The community structure of benthic macroinvertebrates in Upo wetland was identified, and the biological water quality was evaluated. In addition, through statistical analysis of current and literature data, ecological changes over time were evaluated for each wetland. Benthos were quantitatively collected in March, June, and September of 2020 and 2021, and 4 phyla, 5 classes, 16 orders, 42 families, 81 species and 3,406 individuals were identified. In the functional feeding group of Upo wetland, predators were dominant with 34 species (45.95%) and 1,504 individuals (41.84%). In the habitual dwelling group, sprawlers and swimmers showed the highest proportion in the number of species and individuals. Average biological indices in Mokpo and Upo were the highest and lowest, respectively, and it is considered that Mokpo maintains the healthy ecosystem for benthic macroinvertebrates. Community stability was high in Upo, and other wetlands are thought to be stabilizing. The ecological score of benthic macroinvertebrate community is considered to be more suitable index among three biological water quality evaluation indices for the environmental evaluation of Upo wetland. The evaluation results on changes in environmental quality showed that Upo has stable ecosystem without significant change, Mokpo and Sajipo have significant increases in some indices.

Wavefront-coding imaging can achieve high-quality imaging along with a wide range of defocus. In this paper, the anti-laser detection and damage performance of wavefront-coding imaging systems using different asymmetric phase masks are studied, through modeling and simulation. Based on FresnelKirchhoff diffraction theory, the laser-propagation model of the wavefront-coding imaging system is established. The model uses defocus distance rather than wave aberration to characterize the degree of defocus of an imaging system. Then, based on a given defocus range, an optimization method based on Fisher information is used to determine the optimal phase-mask parameters. Finally, the anti-laser detection and damage performance of asymmetric phase masks at different defocus distances and propagation distances are simulated and analyzed. When studying the influence of defocus distance, compared to conventional imaging, the maximum single-pixel receiving power and echo-detection receiving power of asymmetric phase masks are reduced by about one and two orders of magnitude respectively. When exploring the influence of propagation distance, the maximum single-pixel receiving power of asymmetric phase masks decreases by about one order of magnitude and remains stable, and the echodetection receiving power gradually decreases with increasing propagation distance, until it approaches zero.
This study suggests an improvement for stable and effective management of the Compliance Program of strategic trade(CP) by comparing and analyzing the program and other similar systems in Korea, the authorized economic operator(AEO) system and the Fair Trade Compliance Program. To improve the CP, training requirements should be materialized, evaluation of companies' ability to judge strategic materials should be intensified, and incentives should be offered to the companies that actively adopt the program. Moreover, the current designation system should be changed to the designation-after-registration system to strengthen and spread out the CP, and the follow-up management should be reinforced for successful management of the program.
Characterization as well as prediction of the secondary and tertiary structure of hypothetical proteins from their amino acid sequences uploaded in databases by in silico approach are the critical issues in computational biology. Severe acute respiratory syndrome-associated coronavirus (SARS-CoV), which is responsible for pneumonia alike diseases, possesses a wide range of proteins of which many are still uncharacterized. The current study was conducted to reveal the physicochemical characteristics and structures of an uncharacterized protein Q6S8D9_SARS of SARS-CoV. Following the common flowchart of characterizing a hypothetical protein, several sophisticated computerized tools e.g., ExPASy Protparam, CD Search, SOPMA, PSIPRED, HHpred, etc. were employed to discover the functions and structures of Q6S8D9_SARS. After delineating the secondary and tertiary structures of the protein, some quality evaluating tools e.g., PROCHECK, ProSA-web etc. were performed to assess the structures and later the active site was identified also by CASTp v.3.0. The protein contains more negatively charged residues than positively charged residues and a high aliphatic index value which make the protein more stable. The 2D and 3D structures modeled by several bioinformatics tools ensured that the proteins had domain in it which indicated it was functional protein having the ability to trouble host antiviral inflammatory cytokine and interferon production pathways. Moreover, active site was found in the protein where ligand could bind. The study was aimed to unveil the features and structures of an uncharacterized protein of SARS-CoV which can be a therapeutic target for development of vaccines against the virus. Further research are needed to accomplish the task.
Despite the increasing applicability of rock grouting as a method for strengthening or disaster prevention by improving the stability of ground, criteria for planning parameters which can be used as minimum guideline are required since the current practice is mainly dependent on experience. In this study, the fundamental criteria for important parameters of rock grouting in terms of injection conditions such as water-cement ratio, injecting pressure, cement take and resulting effects such as deformation modulus and permeability are proposed. Those criteria are the results of analyses of a series of hydraulic fracturing tests and Lugeon tests, in-situ grouting tests at 17 sites in Korea and other countries, combined with the literature analyses of standards and previous research. In addition, the method for modifying proposed criteria according to water-cement ratio is also addressed since that in Korean practice is too high and therefore, should be adjusted to satisfy the conditions of balanced stable grouting. The results of this study can be used as a fundamental reference for more refined research in the future although they are still somewhat experience-dependent.
In this paper, accidents in high-voltage overhead distribution lines, which provide stable power supply in the power system, cause inconvenience in life and disruption of production of companies. 22.9 [kV] high-voltage overhead power distribution lines aim to improve reliability and stability, such as damage caused by rain, snow, wind, etc., or electric shock prevention. Therefore, in order to prevent wire disconnection accidents due to deterioration of electrical conductivity or tensile strength due to corrosion of overhead distribution lines, it is necessary to prevent unexpected accidents in the future through regular inspection and repair. In order to diagnose deterioration due to corrosion of distribution lines, a diagnostic system (measuring instrument) is installed on the wires to monitor the condition of the wires. The manager on the ground receives the measured data through ZigBee wireless communication, controls the diagnosis system through the diagnosis system program, and grasps the condition of the overhead distribution line through the measured data and photographed photos, and predicts the life of the wire along with the visual inspection method. developed a program.

