  • In this paper, we propose the heuristic signal grouping algorithm to estimate channel state value over full blind communication situation which means that there is no information about the modulation scheme and the channel state information between the transmitter and the receiver. Hereafter, using the constellation rotation method and the probability density function(pdf) the modulation scheme is determined to perform automatic modulation classification(AMC). Furthermore, the modulation type and a channel state value estimation capability is evaluated by comparing the proposed scheme with other conventional techniques from the simulation results in terms of the symbol error rate(SER) and the root mean square error (RMSE).

  • Mathematics is one of the subjects in which learners seriously experience under-achievements in school education. Middle school level mathematics especially plays such a role as a bridge between elementary level informal mathematics and high school level formal mathematics that learners' under-achievements in the middle school level mathematics may yield more serious under-achievements later. Therefore it is crucial to prevent learners' later under-achievements that we analyze the status of under achievements including analysing various under-achievers' errors in the middle school level mathematics. From this point of view, we analysed errors of mathematics under-achievers in understanding the concept of the square root of positive numbers and related calculations in this paper. As the results of our research, we found some unexpected errors of 'some mathematics under-achievers regarding the mathematical symbol ${\surd}$ of square root as a parenthesis ( ), and others interpret $x=-2{\pm}{\sqrt{10}}$ as x=-2 or ${\pm}{\sqrt{10}}$.' that suggest the necessity of more various and in-depth discussions and researches of analysis on learners' errors and misconceptions in all areas of school mathematics.

  • This paper presents a method of designing hybrid analog/asymmetrical square-root (SR) FIR filters. In addition to the conventional frequency domain constraints, the proposed method considers time-domain constraints as well, including the inter-symbol interference (ISI) and the opening of the eye pattern at the receiver output. This paper also reviews a systematic way to find the discrete-time equivalence of analog parts in a band-limited digital communication system. Thus, a phase equalizer can be easily realized to compensate for the nonlinear phase responses of the analog components. With the hybrid analog/SR FIR filter co-design, examples show that using the proposed method can result in a more robust ISI performance in the presence of the receiver clock jitter.

  • In this paper, we analyzed performance of a symbol timing recovery scheme for 16QAM Radio system. As a symbol timing recovery scheme, both maximum amplitude method(MAM) and wave difference method(WDM) are analyzed employing a pulse shaping filter, such as raised cosine filter(RCF) and nonlinear filter(NLF). Simulation result shows that the jitter performance of MAM or WDM using NLF is better than that using square root RCF. In order to estimate and compensate for the Rayleigh fading PSAM(Pilot Symbol Assisted Modulation) and space diversity are also employed. Consequently, BER performance of about $10^{-4}$ is obtained for $E_b/N_o$= 20 dB.

  • As an FMT (Filtered Multi-Tone) transmission method of Wideband VHF communication system specified by the ETS (European Telecommunications Standards) EN 300 392-2, this paper introduces three existing realization methods, i.e., the direct filtering method using different band SRRC (Square-Root Raised Cosine) filters for each subcarrier, the PPN-DFT method using the IDFT-PPN (Poly-Phase Network) and PPN-DFT at the transmitter and receiver, respectively, and the Extended DFT method. Then, it proposes the extended IDFT-SDFT (Sliding Discrete Fourier Transform) that computes the DFT values only for interested subcarriers every sample time, and shows that it has an advantage of blind symbol timing (using no training symbol) individually for each user signal (independently of other users' signals) in the multi-user environment where the subcarriers are assigned in contiguous or interleaved blocks to each user and each user signal possibly experiences different channels.

  • In this study, contents of 'the 2007 revised curriculum handbook' and 16 kinds of mathematics textbooks were analyzed first. The purpose of this study is to examine the understanding state of students at general high schools by making questionnaires to survey the understanding state on contents of chapter of complex number based on above analysis. Results of research can be summarized as follows. First, the content of chapter of complex number in textbook was not logically organized. In the introduction of imaginary number unit, two kinds of marks were presented without any reason and it has led to two kinds of notation of negative square root. There was no explanation of difference between delimiter symbol and operator symbol at all. The concepts were presented as definition without logical explanations. Second, students who learned with textbook in which problems were pointed out above did not have concept of complex number for granted, and recognized it as expansion of operation of set of real numbers. It meant that they were confused of operation of complex numbers and did not form the image about number system itself of complex number. Implications from this study can be obtained as follows. First, as we came over to the 7th curriculum, the contents of chapter of complex number were too abbreviated to have the logical configuration of chapter in order to remove the burden for learning. Therefore, the quantitative expansion and logical configuration fit to the level for high school students corresponding to the formal operating stage are required for correct configuration of contents of chapter. Second, teachers realize the importance of chapter of complex number and reconstruct the contents of chapter to let students think conceptually and logically.

