  • Micro channel is to fabricate desired pattern on the polymer substrate by pressing the patterned mold against the substrate which is heated above the glass transition temperature, and it is a high throughput fabrication method for bio chip, optical microstructure, etc. due to the simultaneous large area patterning. However, the bad pattern fidelity in large area patterning is one of the obstacles to applying the hot embossing technology for mass production. In the present study, stamper of cross channel with width $100{\mu}m$ and height $50{\mu}m$ was manufactured using UV-LiGA process. Micro channel was manufactured using stamper manufactured in this study. Also replicability appliance was evaluated for micro channel and factors affected replicability were investigated using Taguchi method.

  • In this paper, we adopted E-MOLD patent technology in order to fabricate Prismless LGP(Light Guide Panel) fur cellular phone and estimate the transcription of injection-molded parts. Then, we manufactured the Ni stamper fur Prismless LGP using MEMS process. And the stamper was installed in the movable heated core which is the key part of a patented mold. Using this mold, we manufactured injection-molded plastic LGP parts with different mold temperatures so that we investigate effect of the temperature on the transcription of the parts. The CAE analysis was also conducted in order to compare with the experimental results. The transcription of LGP parts with various mold temperature displayed $100^{\circ}C$(25.0nm), $140^{\circ}C$(48.4nm), $180^{\circ}C$(52.1nm) and when compared with stamper(521Inm), transcription was superior at $180^{\circ}C$. According to the CAE results, moldability was improved as mold temperature ($50^{\circ}C{\sim}180^{\circ}C$) increased, but when filling time($1{\sim}2sec$) increases, it decreased at $160^{\circ}C$. And transcription and moldability were improved markedly at glass transition temperature($140^{\circ}C$).

  • We developed the stamper structured mold with moving core type with nano pattern. Among the factors affecting the quality of injection molding plastic parts, We studied the effects of moving core surface heating method on the transcription of injection molding plastic parts with nano structures. Moving core surface heating has been tested by three different methods. The first was conventional injection molding process without heating moving core surface, the second was halogen lamp radiation heating process and the last was MmSH process using gas flame. As a result of making injection molded parts by using thermoplastic amorphous resins such as COC, PMMA, MmSH method which is the most high temperature of moving core surface showed the best nano pattern transcription of the three methods, but the outcome of conventional injection molding process was not better than others.

  • Recently the sub-micron structured substrates of 0.74 ${mu}ell$ track pitch and 800 $\AA$groove depth are required for DVD-RAM and the track pitch is expected to be narrower as the need for the information storage density is getting higher. For the accurate replication of the land-groove structure in the stamper to the plastic substrates it is important to control the injection -compression molding process such that the integrity of the replication for the land-groove structure is maximized. in the present study polycarbonate substrates were fabricated by injection comression molding and the land-groove structure regarded as one of mold temperature and the compression pressure on the integrity of the replication were examined experimentally. An efficient design methodology using the response surface method (RSM) the central composite design(CCD) technique and the analysis-of-variance (ANOVA) was developed to obtain the optimum processing conditions which maximize the integrity of the replication with a limited number of experiments.

  • In this paper, a mold temperature control method for injection molding is proposed. The inner surface of mold is locally heated by jet impingement to improve pattern transcription. Heating by hot jet is completed while the mold is open. An experimental system that realizes the proposed idea has been built, which includes mold, nozzle assembly and heater. Actual injection molding process including the proposed heating procedure has been conducted to verify the validity of the method. The process has been done for several conditions with different jet temperatures and duration of heating. The results from different conditions are compared.

  • Injection molding using plastic materials was expected to mass production of structure with nano pattern for low cost phase. The PDMS mold was produced easily and uniformly by using thermal embossing. Quartz master for embossing method was made using electron beam lithography it had 100-500 nm size of line and dot type. The PDMS mold was produced after a brief hardening process and the master removal. The results show that various patterns are successfully fabricated the nano scale.. The replicated mold would be useful a stamper fabrication for injection molding.

제작된 father, mother 니켈스탬퍼 윗면의 나노패턴 형상을 FE-SEM(Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope)으로 확인하였다.