Since 1992, the Rural Development Administration (RDA), Republic of Korea in collaboration with International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) has developed 6 japonica rice varieties(MS11, Japonica 1, 2, 6, 7 and Cordillera 4) that are adaptable to tropical regions. However, these varieties show moderate resistance or susceptibility to certain biotic and abiotic stress. The development of varieties with more stable forms of resistance is highly desirable, and this could be possibly achieved through rapid introgression of known biotic and abiotic resistant genes. In this study, we analyzed the allele types of major biotic stress resistant genes including Xa5, Xa13, Xa21 and Xa25 for bacterial leaf blight, Pi5, Pi40, Pish and Pita2 for blast, tsv1 for rice tungro spherical virus, and Bph6, Bph9, Bph17, Bph18 and Bph32 for brown planthopper by using gene-specific molecular markers. In addition, seed quality related genes Sdr4 for preharvest sprouting and qLG-9 for seed longevity were also analyzed. The results revealed that2h5 and Xa25 resistance alleles showed in all varieties while Pi5 resistance allele showed only in MS11. The Pish resistance allele were present in five varieties except for Japonica 1. Meanwhile, for the rest of the genes, no presence of resistance alleles found in six varieties. In conclusions, most of tropical japonica varieties are lack of the major biotic stress resistant genes and seed quality genes (Sdr4 and qLG-9). Moreover, the results indicated that rapid deployment of a few major genes in the current tropical japonica rice varieties is urgent to increase durability and spectrum of biotic stress resistance and also seed dormancy/longevity which are essential traits for tropical environments.

This paper includes the development and operational status of the space object collision risk management system operated by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute. Currently, it monitors 6 low-orbit satellites and 3 geostationary satellites for collision risks 24 hours, enabling prompt collision avoidance maneuvers to ensure safe and stable operations. Since Chinese anti-satellite test (ASAT) in 2007, the monitoring of collision risks between space objects and operational satellites has been taken seriously, leading to the development of various collision risk management systems to respond quickly and efficiently to such situations. This paper provides an introduction to the space object collision risk management system developed from 2007 to the present, the current status of artificial space objects around Earth, and the system currently in operation. Additionally, it outlines future prospects and plans for the system.

The metal bush assembling process is a process of inserting and compressing a metal bush that serves to reduce the occurrence of noise and stable compression in the rotating section. In the metal bush assembly process, the head diameter defect and placement defect of the metal bush occur due to metal bush omission, non-pressing, and poor press-fitting. Among these causes of defects, it is intended to prevent defects due to omission of the metal bush by using signals from sensors attached to the facility. In particular, a metal bush omission is predicted through various data mining techniques using left load cell value, right load cell value, current, and voltage as independent variables. In the case of metal bush omission defect, it is difficult to get defect data, resulting in data imbalance. Data imbalance refers to a case where there is a large difference in the number of data belonging to each class, which can be a problem when performing classification prediction. In order to solve the problem caused by data imbalance, oversampling and composite sampling techniques were applied in this study. In addition, simulated annealing was applied for optimization of parameters related to sampling and hyper-parameters of data mining techniques used for bush omission prediction. In this study, the metal bush omission was predicted using the actual data of M manufacturing company, and the classification performance was examined. All applied techniques showed excellent results, and in particular, the proposed methods, the method of mixing Random Forest and SA, and the method of mixing MLP and SA, showed better results.
We investigated the wind characteristics in the near-surface layer during the landfall of Typhoon Mujigae (2015) based on observations from wind towers in the coastal areas of Guandong province. Typhoon Mujigae made landfall in this region from 01:00 UTC to 10:00 UTC on October 4, 2015. In the region influenced by the eyewall of the tropical cyclone, the horizontal wind speed was characterized by a double peak, the wind direction changed by >180°, the vertical wind speed increased by three to four times, and the angle of attack increased significantly to a maximum of 7°, exceeding the recommended values in current design criteria. The vertical wind profile may not conform to a power law distribution in the near-surface layer in the region impacted by the eyewall and spiral rainband. The gust factors were relatively dispersed when the horizontal wind speed was small and tended to a smaller value and became more stable with an increase in the horizontal wind speed. The variation in the gust factors was the combined result of the height, wind direction, and circulation systems of the tropical cyclone. The turbulence intensity and the downwind turbulence energy spectrum both increased notably in the eyewall and spiral rainband and no longer satisfied the assumption of isotropy in the inertial subrange and the -5/3 law. This result was more significant in the eyewall area than in the spiral rainband. These results provide a reference for forecasting tropical cyclones, wind-resistant design, and hazard prevention in coastal areas of China to reduce the damage caused by high winds induced by tropical cyclones.