  • This paper presents a novel 16-quadrature-amplitude-modulation (QAM) E-band communication system. The system can deliver 10 Gbps through eight channels with a bandwidth of 5 GHz (71-76 GHz/81-86 GHz). Each channel occupies 390 MHz and delivers 1.25 Gbps using a 16-QAM. Thus, this system can achieve a bandwidth efficiency of 3.2 bit/s/Hz. To implement the system, a driver amplifier and an RF up-/down-conversion mixer are implemented using a $0.1{\mu}m$ gallium arsenide pseudomorphic high-electron-mobility transistor (GaAs pHEMT) process. A single-IF architecture is chosen for the RF receiver. In the digital modem, 24 square root raised cosine filters and four (255, 239) Reed-Solomon forward error correction codecs are used in parallel. The modem can compensate for a carrier-frequency offset of up to 50 ppm and a symbol rate offset of up to 1 ppm. Experiment results show that the system can achieve a bit error rate of $10^{-5}$ at a signal-to-noise ratio of about 21.5 dB.

  • In this paper, to increase the throughput for wireless communication, FTN methods that is faster than Nyquist rate are used recently. To improve performance, turbo equalization algorithms that iteratively exchange probabilistic information between soft Viterbi equalizer and LDPC decoder to minimize ISI are applied in this paper. In FTN transmission, the performance depends on roll-off value and number of tabs of SRRC(Square Root Raised Cosine) filter. Therefore, Based on simulation, this paper present optimal number of filter coefficient and tab for various ISI factor of ${\tau}$.

  • This paper presents a low-power, low-complexity design and implementation results of a high speed multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) wireless LAN (WLAN) baseband processor. The proposed processor is composed of the physical layer convergence procedure (PLCP) processor and physical medium dependent (PMD) processor, which have been optimized to have low-power and reduced-complexity architecture. It was designed in a hardware description language (HDL) and synthesized to gate-level circuits using 0.18um CMOS standard cell library. As a result, the proposed TX-PLCP processor reduced the power consumption by as much as 81% over the bit-level operation architecture. Also, the proposed MIMO symbol detector reduced the hardware complexity by 18% over the conventional SQRD-based architecture with division circuits and square root operations.

  • Deniable encryption, introduced in 1997 by Canetti, Dwork, Naor, and Ostrovsky, guarantees that the sender or the receiver of a secret message is able to "fake" the message encrypted in a specific ciphertext in the presence of a coercing adversary, without the adversary detecting that he was not given the real message. Sender - side deniable encryption scheme is considered to be one of the classification of deniable encryption technique which defined as resilient against coercing the sender. M. H. Ibrahim presented a sender - side deniable encryption scheme which based on public key and uncertainty of Jacobi Symbol [6]. This scheme has several problems; (1) it can't be able to derive the fake message $M_f$ that belongs to a valid message set, (2) it is not secure against Quadratic Residue Problem (QRP), and (3) the decryption process is very slow because it is based dramatically on square root computation until reach the message as a Quadratic Non Residue (QNR). The first problem is solved by J. Howlader and S. Basu's scheme [7]; they presented a sender side encryption scheme that allows the sender to present a fake message $M_f$ from a valid message set, but it still suffers from the last two mentioned problems. In this paper we present a new sender-side deniable public-key encryption scheme with fast decryption by which the sender is able to lie about the encrypted message to a coercer and hence escape coercion. While the receiver is able to decrypt for the true message, the sender has the ability to open a fake message of his choice to the coercer which, when verified, gives the same ciphertext as the true message. Compared with both Ibrahim's scheme and J. Howlader and S. Basu's scheme, our scheme enjoys nice two features which solved the mentioned problems: (1) It is semantically secure against Quadratic Residue Problem; (2) It is as fast, in the decryption process, as other schemes. Finally, applying the proposed deniable encryption, we originally give a coercion resistant internet voting model without physical assumptions.
