  • This study was intended to observe strategic fashion-presentation in Music stars according to the change of the star system in the Korean popular musics. The Korean Music stars since 1990s have been made, fabricated and have excessively depended on the demand of the teenagers. Therefore their distinctive fashion-presentation is considered as more important element than those of the past. Consequently. the characteristics of the fashion-presentation in the Korean Music star these days are as follows : First. Music stars shows fashion-presentation that has a consistent fashion theme. That is one of the key success factor to raise the recognition of star singer. Second. Music star produces fashion images which reflects identity and of subculture. Those appearance have won wild popularity of the Peeps 1990's new generation. Third. although there is no change music genre and emotion. through merely renovation of their fashion image, Music star got diversity and originality of the characteristics of contemporary cultural goods. Fourth. In case of famous dance groups, in the past they maintained a singular atmosphere as a group, but in 1990'Music star group each members of the group have individually fashion-presentation. So, they can get more fans. Fifth, Music singers borrow or duplicate fashion-presentation from each others. Such as similar fashion-presentation guarantees support of the same fans.

  • We present the results of visual double stars speckle observations from 2013 using a Zeiss Double Refractor 60 cm with visual focal length f = 1,078 cm, and CCD SBIG ST-402 MEA. A Bessel V filter with ${\lambda}=550nm$ was placed in front of the CCD camera to reduce the chromatic aberration of the objective lens. The objects selected for this observation were calibration candidates and program stars with separations ranging from 0.9-6 arc second, and were located in both the northern and southern hemispheres. Seeing at Bosscha Observatory is generally 1-2 arc second, imposing a limit on visual double star separation below which the system cannot be resolved by long exposure imaging (longer than ~50 ms). Speckle interferometry methods are used to resolve double stars with separations below the typical size of seeing effects. A series of images were captured in fast short-time exposures (~50 ms) using a CCD camera. The result of our experiment shows that our system can be used to measure separations of 0.9 arc second (for systems with small ${\Delta}m$) and ${\Delta}m{\approx}3.7$ (for wide systems).

  • New methods are developed to estimate the effective temperature (Te), surface gravity (log g), and metallicity ([A/H]) simultaneously with the spectral line depth ratios. Using the model atmosphere grids, depth values are calculated for the wavelength range of $4000{\AA}-5600{\AA}$ for various temperatures, gravities, and metallicities. All possible different combinations of line depth ratios for different pairs of ratios are investigated. A graphical 3D figure is produced with X, Y, and Z axes corresponding to Te, log g, and [A/H], respectively. By reading a cross point of two curves plotted by a connection of three parameters obtained from spectral line depth ratio pairs on each of the three projected planes, Te, log g, and [A/H] are determined simultaneously. In addition, an analytical method is devised based on the similar algorithm developed for the graphical method. Our methods were applied to estimate the fundamental atmospheric parameters of the Sun and Arcturus.

  • We have investigated the numerical methods to calculate model atmosphere for the analysis of spectral lines emitted from the sun and stars. Basic equations used in our calculations are radiative transfer, statistical equilibrium and charge-particle conservations. Transfer equation has been solved to get emitting spectral line profile as an initial value problem using Adams-Bashforth-Moulton method with accuracy as high as 12th order. And we have calculated above non linear differential equations simultaneously as a boundary value problem by finite difference method of 3 points approximation through Feautrier elimination scheme. It is found that all computing programs coded by above numerical methods work successfully for our model atmosphere.

  • In order to increase the completeness of the investigations of stellar abundances, we can use spectrum synthesis method, new atomic data and observation of stellar spectra with resolution comparable to solar spectral atlases. We made a brief review of main problems of these three ways. We present new results of abundance determinations in the atmospheres of four stars. The first is the implementation of new atomic data to well known Przybylski's star. We show that the number of spectral lines, which can be identificated in the spectrum of this star, can be significantly higher. The second example is the investigation of $\zeta$ Cyg. We found the abundances of 51 elements in the atmosphere of this mild barium star. The third example is halo star HD221170. Our preliminary abundance pattern consists of 42 elements. The heaviest elements in this pattern are U and Th. The last star is the spectroscopic binary HD153720. The number of elements investigated in the spectra of components of this star is not large, but the results show that the components are Am-stars.

