Due to the spread of mobile devices and the introduction of high-quality services, mobile traffic is expected to increase sharply and overload of cellular networks is expected. D2D communication is a way to reduce the load and evolve to 5th generation. Since D2D communication directly communicates between the terminals, it can reduce the overload of the cellular network and improve energy efficiency, data rate and network performance. This paper proposes a D2D handover scheme for D2D communication in cellular networks. The cellular network is a 3GPP EPS, and the proposed D2D handover method improves the existing EPS handover process considering compatibility between existing EPS and D2D communication. We also demonstrate the superiority of the proposed handover scheme using the network simulator ns-3. Simulation results show that the proposed handover scheme is superior to existing handover methods in terms of CUE variation, packet transmission delay time, and throughput.
Facility location problem is an important subject in many areas of modern business environment. In this paper, we deal with uncapacitated and multi-period facility location problem where the object is a maximization of total profit within predetermined cost. We assume that all demand have to be met. Particularly, we represent various types of customer based on four well-known urban spatial structures to represent a spread of customers. Those are concentric zone model, sector model, multiple nuclei model and star model respectively. We apply to the genetic algorithm to simulate a large scaled problem and develop simulator. We analyze both optimal numbers and locations of facilities for each urban structure. Furthermore, we examine the appropriate time to further expansion of the facilities in the planning horizon. The experimental results show that the developed algorithm can be applied effectively to the facility location problem in the various types of urban area.
Purpose The recent concern over environmental problems such as greenhouse gas emission and fine dust contributes increasing interest in renewable energies. However the intrinsic characteristics of renewable energies, intermittent and stochastic generation, might cause serious problems to the stability and controllability of power grid. Therefore countermeasures such as virtual power plant (VPP) must be prepared in advance of the spread of uncontrollable distributed renewable energy resources to be one of major energy sources. Design/methodology/approach This study deals with the design concept of the VPP platform. we proposed as a technology solution for achieving the stability of power grid by guaranteeing a single power profile combining multiple distributed power sources with ICT. The core characteristics of VPP should be able to participate in the grid operation by responding to operation instructions from the system operator, KPX, as well as the wholesale electricity market. Findings Therefore this study includes energy storage device(ESS) as a controllable component as well as renewable energy resources such as photovoltaic and wind power generation. Based on this configuration, we discussed core element technologies of VPP and protype design of VPP solution platform according to system requirements. In the proposed solution platform, UX design for the integrated control center and brokerage system were included as well as ancillary service function to respond to KPX's operation instruction with utilizing the capability of ESS. In addition, a simulator was suggested to verify the VPP operations.

LTE-Advanced system consisting of the number of cells in the cellular environment because it is built to allow efficient use of limited frequency resources of adjacent cell interference avoidance should be considered. Transition services in accordance with the development of the mobile communication technology, wireless multimedia content from voice-centric mobile communications services and causing a lot of mobile data traffic, such as smart phones and tablet terminals spread of a data-driven surge in mobile data traffic base stations in urban areas by increasing became a reality that can not be prevented. In this paper, we propose a new Hybrid resource allocation technique for improving the performance of the cell boundary and analyzed the performance of the proposed new techniques to perform the simulation using LTE-Advanced system level simulator based on 19cell of cellular system model.
Most of train fires which occur in usual cases do not grow up significantly on a large scale enough to bring about casualties and harmful damages. However, the consequence of some train fire accidents can be devastating disaster so that it would be even recorded in history in unusual cases. Accordingly, such a probability of fire disaster cannot be ignored in aspect of the railway safety assesment. A scale of injury and damage is very difficult to predict and analyze. Because it is depend on various factors, i.e. fire load, burning period, facilities, environment condition, and so on. Thus, a prediction of fire load could be understood as a one methodology to estimate railway safety assesment. The summation method which is one of them is used to evaluate the overall fire load by assuming that sum of heat release rate per unit area or mass of each composite material equals the total. However, since the train fire is classified into a compartment fire in under-ventilation condition. The summation method do not estimate a fire load completely. In this journal, Various methods to predict fire load are introduced and evaluated. Especially the fire simulation tool FDS(Fire Dynamics Simulator)which is based on the CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) is introduced, too. Through the FDS simulation, numerical analyses for the fire load and flame spread are performed. Then, these results of the simulation are validated through the comparison study with the experimental data. Then, limitations and approximations including in simulation process are discussed. The future direction of research is proposed.
An apartment house with a pilotis that raises the architectural volume and provides a space for circulation is becoming popular. With the popularity of pilotis in apartment houses, people also have a keen interest in the potential fire risk at the pilotis. As residents can only access their apartment house through the pilotis, there is a risk to the occupants if there is fire there. Therefore, this study evaluated the pilotis fire cases of urban multifamily housing to conduct a Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) and Fire Evacuation Simulation (FES). Through these two simulation methods, it is possible to validate the riskiness of fire at an apartment with a pilotis. The study identified that the toxic gases and flame spread out to the pilotis within hundred seconds after ignition. In addition, the toxic gases and flame also reach the second floor within three seconds and the entire building within 735 seconds if the entrance doors at the pilotis are opened. On the other hand, the FES simulation results showed that it also takes about approximately 609 seconds to excavate from the apartment house with a pilotis. Therefore, this research shows that an apartment house with a pilotis can ensure the building occupants' lives and their safety if there is fire.

Due to the popularity of social networks and the development of technology in mobile networking, the mobile social networks (MSNs) provide opportunities for the spread of information between mobile devices. As a result, understanding the information diffusion in the emerging MSNs is a critical issue. Many research studies have addressed diffusion minimization, which is a problem of how to find the proper initial k users who can effectively propagate as widely as possible in the minimum amount of time, similar to influence maximization. We address a study on association analysis among nodes in information diffusion and mobility pattern for mobile social networks. Experiments in our study were conducted in the Opportunistic Network Environment (ONE) simulator using GPS trace of mobile node, to show that the study results in MSNs. We also demonstrate that our experiments outperform other existing algorithms with various communication range and ratio of k influential nodes.

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) transmits high-speed data by splitting the transmission bandwidth into a number of subcarriers. The bandwidth of each subcarrier is ensured to be smaller than the coherence bandwidth. This paper presents an OFDM system incorporated with the Carrier Interferometry (CI) codes to improve the performance by enhancing frequency diversity effect. The performances of CI-OFDM with multilevel modulations are investigated in highly dispersive fading channels. For the investigation of performance improvement of CI-OFDM, a simulator has been developed using a well-known SPW simulation platform. The simulation results show that the CI-OFDM provides both performance improvement and robustness against dispersive fading channel behavior. The performance of CI-OFBM with multilevel modulations demonstrates that CI-OFDM outperforms a traditional OFDM system, particularly in highly dispersive channels. With a relatively large delay spread of 151㎱ compared to the guard interval of 800㎱, CI-OFDM provides a BER of 10$^{-3}$ if sufficient signal power is present.

As the spread of LBS(Location Based Service), MDT(Mobile Data Terminal) and PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) services using mobile terminals, various systems are under development to to manage the performance of these services. This paper describes a mobile performance management system which is implemented to test the performance of mobility between the user and the terminal or between the terminal and the mobile server automatically in the mobile-user field. The system has four modules: scenario management module, MDT monitoring, LBS monitoring, and PDA monitoring. The scenario management module manages the performance by monitoring all modules. The LBS monitoring module monitors LBS call attempt stage, call connecting stage, and LBS test for established connection. Thus, the LBS monitoring module manages the performance for every stage of the call. The MDT monitoring module monitors the performance according to the input command and the PDA monitoring module monitors according to the input from the set up and the execution menu.
