  • This paper describes expansion of the state space pole assignment self-tuning control of SISO systems with system noise and abservation noise to that of MIMO systems. Resursive Prediction Error method is used for both parameter and state estimation in the block controllable canonical form. This simplifies the state feedback law by eliminating the online computation of transformation matrix.

  • For determination of black-out area and restoration area by an expert system for fault section estimation and power system restoration using information from circuit breakers, it is necessary that the recognition of system isolation state and a method of finding the change of system isolation state by the state transition of breakers in isolated system. This paper presents a method of resolving the above problem by rule-based approach.

  • This paper proposed a novel high performance sensorless control scheme for IPMSM based on an extended nonlinear state observer. The gain-matrix of the observer has been derived by using state linearization method. Steady state errors in estimated rotor position and speed due to parameter inaccuracy have been analyzed, and an equivalent flux error is defined to represent the overall effect of parameter errors contributing to the wrong convergence of the estimated rotor speed as well as rotor position. Then, an online compensation strategy was proposed to limit the estimation errors in rotor position and speed. The effectiveness of the extended nonlinear state observer is validated through simulation and experimental test.

  • Photochromic lens의 광감성 평가 방법을 만들고, 이를 적용시키기 위하여 Photochromic lens에 UV light source을 조사하였다. UV light 광원을 조사 전과 후의 darkening과 fading 상태의 transmittance(T%)의 파장 의존성을 spectrophotometer, light source, power meter, detecter로 구성된 광학적 장치로 측정한다. 조사 직전의 최대 $T%{\times}{\lambda}$ 면적과 saturated state면적의 상대적 비율을 이용한다. Photochromic lens에서 조사시간 의존성의 평가는 darkening 효율도 ($K_d$)값 ($(1-C_1/A_1)/t_{on}$과 fading 효율도($K_f$)값 ($(C_2/A_2)/t_{on}$을 도입하였다. Darkening과 fading 상태에서 transmittance(T%)의 파장의존성은 $T_m+T_1{\exp}[-(x_0-t)/a]$의 형태를 갖는다. Photochromic lens에서 광감성의 평가 parameter Z, $K_d$, $K_f$를 적용한 결과 각 평가 지수 값을 얻을 수 있다.

Fast Random-Forest-Based Human Pose Estimation Using a Multi-scale and Cascade Approach

  • Since the recent launch of Microsoft Xbox Kinect, research on 3D human pose estimation has attracted a lot of attention in the computer vision community. Kinect shows impressive estimation accuracy and real-time performance on massive graphics processing unit hardware. In this paper, we focus on further reducing the computation complexity of the existing state-of-the-art method to make the real-time 3D human pose estimation functionality applicable to devices with lower computing power. As a result, we propose two simple approaches to speed up the random-forest-based human pose estimation method. In the original algorithm, the random forest classifier is applied to all pixels of the segmented human depth image. We first use a multi-scale approach to reduce the number of such calculations. Second, the complexity of the random forest classification itself is decreased by the proposed cascade approach. Experiment results for real data show that our method is effective and works in real time (30 fps) without any parallelization efforts.

Doubly-Selective Channel Estimation for OFDM Systems Using a Pilot-Embedded Training Scheme

  • Channel estimation and data detection for OFDM systems over time- and frequency-selective channels are investigated. Relying on the complex exponential basis expansion channel model, a pilot-embedded channel estimation scheme with low computational complexity and spectral efficiency is proposed. A periodic pilot sequence is superimposed at a low power on information bearing sequence at the transmitter before modulation and transmission. The channel state information(CSI) can be estimated using the first-order statistics of the received data. In order to enhance the performance of channel estimation, we recover the transmitted data which can be exploited to estimate CSI iteratively. Simulation results show that the proposed method is suitable for doubly-selective channel estimation for the OFDM systems and the performance of the proposed method can be better than that of the Wiener filter method under some conditions. Through simulations, we also analyze the factors which can affect the system performances.

  • The problem of mathematical model for an unknown system by measureing its input-output data pairs is generally referred to as state estimates. The state estimation problem is often of importance in its own right since we may want to know the value of the states. For instance, in navigation, we may take noisy positional fixes using satelite or radar navigation, and the estimator can use these measurements to provide accurate estimates of current position, hedaing, and velocity. And the state estimates can also be used for control purposes. Then it is very important to know the state of plant. In this paper, the theory of the minimization of a loss function was used to design the fuzzy system. Here, the used teory is Least Square Esimation method. This parametrization has the Linear in the parameters charcteristic that allows standard parameter estimation technique to be used to estimate the parameters of the fuzzy system. The combination of the fuzzy system and the estimation m thod then performs as a nonlinear estimator. If several fuzzy label are defined for the input variables at the antecedent part, the fuzzy system then behaves as a collection of nonlinear estimators where different regions of rules have different parameters. In simulation results, the fuzzy model controlled a difference in the structure between the actual plant and the fuzzy estimator. It is also proved that the fuzzy system is equivalent to its transformed system. therefore we was able to get the state space equation of system with the estimated paramater.

부하가 불규칙하게 분포된 배전선로의 전압추정 방법 (Voltage Estimation Method for Distribution Line with Irregularly Dispersed Load)

  • Most of the applications for distribution system operation highly rely on the voltage and current managements from the field devices. Voltage from the remote controlled switch contains unacceptably large measurement error due to the nonlinear characteristics of the bushing potential transformer. This paper proposes a new voltage magnitude estimation method by calculating voltage drop using current measurement, line impedance and loads deployment data. Contract demand power and pole transformer capacity managed by NDIS are used as a key element to improve accuracy of the proposed method. Various case studies using Matlab simulation have been performed to verify feasibility of the propose voltage estimation method.

  • Motion Estimation which is used to reduce the redundant data plays an important role in video compressions. However, it requires huge computational complexity of the encoder part. And therefore many fast motion estimation methods has been developed to reduce complexity. Multi-view video is obtained by using many cameras at different positions and its complexity increases in proportion to the number of cameras. In this paper, we proposed a fast motion estimation method for multi-view video. The proposed method predicts a search start point by using correlated candidate vectors of the current block. According to the motion size of the start search point, a search start pattern of the current block is decided adaptively. The proposed method proves to be about 2 ~ 5 times faster than existing methods while maintaining similar image quality and bitrates.

  • The design of a measurement system to perform Harmonic State Estimation (HSE) is a very complex problem. Among the reasons for its complexity are the system size, conflicting requirements of estimator accuracy, reliability in the presence of transducer noise and data communication failures, adaptability to change in the network topology and cost minimization. In particular, the number of harmonic instruments available is always limited. Therefore, a systematic procedure is needed to design the optimal placement of measurement points. This paper presents a new HSE algorithm which is based on an optimal placement of measurement points using Genetic Algorithms (GAs) which is widely used in areas such as: optimization of the objective function, learning of neural networks, tuning of fuzzy membership functions, machine learning, system identification and control. This HSE has been applied to the Simulation Test Power System for the validation of the new HSE algorithm. The study results have indicated an economical and effective method for optimal placement of measurement points using Genetic Algorithms (GAs) in the Harmonic State Estimation (HSE).
