  • Aluminum and hydrogen doped zinc oxide (AZHO) films were prepared by r.f. magnetron sputtering. The structural, electrical, and optical properties of the AHZO films were investigated in terms of the annealing conditions to study the thermal stability. The XRD measurements revealed that the degree of c-axis orientation was decreased and the crystallintiy of the films was deteriorated by the heat treatment. The electrical resistivity was significantly increased when the films were annealed at higher temperature. Although the optical transmittance of AHZO films didn't highly changed by heat treatment, the optical band gap was reduced, regardless of annealing temperature and duration. The thermal stability of AHZO films was worse compared to AZO films.

  • The field emitters were fabricated by screen-printing of carbon nanotube paste, and their emission stabilities were evaluated. It was found that the emission stability measured in a sealed device is much higher than that measured in a vacuum chamber in spite of similar pressure. This was because oxygen gas was scarcely remained in the sealed device, while the gas is continuously supplied into the vacuum chamber during the stability measurement. It was found that the plasma treatment etched the protruded CNTs, resulting in the uniform height of CNT tips. As a result, the stability was increased remarkably. It was also found that the stability of CNT paste emitter was improved by electrical aging and that the optimum condition for the aging was varied with the size of emitter.

  • Purpose: In this study, the effects of stability exercise, extracorporeal shock wave therapy, and taping on pain and function in patients with myofascial pain syndrome of upper trapezius were compared. Methods: The subjects were divided into the stability exercise, ESWT and the taping treatment group and the clinical outcomes were evaluated by visual analog scale (VAS), pressure pain threshold (PPT) and a constant-murley scale (CMS) at pre-treatment and post-treatment. Paired t-test and ANOVA was used for statistical analysis. Results: All groups were statistical significance in the change in visual analog scale (p<0.05). The difference between the ESWT group and taping group was statistical significance in the change in pressure pain threshold (p<0.05) except for the taping group. Using the constant-murley scale, the stability exercise group showed a significant decrease in pain, and a significant increase in ROM, ADL, strength, total score of shoulder (p<0.05); however, the ESWT group showed no difference on ADL. In addition, there was no difference in strength for the taping group. The comparison of the effect between the stability exercise group, ESWT group and taping group in CMS showed a statistical significant difference in pain, ADL and ROM (p<0.05). Conclusion: These results indicate that stability exercise, ESWT and taping could be considered an effective and efficient treatment modality for myofascial pain syndrome of upper trapezius.

  • This study was carried out to estimate the property of dimensional stability of heat compression of italian poplar wood with low density. Firstly, two levels of pressure conditions were applied using the closed and open-press system. The thermal treatment temperatures were 180℃ and 200℃, respectively. Water absorption tests were conducted in water bath at 25℃ and 100℃ for 35 hours and 1 hour, respectively. The compression rates of wood were 47 percent, 60 percent, and 73 percent, respectively. From these tests, it was found that the dimensional stability of the closed-press system was superior to that of the open-press system. Furthermore, the dimensional stability of compressed wood in the closed-press system was better at 200℃ than 180℃. In compression rate, dimensional stability of 73 percent compression rate was the best result. Considering these results, the best conditions for the dimensional stability of compressed wood were those of the closed-compressing system at high temperatures above 200℃ and larger compression rate. Therefore, it was concluded that the dimensional stability of wood is improved at higher temperature and larger deformation.

  • Purpose: This study was done to develop and evaluate a smartphone application for the medication confirmation of high-alert medications. Methods: A nonequivalent control group non-synchronized design was used for this study. Participants in the treatment group used the application for four weeks. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, ${\chi}^2$-test, and t-test for the homogeneity of participants, and a paired t-test for effectiveness in each group with the SPSS 18.0. Results: Stability of medication administration was estimated by knowledge and certainty, ranged from a score of one to three. A correct answer with high certainty was coded as high stability, low certainty regardless of correct answer was coded as a moderate stability, and incorrect answers with high certainty were rated as low stability. There were no differences in 'knowledge of high alert medication', 'Certainty of knowledge', 'stability of medication administration', 'confidence of single checking medication', and 'medication safety activities' between the treatment group and the comparison group. The treatment group reported a greater difference between pretest and post-test in 'certainty of medication knowledge' (t=3.51, p=.001) than the comparison group. Conclusion: Smartphone application for medication confirmation of high-alert medications will provide an important platform for reducing medication errors risk.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the foaming properties of two small red bean protein isolates at various conditions. Data concerning the effects of pH, temperature, MaCl concentration, sugar concentration and protein concentration on the properties such as solubility, foam expansion, foam stability were presented. The results were summarized as follows : 1. The crude protein contents of two small red beans were 26.14% and 22.71%. The percentage of nonpolar amino acid group was the highest and that of sulfur containing amino acid group was the lowest. 2. Protein solubility showed the minimum at pH 4.5 which is isoelectric point of small red bean protein isolate adn heat treatment lowered solubility(P<0.05). At pH 4.5, solubility increased sighificantly as 0.4M NaCl was added. However, the effect of sugar concentration in the solubility was not significant. 3. Foam expansion of two small red bean protein isolates was high at pH 4.5 and heat treatment at 10$0^{\circ}C$ lowered foam expansion(P<0.05). While addition of NaCl, sugar did not affect the foma expansion, gradual increment of the protein isolates concentration up to 9% decreased the foma expansion slightly. 4. Foam stability was significantly high at pH 4.5 and heat treatment at 10$0^{\circ}C$ lowered foam stability. Addition of sugar caused slight decrease in foam stability. From 1% to 9% suspension, foma stability increased significantly as protein concentration increased(P<0.05)

  • Hantaan virus vaccine was developed in 1988 and proved effective. This vaccine is a kind of inactivated vaccine, stable for two years when stored at $2-8^{\circ}C$. Almost virus vaccines including Hantaan virus vaccine are produced and kept in fluid state, and the immumogenicity can be easily destroyed at room temperature or at higher temperature. Therefore the vaccines should be kept in the refrigerator to maintain the immunogenicity. In this study, glucose and/or lactose was added as a stabilizer into Hantaan virus vaccine to increase the stability and dried in vaccum with ethanol treatment. 5% glucose and or lactose in Hantaan virus vaccine most effectively increased the stability of vaccine and maintained the immunogenicity at least for three months at room temperature. But drying with ethanol treatment did not help increasing the stability. These results suggest that glucose and lactose could be good stabilizer of virus vaccines.

  • It is known that heat treatment decreases the hygroscopicity of wood. Thus heat-treated wood is good for outdoor construction due to its improved dimensional stability. This study is to investigate the hygroscopicity and discoloration of spruce and birch boards heat-treated above $190^{\circ}C$. The equilibrium moisture contents (EMCs) at all relative humidities decreased with the increase of heat treatment temperature and/or time for both spruce and birch. It was revealed that heat-treatment temperature affected more on the hygroscopicity thaan heat-treatment time. The average basic densities decreased for the spruce specimens, but increased for the birch specimens with an increase of the treatment time and/or temperature. The same heat treatment condition (190-8) made the birch specimens darker than the spruce specimens.
