the plane deformation behavior on the surface of a material in tensile and compression tests of magnesium alloys in warm temperature. A jig was designed to prevent buckling occurring in the compression test by applying a certain pressure to apply it to the tensile and compression tests. And the tensile and compressive behavior of magnesium at each temperature was investigated with the developed jig and DIC equipment. In each experiment, the strain rate condition was set to a quasi-static strain rate of 0.01/s. The transformation temperature is room temperature, 100℃. 150℃, 200℃, 250℃. As a result of the experiment, the flow stress tended to decrease as the temperature increased. The maximum stress decreased by 60% at 250 degrees compared to room temperature. Particularly, work softening occurred above 150 degrees, which is the recrystallization temperature of the magnesium alloy. The elongation also tended to increase as the deformation temperature increased and increased by 60% at 250 degrees compared to room temperature. In the compression experiment, it was confirmed that the maximum stress decreased as the temperature increased.

PURPOSE: This study was performed to investigate the effects of the whole-body vibration exercise combined with ankle joint mobilization on the gait and balancing ability in patients with hemiplegic stroke. METHODS: A total of 19 patients at a rehabilitation hospital who had suffered a hemiplegic stroke were randomly assigned to the experimental group (whole-body vibration exercise combined with ankle joint mobilization, n=10) or control group (whole-body vibration exercise, n=9). All participants underwent 30 min of comprehensive rehabilitation therapy (5 × /week for 6 weeks). Additionally, the experimental group performed the whole body vibration exercise and ankle joint mobilization (15 minutes each, 30 minutes total, 3 × / week for 6 weeks). In the control group, only the whole- body vibration exercise was performed in the same manner and not the ankle joint mobilization. The gait and balancing abilities were measured before and after the 6-week training. RESULTS: Significant improvements were observed in the 10-m walk test, timed up-and-go (TUG) test, center of pressure (COP) path length, and COP path velocity in the experimental group (p < .05). The experimental group showed a larger decrease in the COP path length and velocity than the control group (COP path length, -10.27 mm vs. -3.67 mm, p < .05; COP path velocity, -.33 cm/sec vs. -.13 cm/sec, p < .05, respectively). CONCLUSION: The whole-body vibration exercise combined with ankle joint mobilization could be effective in improving the gait and balancing ability of stroke patients and could also be more effective for improving the static balance ability than the general whole-body vibration exercise alone.
In this study, 1 g shaking table group pile tests were performed for various conditions of subgrade and pile spacing. The pile spacing was changed from three to seven times of pile diameters. It could be confirmed that the dynamic p-y curves for the group pile observed as the results of a series of shaking table tests show difference according to the pile spacing, the pile location within the pile group, the relative density of subgrade and the excess pore pressure during earthquake. The dynamic p-multipliers were calculated by comparing the dynamic p-y backbone curves of a single pile suggested by Yang (2009) and dynamic p-y curves for the group pile. Dynamic p-multiplier values overall increase as the relative density of subgrade and amplitude of input acceleration increase. The dynamic group pile effect was neglected, if the pile spacing was seven times as large as pile diameters. It was found that the exisiting p-multiplier values suggested by various researchers for the static and dynamic loading, and the values recommended by globally used specifications show difference with the test results by up to 0.7 (approximately 70%). Therefore, the dynamic p-multipliers were newly suggested according to the pile spacing and the relative density of subgrade using the test results.

The Gas Regulator EVENT is a signal sent by the Remote Terminal Unit(RTU) installed in each local gas regulator (hereinafter referred to as "regulator"), and is an abnormal alarm that can be intuitively checked in our client server. This is an important data that enables immediate dispatch order and initial action in the situation room when a regolator abnormality occurs, and can analyze the cause of the regulator abnormality. Looking at the trend of EVENT data for regulator over the past three years, there is a clear trend of increasing unchecked EVENT data. The increase in non-checking event (actual abnormality or noise event) may mean that firstly, mechanical or pressure abnormality occurs in the actual regulator, and secondly, there is no abnormality in the actual regulator, but communication error occurred in the RTU, reset. EVENT Data may be formed as if an abnormality occurred in the static voltage due to an error, sensor error, power failure (instantaneous power failure), etc. Among them, this study analyzed the recently generated unchecked EVENT data to identify critical noise events among RTU errors, which are noise events, and reviewed ways to increase the reliability of Regulator EVENTs by reducing them.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of various cements on the retention of casting crown and the cement film thickness. To evaluate the retention of crown, thirty maxillary premolars were used and prepared to largely same dimension. According to the routine method, Non-precious metal crowns were made. The teeth and the metal crowns were divided into three groups and cemented under 5kg static pressure. Group I was composed of 10 teeth and 10 metal crowns and was cemented with zinc phohsphste cement. Group II was composed of 10 teeth and 10 metal crowns and was cemented with Panavia-EX cement. Group III was composed of 10 teeth and 10 metal crowns and was cemented with All-Bond & composite resin cement. After 5 days, the cemented specimens were mounted and the failure loads were measured by an Instron Universal Testing Machine. To evaluate the cement film thickness. 5 metal teeth and 5metal crowns from a prepared maxillary premolar were made. Two marks were flawed on the margin part of each surface at 4-surfaces of each specimen(one mark : crown, the other : metal tooth) and were measured the width with SEM photograph(80 sheets) before and after cementation(Panavia-EX, All-Bond cement, & ZPC) was made. Differences of the widths of marks between before and after were measured, and differences from 4-surfaces of a specimen cemented with a cement were measured and calculated. The results were as follows ; 1. There was a statistically significant difference between the failure loads of group III and the others(p<0.05). 2. There was a statistically significant difference between the cement film thickness of group III and the others(p<0.05).