  • Observation of standard stars is of crucial importance in stellar photometry. We have studied the standard transformation relations of the UBV RI CCD photometric system at the Maidanak Astronomical Observatory in Uzbekistan. All observations were made with the AZT-22 1.5m telescope, SITe 2k CCD or Fairchild 486 CCD, and standard Bessell UBV RI filters from 2003 August to 2007 September. We observed many standard stars around the celestial equator observed by SAAO astronomers. The atmospheric extinction coefficients, photometric zero points, and time variation of photometric zero points of each night were determined. Secondary extinction coefficients and photometric zero points were very stable, while primary extinction coefficients showed a distinct seasonal variation. We also determined the transformation coefficients for each filter. For B, V, R, and I filters, the transformation to the SAAO standard system could be achieved with a straight line or a combination of two straight lines. However, in the case of the U filter and Fairchild 486 CCD combination, a significant non-linear correction term - related to the size of Balmer jump or the strength of the Balmer lines - of up to 0:08 mags was required. We found that our data matched well the SAAO photometry in V, B - V, V - I, and R - I. But in U - B, the difference in zero point was about 3.6 mmag and the scatter was about 0.02 mag. We attribute the relatively large scatter in U -B to the larger error in U of the SAAO photometry. We confirm the mostly small differences between the SAAO standard UBV RI system and the Landolt standard system. We also attempted to interpret the seasonal variation of the atmospheric extinction coefficients in the context of scattering sources in the earth's atmosphere.

  • $H_2O$ maser emission at 22 GHz in the circumstellar envelope is one of the good tracers of detailed physics and kinematics in the mass loss process of asymptotic giant branch stars. Long-term monitoring of an $H_2O$ maser spectrum with high time resolution enables us to clarify acceleration processes of the expanding shell in the stellar atmosphere. We monitored the $H_2O$ maser emission of the semi-regular variable R Crt with the Kagoshima 6-m telescope, and obtained a large data set of over 180 maser spectra over a period of 1.3 years with an observational span of a few days. Using an automatic peak detection method based on least-squares fitting, we exhaustively detected peaks as significant velocity components with the radial velocity on a $0.1kms^{-1}$ scale. This analysis result shows that the radial velocity of red-shifted and blue-shifted components exhibits a change between acceleration and deceleration on the time scale of a few hundred days. These velocity variations are likely to correlate with intensity variations, in particular during flaring state of $H_2O$ masers. It seems reasonable to consider that the velocity variation of the maser source is caused by shock propagation in the envelope due to stellar pulsation. However, it is difficult to explain the relationship between the velocity variation and the intensity variation only from shock propagation effects. We found that a time delay of the integrated maser intensity with respect to the optical light curve is about 150 days.

  • We investigate ${\rho}$ Pup using the high resolution spectral observations taken from the VLT archive and observations at a 1.8m-Korean telescope with BOES spectrograph. The atmospheric parameters are determined using the iron-line abundance analysis. We derive an effective temperature value of $T_{eff}=6890{\pm}250K$, surface gravity of log g=$3.28{\pm}0.3$ dex, microturbulent velocity of ${\upsilon}_{micro}=4.1{\pm}0.4km\;s^{-1}$, and the iron abundance of log N=$7.82{\pm}0.15$. The projected rotational velocity of the star is close to ${\upsilon}$ sin i=3.5km $s^{-1}$. Asymmetric line profiles in the observed spectra and variation of this asymmetry with time show that both strong radial pulsation and weak non-radial pulsations are present in ${\rho}$ Pup.

  • Although the theory of stellar structure and evolution is considered one of the most successful developments in astrophysics, there still remains a significant mismatch between theoretical stellar models and the observed main sequence of the best studied nearby open clusters. To ease the tension, empirical corrections to the color-temperature transformations are used as a simple, but practical way of overcoming the difficulty than directly examining stellar atmosphere models that have large theoretical complexities and uncertainties. I will describe our continuing effort to calibrate stellar isochrones using cool main-sequence stars in Praesepe, complementing our previous work based on the Hyades and the Pleiades, and provide an extensive test of our models using photometry of cool and metal-rich main-sequence stars in NGC 6791. Finally, I will discuss the implication of our results on the mass loss in NGC 6791.

  • Since the first proposal by Paczynski, great efforts to detect Galactic dark matter by detecting light variations of stars located in the Magellanic Clouds and Galactic bulge caused by gravitational microlensing have been and are being carried out and more than 1,000 events have been successfully detected. In this paper, we review the progress in the theoretical and experimental progresses in microlensing. We begin with basics of microlensing and summarize the results obtained from the last 8 year observations along with the implications of the results. We also discuss the usefulness of microlensing in other fields of astronomy such as the stellar atmosphere, Galactic binary systems, and extra-solar planets. We finally discuss the problems of the current experiments and the new types of observations that can overcome these problems.
